This little whiny brat now says he wants to stay in Orlando for the season. (no link needed, it is all over the place) I know I should not be surprised but maybe this helps our cause if he stays. It gives the Nets time to shred cap space. Can we say bye bye, Doris. The anticipation is killing me. I wonder if the kryptonite that Bismack slapped on him wore off and that is why he is staying longer. lol

he is so tiresome. i tell my wife he is the person on facebook who says in their profile that they "hate drama" or are "so tired of the people who cause drama in their life". 99 out of 100 times they love drama and are the cause of the drama in their life. hey dwight, if you want to concentrate on playing basketball and having fun rather than questions about your future, tell the media what you really want to do! if you want to stay, announce you are resigning. if you want to go, say you will not resign and ask for a trade!

and please, please shut up until you have at least one reliable post move (you are afterall the best center in basketball) and can make a freakin free throw.

Him staying for the season in Orlando is best for us. It frees up the Nets to make the deal with Charlotte for Diaw and gives us the Houston pick. They do need to free up space to sign Howard. If the Magic were to trade Howard to the Nets now, all bets are that the 1st rounders they have would need to go to Orlando. But since they would still need cap space, dealing with us may still be a necessity either way. Still, the way it seems to be working out is in our favor.

I dont like Dwight, never have. Dude is corny and a fraud. Rewind 2 years ago, Dwight bashes LeBron for "chasing a title" in Miami and claims "he wants to bring a title to Orlando" and doesnt want to leave the team that drafted him. Now here he is 2 years later attempting to do the same thing. His "I want to stay thru the season" act is him begging for free agency while making no promises to Orlando. It also helps out his future team by not having to give anything up to get him. Dwight is leaving to play in NY and enhance his "brand". He sees the LeBrons, Kobes, and Roses cashing in on theirs in big glamorous markets and he wants the same for himself. How else you explain him wanting to play for a crappy franchise like the Nets? A championship is secondary to this cat, and he lacks the game to get it done anyway. He only plays smart inspired ball when he faces a LeBron team, then lays down for everyone else (Lakers, Celtics, Hawks).

I've said it before, the thing that irritates me the most about Dwight is, as KT said, he is a fraud. But for several reasons. Mine goes back to reading a piece on him when he was in high school in which he said that he wanted to be a pastor and would use basketball as his platform to preach. Fast forward years later, he knocked up a Magic cheerleader and doesn't want to take responsibility for the child, he hangs out with pornstars, and not just any pornstars, some extremely trashy and used up ones (Mary Carey), and then this. It's not our place to judge others IMO, I'm far from perfect, but I don't pretend to be.

To me, you have to try to live up to your word and he's never done that in any facet that I've observed. The way he's handled this is disgusting. I don't really care for SVG, but I think he's a pretty good coach who wrongly got the axe in Miami so Patty R could put another ring on his finger. So, for Dwight to constantly mock him and then have rumors of ownership offering him the chance to decide his fate, that is a joke. Dude is a cornball and IMO, he's not really all that great either. His game is garbage. He can rebound, but his offense is a joke. Most of his points come off dunks and put backs. He still hasn't developed an offensive game and the only reason he excels is because there isn't another big man that can match his athleticism - well, at least until Biyombo got here, lol.

Anyway, I hope the Magic trade him and get something back. To be so manipulative to the point that you ask them to let you stay and "roll the dice" so you can leave and they get nothing in return is despicable.

ESPN is now reporting that the Magic front office is pissed because they feel that Dwight is trying to manipulate the situation (stay for the year then sign with NJ so NJ does not have to trade all of thier assets away). Supposedly the NETS want Dwight before the deadline and Orlando is trying to create a bidding war with NJ, NY, and LA..which I guess has probably been going on for months now.

Anyway, the article says orlando and nj are looking for a third party and mentions Charlotte and Boris Diaw again.

Only reason I post this is because it it reaffirms the previous rumors of doris miaow to NJ.

YES! We need to do it.

