Okay, I just watched Bruce Bowen talking about Anthony Davis on ESPN. They had a snippet of a phone interview with Larry Brown saying (and I paraphrase from memory) "Whoever gets Davis, they are gonna win over 50 games. I don't care who it is."
I'd like to think that he meant "eventually", but that was not heard or implied in the recording.
What do y'all think? Has LB lost it?? I just can't see Davis as a Magic Johnson/Larry Bird caliber guy who can completely turn a team around in one season.
Anthony Davis can play this game, but when he was quoted the other day as comparing himself to Kevin Durant, I couldn't believe my eyes. I guess you can't expect a young kid to see himself as others do.
It reminds me of the time Adam Morrison, coming out of college, said he was like Dirk Nowitzki. Even draftexpress.com still has "shorter Dirk Nowitzki" as his NBA comparison on the old profile.

What a joke. Even when Adam is on, he has a complete different game than the Mavs big man.
Thoughts??

I haven't found the link to it yet. It just aired. I don't keep up with the names of ESPN's shows. Bruce Bowen and a lady were on there standing and talking when they went to the Brown phone clip.

LB always overpumped players. As we know from his stint with us he also underpumped his own.

I am prone to hyperbole when i see things I like. I like Davis (but that said and Vet will make sure you know I was all about Barnes before Davis mid season) so take what I think with a big grain of salt. But Anthony Davis is a franchise changer I think. Its not that he blocks shots, its how he blocks shots. Its how he runs the floor. He just does things in a way that no one else can do. His offensive game is just now starting to form, and wait till he gets some confidence on that side of the ball. He will be special.
this scout agrees http://cgscoutperspective.blogspot.com/2012/04/who-is-anthony-davis-camby-duncan.html (good read) Compares him to Tim Duncan and I think thats pretty spot on, with a better ability to block.
have to have.

LOL Mustachio, I forgot all about somebody liking Barnes over Davis. That was you?
In fairness, Barnes really looked like what we needed position-wise in the middle of the season. I think his reputation will make a slight comeback as the dust settles on the tournament. So he's not an NBA go-to guy, but somebody will value him as a second scoring option who brings you good size at the Wing spot. Catching and shooting off 0-2 dribbles is an important skill. He doesn't need to dominate the ball in order to score.
That said, if there is anybody left who wants to pass over Davis AT THIS POINT, he needs his head examined.
