for another lottery pick this year?? I know we have been talking a lot about trading the #1 overall pick, if we are lucky enough to get it, for two first round picks this year. How about trading the next year's 1st round pick, which every team knows will likely be a top 5 pick, for a Top 14 pick this year and maybe we can draft an Austin Rivers, Jeremy Lamb, or Quincy Miller to go along with Anthony Davis...
remember too that we get Portland's 1st round pick next year so we will probably have a pick around 15 or 16 even if we trade away our first round pick...

Is that because of the Tyrus Thomas deal?

Yes.
We could possibly win 25 or so more games next year (LOL!) and end up having to give that pick to Chicago.

And even then we probably wouldn't be able to trade it until draft night.

We cant trade ours but we can trade Portlands 1st. We just cant have missing back to back 1st rounders.

RE: trading draft picks. We can trade the player as soon as we pick him. The trade rule only applies to future picks.

Even if we could I would not want to do it.

No way we would trade our top four pick next year for anyone not named Anthony Davis.

NO, I don't care what the circumstances are... I don't care if a player falls or we do it to move up and snag Davis one spot.... DON'T!!! If we land the top pick, go Davis obviously but I'm not as high on Davis as some are... I think he has a high bust rate. I love MKG at 2 though, Gerald Wallace 2.0. Don't trade next year's first, it will more than likely be a top-5 pick so with back-to-back top-5 picks that should be two key players to build around, kind of like what OKC did with Durant/Westbrook.
