DALLAS -- Count Mark Cuban as a fan of Linsanity, at least for a few more days.

The Dallas Mavericks' owner, whose team visits Madison Square Garden on Sunday, considers point guard Jeremy Lin's out-of-nowhere emergence as a star for the New York Knicks great for the business of basketball in large part because the sudden phenomenon has captured the fascination of the nation's biggest media market.

"If it was happening in Charlotte, no one would know," Cuban said, exaggerating for effect.

Did he catch an STD in Charlotte before or something? WTF??? Dude has repeatedly f*cked us over and raped us in trades for which we are still paying for dearly now, while we gave him the missing piece to a chip, and he is still talking sh*t?

I just don't get it. He also mocked us after they completed the Tyson trade for how dumb we were...

Well was he wrong about either? I have no problem with what he said because both statements are true as sad as that is

Lets be honest, Cuban is spot on with this statement.

The NFL is a completely different world, plus the Panthers have the fan support already.

Yeah because Muggsy Bogues didn't become a marketable star or anything

cuban is wrong to dismiss charlotte the city (which i doubt he meant anyways, everyone loves the city), but he has a right to make fun of the bobcat's organization, 1. for himself taking a laughingstock franchise and turning it into the current reigning champs and an excellently run organization and 2. because the mavs have shat on the bobcats since day one, having never lost to us and killing us in trades. it shouldn't be surprising that he would dismiss the bobcats (although i easily could be wrong, who knows what he really meant).

anyways, i saw that earlier and just rolled my eyes. nothing new there.

also, he's kinda right, the knicks are easily one of the best teams for publicity, along with the lakers and celtics. but, certainly, if the bobcats were on a 7 game winning streak behind an undrafted point guard, people would take notice.

he is right. look at it from this angle. we are by far the worst team in the league with no exciting ticket selling player. no one but us pays any attention to anything we do. right now our claim to fame is 10 more games and we are the losingest team in history. if a what is supposed to be a d-league scrub did exactly what lin is doing right now, the only people who would be talking about it are nba types. not many in charlotte pay any attention to the cats and no body out side of charlotte even knows they are a team. there would be no "lin effect".

Even if it is true there is something called respect... He obviously has none for us

If all he said about Charlotte was that one sentence, then some of you are totally overreacting. He is completely right. It's an indictment of NYC media bias. THAT'S ALL. I've been arguing the same thing on facebook with some knuckleheads. If Lin were turning around the Bobcats, espn would not be all over this.

He would've been a lot bigger if he weren't in Charlotte.

not just ny media attention. nyc is the mecca of basketball and have been starved of any excitement. not sure this would happen like this in ANY other city. sure it would be exciting, but it isn't the same.

i completely agree that it would go unnoticed in charlotte for a time, but by now nba'ers would be well aware of it. that is what makes the story so great. he keeps exceeding the hype.

The thing to remember is that ESPN is New York City's backyard. And ESPN has a huge control over what we all think/know about sports.

It's really all pointless. Lin couldn't win with the Bobcats anyway. He may be a miracle worker but even Lin is not that good.

I don't think ppl should think this is reflection on Charlotte the city. He's just stating that being that new York is the media hub Lin is getting more attention which is true.
