View Full Version : Would You Trade Our Pick for an Already Proven Young Player?

Just a hypothetical obviously, and I don't think we could trade our pick until the actual draft because we have one owed to Chicago, but something I've been thinking about.

Clearly you have your superstar players and that ain't happening (no Rose, no Lebron, no Dwight, etc.). And the biggest drawback is the fewer number of years left on a rookie contract if we're taking an older player. But there are some interesting young guys that would give me pause and at least make me think about a trade.

Also, most of these guys would normally be considered untouchable, but maybe a top 3 pick in this year's draft would also sway their minds.

1. Greg Monroe - This dude has been straight up producing, he's only 21, averaging almost 17 and 10, just seems like he would be a great fit next to Biyombo.

2. Steph Curry - I love Kemba and all, but Curry is just too good to pass up, although there might be some injury concerns. He's basically a legend in NC and you wouldn't probably have to worry about him not re-signing.

3. James Harden - Okay, this is obviously a reach, but maybe the Thunder decide they can't afford to pay him when his contract runs up and they'd rather go with a rookie contract instead. Really doubt it, but I just love this guy's play.

4. Demarcus Cousins - Similar to Monroe, just bat shit crazy. I'd still consider it though.

And that's all I could really think of off the top of my head. Like I said purely hypothetical and I just wanted to see people's thoughts. I tried to list teams that I thought might be interested in either Anthony Davis or Harrison Barnes.

Cheaper to use the pick and hope unfortunately and I have no doubt that most of this teams see those players as integral parts of their future

I'd trade it for Monroe and mayyyyybe Cousins. Both of those guys would be perfect partners for Bismack and could be a top 5 frontcourt. Wouldn't trade it for Steph as he's caught between positions like our other two PGs. Harden, while one of my favorite players since his ASU days, probably couldn't command a top 4 pick.

I wouldn't mind Monroe.
Dude is producing at a high level and improving every game.

uhhhh we'd be lucky as hell if we could trade our pick for James Harden, if it wasnt #1 at least. I'd throw in DJ or Henderson too but they probably wouldnt take it. kids an absolute stud and this draft is pretty weak anyway after Davis

It depends on what pick we get. If we can get Davis I wouldn't trade it for anyone, and neither would the front office considering the difference in cost. Trying to become a contender to fast will only set us back. Better to go with youth until we get the kind of talent you only get in the draft.
