My personal point of view is that NBA players have way to much power. In England it doesn't matter what a player thinks. At the end of the day his job is to go out, play and win. I have heard GMs having to brief players on free agency, Players telling managment who they want to hire/fire as coach. I just think its stupid that players have the power to influence management, it's not their job so pipe down and do your job.
This for example? No coach should have to go through this http://www.nba.com/magic/video/2012/04/05/040512svghoward2reportsm4v-2057703/index.html Then Dwight comes over and plays all dumb. Pathetic, at least take responsibility for your actions

Yeah, this has really pissed me off about these players. Since the lockout, I have had a real dislike about the power these players have and the owners have their parts in creating this problem.
Actually I wished the lockout would have lasted longer where the owners should have gained more power back. But they created the problem.
this is nothing new. been going on since the late 60's. what is crazier, is that dwight howard thinks he should be gm. he barely made it out of high school and obviously has zero business savvy. what evidence does he have that he can even remotely do that job. on top of that, the magic management seems to entertaining him on this. comical.

I wasn't around for that. If I had been i would still have been pissed then. Do you turn up into work and tell your boss what to do.

ye but you don't turn up to work and have to work with Glen Davis and Hedo Turkoglu both on ridiculously bloated contracts

plus i'm not one of the top 10 best people in the world at my job.
i understand what you're saying and i agree that is annoying. i like players, but i root for a team - the bobcats. finding the proper balance between the two is difficult and the league has always struggled with this. the way dwight and carmelo handled their situations was shitty, and the way the suns have handled nash's situation was shitty. lebron leaving cleveland sucked, just like kareem leaving the bucks sucked, bill walton forcing his way out of portland sucked, shaq leaving orlando sucked, vince forcing his way out of toronto sucked. something tells me the magic are regretting keeping howard and wished they had been savvy like the jazz with deron williams, but then you could also say this team was in the finals just a few years ago and looking like they were on top of the world. why wouldn't you roll the dice on the one guy who truly owns his position?
for things to be successful, a lot has to go right, and that falls on the shoulders of the players, the management, the coaches, and the owner. you can make cases for all of them being in the right or wrong. now you have the GM saying howard never said anything about firing SVG? who knows what's actually happening over there? certainly not me.
i agree that i wish everyone could be a stand up guy, come into work and just do their jobs. but their is precedent in star players (supposedly) getting their coach fired and going on to be more successful (magic, jordan, and shaq with this same coach). maybe a star player recognizes when a coach isn't working? or maybe not and they just need to shut up and listen for once.
hope that all makes sense. i just think the 24 hour sports media sometimes tries to over-sensationalize everything and make stuff so black and white sometimes. i just think the magic are a mess and i don't think it's all howard's fault.

Magic Johnson got Paul Westhead fired. MJ got Doug Collins fired. Shaq and D-Wade got Van Gundy fired. All went on to win championships.
Let's be honest here Otis Smight over payed for a bunch of Van Gundy system players. Besides Ryan Anderson, who is a third option at best, Dwight has no consistent help. Jameer Nelson has statically regressed for the past 3 years. J-Rich and Hedo arent the players they once were. Von Wafer/Q-Rich/JJ Reddick/Glen Davis/and the rest of the roster are all fringe guys who vary in production every game. When assessing blame, you have to look at who put this group together and why. For every good move Otis Smith made, he has done 2-3 bad ones. And he did them all for Van Gundy. Something’s gotta give.
Dwight did everything behind closed doors. People who work for the front office are leaking it because they are all going to lose their jobs this summer thanks to Dwight. Van Gundy will too. Good riddance to them all.
It's nice to watch the team that swept us in the playoffs go away. (I say that more out of reminding myself we made the playoffs/less out of bitterness)

You can give a few examples of where it worked but that proves nothing to be honest. Anyway I am not on about who is right or not, it is about respect for someone and their profession.

How does that "prove nothing"? Sounds more like you have nothing to say in response.
Van Gundy needs to be axed. Dwight is a top tier player. I have no issue with the person who brings in the fans/the money/the franchise centerpiece (Dwight) telling his real boss (the owner) his opinion on his supervisor. Van Gundy/sources within the organization are the ones who made it public. If you want to talk about being unprofessional lets talk about the way the Magic front office personnel, who keep leaking every detail in order to save face before their post-season swan songs, and Van Gundy handle it.
Give Dwight a new system and give him a new supporting cast. This clearly isn't working. Every other superstar in the NBA has a complementary superstar besides him. I'd be sick of it too.
