I think that the Nets best shot of getting Howard is in the offseason. With Kemba playing the way he is these past couple of games I don't think we will be keeping DJ for the long haul so with Farmar there to start or backup Kemba http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7h5lf74.

Nets clear about 12mill in salary not counting letting all there players leave and then go after every available free agent they can get on the cheap ( like the Heat). Sac Kings get there pg and move Evans over to sg allowing The Jimmer to be DJ's backup and Thornton to come off the bench. Amnesty Diop or Mags in the offseason according to what we draft and go from there.

I like the idea of dealing with the nets to get them cap space.They have already let it be known that morrow can pretty much be had for an expiring which is really the only move i would make.We don't have to pay anyone big for a few years and dj can and should be resigned to a 4 or 5 year deal easily and we could even front load it to make it easier.Good point guards are hard to find in this league, and kemba can't do it by himself right now.And as much as dj has improved we could easily trade him later. Also we taking on farmer and brooks as well as the follow sacramento trade are just unnecessary.It's taking on salaries and roster spots that we shouldn't.I'd give them derrick brown, najera, and a million in cash, maybe even throw in a second rounder for morrow.This way we can just let diaw come off the books and amnesty tyrus if we get davis in the draft.This still gives us diop and magette as trade bait or by just letting them walk next year and it allows us to add a few vets for the locker room.Hendo can easily be moved to the 3 , and seeing as he is a very good shot blocker and rebounder, he would look good beside bismack and davis.Morrow also comes off the books the same year curry would become a free agent which gives us even more flexibility.We would also keep enough cap room to go after batum this offseason if we prefer, and trade magette, sooner than later.I'd like to see us bring in vet big and pg,strictly for the locker room too.I think it would set us up very well for the future.Thoughts?
