I don't see it as a bad thing honestly. He's too streaky. One game he can drop 25 but then the next 3 games he goes 2-15 from the field. I'd definately love to see him on the trading block in the upcoming season.

Some funny tweeting just happened, thought i should post it here.
Rick Bonnell: @ghostC5M:Corey, sorry to hear you're out the rest of the season. Hope you get well soon.
Maggette: @rick_bonnell thx rick will get better
James Plowright(me): @ghostCM5: Don't thank him just yet, he just wrote an article about using the amnesty on you... (http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_nba/2012/04/will-corey-maggette-be-back-next-season.html)
Maggette: @jamesPlowright Everyone has their own opinion

Bonnell probably keeping his head down haha. I think he felt guilty writing the story so tried to get some good karma by saying get well soon haha. I wonder if Bonnell trolls this forum looking for sources, leads and stories. I know if I were a beat writer I would probably do that, I have no problem admitting that the fans may access to material I dont.
Back to Corey though, bit of a shame as we will be more unwatchable. But heres the silver lining, at least it is not our youth like Kemba, Biz, hendo etc

Bonnell said he thought the Bobcats should keep him around, just that it made the most sense to amnesty Mags because he has a $10m contract for one year.

Maybe I'm missing something when it comes to contracts/capology/amnesty rules, but wouldn't Maggs be better used as trade bait & filler around the deadline next season, rather than be amnestied? With 1 year remaining it seems like a waste of the amnesty clause. I feel like impending UFA's could fetch some decent assett in return for us next year. Especially coming off an extended rest period and heading into UFA status the summer of 2013, I would think Maggs is looking for one last big payday as he is no spring chicken. Don't Thomas and Diop make more sense on the amnesty clause?

Not necessarily. People only give up assets for expiring contracts if the other team takes a longer contract. That's the whole point of trading for an expiring. That's why we didn't trade Diaw: we would have had to taken back some longer term contract that we didn't want. If a team has low salaries and can absorb and pay a longer contract, then it can be a way to get assets. However, the Bobcats don't want to take on any more future commitments.
Mags makes sense if the team wants immediate cap relief: say we were able to sign a guy for $15M that would be our superstar and needed some room to be safe. Carroll's contract declines, so I'm guessing he sticks around. Diop might get bought out at some point. My guess is they're saving he amnesty clause for TT, giving him another season to see if he can put it together.
