Last year, it was one of the Morris twins supposedly having a 6'7" wingspan, despite being a 6'9" big man prospect. As it turned out, they measured 6'10" to 6'10.75" in their wingspans. Not super, but acceptable.
A few years back, one site had Gerald Henderson with something like an 8'3.5" standing reach--more like point guard level. But we soon learned that he could reach 3 inches higher.
Now enter Cody Zeller. At 6'11", there is a figure floating around that his wingspan is a mere 6'8"! That would definitely give me some pause if I were a GM. That said, I can't buy this number. I gotta believe he goes at least 6'10"-6'11" when he spreads the arms. AT LEAST.
Are there ANY measurable sources to be trusted besides the pre-draft camp numbers?? Amare Skills Academy? Hoop Summit figures??
Basically, the annual day that draftexpress releases the pre-draft numbers is my grownup basketball fan version of Christmas. (Is it that way for you too, Swedd??)
