so this is probably not going to be a popular opinion and i am happy to be proven wrong through stats or video or what not but,

i don't think hendo is the stopper on defense that alot of planeteers give him credit for. everytime i see him through my choppy internet feeds, he is getting beat off the dribble, not making it through screens and generally being an average defender. ever since his hip injury last year, he has been only ok and sometimes pretty bad on defense.

thoughts?

I may have to agree, the way he has been playing of late is pretty average. But everyone has not impressed me and I chock it up to the team as a whole lacks the talent.

I noticed it the other night against New Orleans. His defense hasn't been what its supposed to be lately. Maybe the hip could be affecting him.

I agree only because his defense was so so good before the hip injury. Defense is all lateral ability which might stress on the hip..maybe he does not trust hip yet..therefore not moving laterally as well.

Some of it might have something to do with him having a larger offensive responsibility.

Hip+Hammie slowing him down imo.
But I noticed the same thing.
Probably also more tired, having to carry a bit more of the offensive load since last year.
Needs to go on the off-season and improve his ball-handling and stamina.

Think it also shows how much of a gap Hendo still has to becoming an all-star-esque player.
One thing I've noticed, his court vision+passing is a lot better.
However, he needs to still be more assertive offensively and to continue to learn to create his own shot.
Did it somewhat at Duke, done it somewhat in the pros but needs to consistently learn to create it.

I think he'd make a good 6th man.