Now the only thing that worries me is that rumors are out there that the Knicks might be interested in a Chandler/Melo for Howard deal.

yep. "I want to be a preacher"... fast forward 3 years, he's in a pornstars bathroom UNINVITED with his pants down begging. Dude is a fraud, and not good enough to warrant the attention Orlando is giving him. They are bending over backwards, offering to give him hiring/firing power over GM and Coach, WTF? They should trade him now while they have the chance, but I kind of hope they don't. They are in our division, so if Howard walks, I get to hate him and at the same time not worry about Orlando being good anymore.

Rumor is going around that Dwight is now not going to opt out this summer. If that's true the NJN deal would be dead as they wouldn't need to dump 2 year deals for expirings.

Three Magic players tell Y! Sports (2 to @SpearsNBAYahoo) and one to me that Dwight Howard did not tell them he was opting in for next year.

Said one Magic player on Howard meeting: "Next year was not even mentioned in meeting...He told us he was "all-in" for this season."

I think I may have read that. But I remember when he and Mek were the top prospects and I wanted Mek even though Dwight had more potential but something I did not like about him. He seemed goofy and immature. I was rethinking myself throughout his career but I think we still made the right first draft pick though.

Umm...Howard is a one of a kind talent, Emeka isn't (he never got better since his rookie year) and the Magic picked Howard first, we got Emeka 2nd. Best center in the NBA, hands down. I don't think we ever had the option of trading for him, but if we did and didnt take it I would be extremely pissed.

But Dwight's attitude is annoying. I'm sick of his flip flopping and public outcry. That being said, Orlando has failed to put the right team around him. Don't tell me the group he made the finals with was 'the right team' because they wasted a shit ton of money on Rashard Lewis and Hedo. That group was good, the Van Gundy idea about 3 point shooters was an ok concept, but it was only one possible way. Dwight clearly needs a different coach with a different philosophy. What Orlando has put in place and continuously built on is wrong, just like what Cleveland did for Lebron was wrong. They collect players for the names, not the chemistry.

However the idea of Dwight now being supreme dictator of Orlando is extremely stupid. He is a player, the owner is a fucking idiot who doesnt understand basketball if he thinks giving a player the final word is a good idea. I think Dwight sees that and is trying to exploit it, by not making any team he wants to go to lose assets (ala the Knicks for Carmelo) in order to get him. We'll see what happens but either way I dont get why this is in the Bobcats section?

News of Dwight Howard's decision to stay with the Magic through the 12-13 season has opened up trade talk between teams on other deals.
The Pacers have had multiple scenarios on hold and the Bobcats also have multiple trade scenarios for Boris Diaw.

I just hope that whatever happens it nets us at least one mid-first round pick.

Here's my question (I know this probably belongs somewhere else but this is the most popular thread right now): What are we going to do with all this money that comes off the books in 2013? As of right now we'll have somewhere in the upper 20 millions (and possibly into the 30+ million range depending on what we do with Diaw, Augustin, etc) become free. I doubt they would spend that much money on role players and depth...

Also, I remember reading about a potential Tyrus for Jermaine O'Neal + 1st round pick a while back. What ever happened to that or was it just a wild rumor?

What are we going to do with all this money that comes off the books in 2013?

Obviously, one option would be to sign a superstar or two. If we have some nice rookie contracts in place to establish a core, that could happen.

Another option would be to trade picks and players to teams who need to reduce cap space for quality stars who have bigger contracts.

I think the worst thing we could do is hand out sizable contracts to mediocre guys just to spend the money. Hopefully, we wait for the right situation and then bite.

We won't really know until we get there. As is now, probably not many. However, add a few first rounders to the mix and you might have a star looking to bring it all together.

I just wish either Howard or Orlando would make up their mind because they're holding up the vast majority of the league. For Orlando's sake, they should just go ahead and trade him because this mess he's spouting today is just there to make the Magic look bad when they trade him. Thing is, anyone with a brain and half a clue would know if he was serious about staying in Orlando he would have signed an extension. So I really don't know what that guy is doing with all this drama.

I think the option that may suit the Bobcats better would be to hold on to any cap room and use it to sign rookies and bench guys we have now. That way once you have Anthony Davis, Biyombo Kemba and Henderson you don't have to worry about losing them like Orlando. You build a base of good young players then manage the cap so that you can resign them as they prove fit.

Absolutely. But we don't have anyone yet that has proven to be a high profile commodity. Kemba and Biyombo have certainly had their moments.
