Concensus #1 pick. He's coming out. This is not like Andrew Luck staying at Stanford.

Yeah, I'd be very surprised if he didn't. In fact, that link just says he's focused on the season and will make his decision after the season is over. It's not like he can say "Yep, I'm outta here ASAP!" during their tournament run.

Most guys always say that till they get out of the tournament. They don't want to make it a distraction. I can't see him staying.

Mad comedy that Kidd-Gilchrist already said he is.

Yeah, because we have such a long and storied tradition of winning. Smh...
We suck now and we have always sucked since our inception. I don't call that being a defeatist, I call it being a realist... and a Bobcats fan.
Aside from that, yes, he can come out and say he's leaving now. Kidd-Gilchrist already has from his own team. Barnes and a few others from UNC have already said if they win it all they will leave without a doubt. So, if he didn't have any doubt, he could just say he is entering the draft when the season is over.

We might not have a winning culture since the bobcats been here but that doesnt mean we should accept defeat. Boris has a defeatist mentality. He's french. If a player doesnt come out because he could potentially get picked by the bobcats, FUCK THEM. I dont want people like that anymore. I want somebody that wants to come here and change the culture. I want somebody that wants to get better and change the franchise. If a player has that desire, I would welcome them to the team. I have faith in Cho to stick to the plan and improve this franchise to the state where we want it to be.

I agree. It's obvious. Kidd-Gilchrist has already said he's on the way to the draft. College basketball would be better suited if these guys stayed for three years. Let's be honest.

There's a difference between being a realist: "We suck and have always sucked"
And being a defeatist: "Davis refuses to come out because NOBODY wants to play for the Bobcats wahh, we suck and we'll always suck just because we suck and everybody hates us wahhh"
It seems like every single time player X says he wants to stay in school some of the fans go straight to the apocalypse theory. How many times do these players say they aren't leaving only to turn around and say they are after the season? The majority of them. But hey, let's revise history just because we want to be as negative as possible because we love flagellating ourselves oh so much.

loyalty to what or to whom? i would never expect a player capable of a guaranteed contract for 3 years to stay subjugated to a free labor system. the college system is all wrong and treats its labor force as indentured servants. the tv deal alone for the tournament is in the billions, factor in jersey sales and other player related paraphernalia, and the star players are being cheated out of millions of dollars. not only that, but they are vilified if they dare try to profit off of their name.

Good lord... I'm sick of this stupid argument. They CHOSE to go to college, and they know the rules. If they wanted to get paid, they would do what Brandon Jennings did. They get a free education (which means something if they stay), free room & board, free athletic gear, free trips, free exposure, free coaching, free access to weight rooms, gifts at the NCAA tournament/Bowl games, etc. What else do you want? If you're a player and you don't like it, there are some teams in Lithuania who would love to have you for a year.

Tell me... How many times have we hit on our draft picks?
Now, tell me even when great players were available, how many times we picked those "great players"? So far, we haven't. EVER. How many times have we been dissed by players? Plenty.
You're painting me as one extreme when I really represent the truth. I'm telling you, this fan base has been so deprived of a quality basketball team that when Biyombo has a double-double, 99% of the board creams their pants and claims he's the next Dennis Rodman or Dwight Howard, lol. It's pathetic. That's not a knock on BB either... It just shows how much we've sucked throughout our history. BB will be fine, but just as you claim I'm so short sighted and become a prisoner of the moment, the same can be said for everyone here - either positively or negatively. But, because I'm too realistic about things, and that doesn't line up with your sunshine and rainbows agenda, you take shots at me. It's getting old.
Now, tell me how many trades or signings we have pulled off for bonafide stars? Remember the Melo rumors? CP3? What was the reason we would hear as to why the trades fell apart for us? Because we are Charlotte, our market is too small, our franchise is poorly managed, etc. So, again, tell me why I should want to get hyped up for whatever player we're rumored to get or target? Even the Panthers got dissed by a unanimous #1 selection before the draft and they have been successful at points in their history and they are extremely well respected in regards to ownership/management. We ended up with a far better player anyway (although Hurney has always hit on 1st rounders), but my point remains.
So, why is it so far fetched to believe players, either NBA vets or college players entering the draft, wouldn't want to come here?
Again, welcome to reality. Sorry if that doesn't smoothly pour into your orange colored glasses.
If you don't like my opinion, feel free to stop reading it and get off my jock.

He could say he's going, yes. Perhaps that's not his style. He appears to have taken a more measured and professional approach to this type of questioning. He's showing that he's focused on the task at hand, winning a national championship. Others can handle this as they wish, but I do like it to be handled the way Davis is. Basically, "I'm busy right now trying to accomplish something with my teammates. Ask me a little later, Ok?"
Davis may or may not be a Bobcat. Time will tell. I'll just say this about the situation...it can be a half full glass of water, not a half empty glass of acid. I just prefer the water is all.

I'd think if I were Tyler Hansblow and I saw 75% of the people wearing my jersey, I'd be pretty darn excited because that means I'm probably going to start making serious $$ in a couple years. These kids (and they ARE kids) can wait a couple years before they start making millions. Lots of kids wore Chris Paul West Forsyth jerseys while he played in High School... I suppose he should have been paid at 15-16?

a great argument. I really believe we all get short- sighted. But I am to believe that someone somewhere has told Davis that you are the consensus no 1 pick and you may end up in Charlotte, someone going tell him how small the market is and how bad our history is. He is looking at reality as we are looking at reality. Until he is in a Bobcats uniform and says he is committed to winning, I shouldn't make myself get hyped up. He may pull an Andrew Luck, that is his choice. But it is just fun for moment to speculate though, especially with you are a fan.

Its not really a choice. They have to go to college (that rule that prevents high school students from entering the draft). South Park hit it right on the head.

Or they could take your second option and just get the fuck out this country if they want to pursue a career in basketball, right?
Its a multi-billion dollar industry that makes money off the backs of these players. Everybody gets a piece of the pie but those guys. A school will pull in MILLION of dollar because of these guys for in return they get a fraction of something back in the form of "Free Education".

BTW, MKG has disputed that he's "definitely coming out". Not coming out of the closet at this stage is probably a good idea IMO.

except nobody wears the pacers jersey which he gets paid on. or jj reddick or adam morrison or julius hodge or any of the other college stars that sold millions of dollars worth of merchandise but not at the pro level. college was their chance and their peak.
and yes, they should get a cut of that. just because they are a kid doesn't mean they don't deserve to get paid on their merits. child actors get paid on theirs, right?

We will get another player for this year.... WE WILL just struggle more and end up getting him next year...
All in all Bobcats are on the right track we will get 2 top 3 picks in the next 2 years so how can we not be positive about the future..

Tell me... How many times have we hit on our draft picks?
Tell me... what does that have ANYTHING to do going forward? Talk about some bass ackwards logic. Just because we've dropped the ball in the past on draft night doesn't mean we're destined to do it again, Mr. Apocalypto
Now, tell me even when great players were available, how many times we picked those "great players"? So far, we haven't. EVER.
Not only is that laughable revisionist history, it begs the question of if they were so great, why didn't teams above us pick them? Oh wait, only the Bobcats pick busts. Right?.....
How many times have we been dissed by players? Plenty.
Off the top of my head, one. Brandon Roy. Perhaps you'd like to share a few of those "plenty" of others?
You're painting me as one extreme when I really represent the truth. I'm telling you, this fan base has been so deprived of a quality basketball team that when Biyombo has a double-double, 99% of the board creams their pants and claims he's the next Dennis Rodman or Dwight Howard, lol. But, because I'm too realistic about things, and that doesn't line up with your sunshine and rainbows agenda, you take shots at me. It's getting old.
The only part of the truth that you have correct is that we have largely been a bad team throughout our short history. The shortcomings are attributed to a multitude of things from bad luck in the draft, to coaching demands, to bad trades. Your mistake is that you have this silly little idea in your head that those bad things happen BECAUSE we're the Bobcats, and that simply isn't the case.
Now, tell me how many trades or signings we have pulled off for bonafide stars?
There have been 3 trades for bonafide stars in recent years. Chris Paul to the Clippers, Deron to the Nets, and Melo to the Knicks. You make it sound like stars are moved on a daily basis. Are the other 23 or so teams that couldn't land those three players terrible franchises? No.
Remember the Melo rumors? CP3? What was the reason we would hear as to why the trades fell apart for us? Because we are Charlotte, our market is too small, our franchise is poorly managed, etc.
Actually no. Any chance those trades fell apart had way more to do with other teams simply being able to outbid us to get those players. The package the Nets had for Deron (for example) was much better than the one we could've come up with. It's the nature of the beast.
Let So, again, tell me why I should want to get hyped up for whatever player we're rumored to get or target?
I don't remember ever saying you should. I said you shouldn't run around acting like Chicken Little just because some "rumor" came out that Davis isn't 100% on entering the draft.
Even the Panthers got dissed by a unanimous #1 selection before the draft and they have been successful at points in their history and they are extremely well respected in regards to ownership/management. We ended up with a far better player anyway (although Hurney has always hit on 1st rounders), but my point remains.
Did Luck ever say he refused to play for the Panthers? No. Maybe he wanted to stay in school and get his degree, since you know, it's the smart thing to do and as a student at Stanford, he's obviously a smart guy. Maybe Luck was nervous about the potential NFL lockout?
But who doesn't love a good conspiracy theory, right CarolinaKat?
So, why is it so far fetched to believe players, either NBA vets or college players entering the draft, wouldn't want to come here?
I'm not saying that it is. I'm saying that you're being silly to automatically go to the absolute worst reasoning for a move just because we have a bad history. There are 30 teams in the league. Free Agents have all sorts of different reasons for picking where they go.
As for Draft picks, you DO know the deadline to declare for the draft is BEFORE the draft lottery right?
And as I'm sure you know, Mr. Apocalypto, there's a 75% chance of us not getting him. When they declare, they have no idea what the draft order will be.
But if I know one thing, is that Davis will pass up the guaranteed #1 selection and the millions of dollars and endorsements that come with it................. because there's a 25% chance the Bobcats might pick him.

so do we need to have a support group for Biyombo double double premature ejaculators? cause when he get's that 9th rebound, i just can't help myself sometimes.
as for the ncaas, definitely a very flawed system, and in my opinion, rife with corruption and hypocrisy. if you believe that a particular athlete is staying in college just because they're afraid where they'll end up, though, the system is actually helping a team like ours because they keep moving the date for declaration forward, trying to make it harder for kids who aren't sure if they're actually solid first rounders to leave school. only in america do you combine a multi-billion dollar sports industry with your higher education system. totally makes sense.
and, as for davis, i think he's more just like, leave me alone, i got a national title to win, we'll talk about how i'm gonna dominate the nba later. but in a humble way.

i think a big fear is that you strike bronze or silver instead and end up lowering your chances for getting that gold piece (hope my stretching your analogy makes sense). but i think you're right, we will get that person eventually, if only because we've bottomed out completely and i don't think we will improve as quickly as some people believe.

this is the dumbest thread ever. And you can argue all you want diddy... but this is defeatist and negative and kind of silly.
1. Never once were the Bobcats mentioned, or even hinted at.
2. Its not even close to a guarantee that the Bobcats will be the number one pick. you are saying that Davis hates the Bobcats soooo much that he is willing to forgo MILLIONS of dollars on the 25% chance we get number one over all. silly.
3. This franchise has been around for way less than a decade dude... If you think this is bad trying being a Pacers fan, or a Clippers fan, or basically anyone who isnt LA or Boston.
number 4. AND THIS IS A BIG ONE. Davis doesn't even say he isn't coming back. He says what any college player with a brain and still in the hunt for a ring would say. " I haven't decided."

and sorry to double post but it really pisses me off when someone says we are dumb for getting excited about Biyombo having big games. and then laughing at them for thinking he could be as good or better than Dwight.
A quick look at the numbers would snuff that argument right the hell out, but its much easier to get on here and piss and moan without facts.
We have EVERY reason to be excited about Biyombo and Kemba.
