After looking into the Bobcats salary situation I have come up with a formula on how the Bobcats can immediately improve and re-energize the city of Charlotte. It will take a lot of hard work by Michael Jordan but it is time for him to show us how much he is willing to make this team better. Believe it or not, I believe he can do it in a hurry if he wants too.

If I am the Bobcats the first move I make is cutting D.J. Augustin, Cory Higgins, Derrick Brown, and Eduardo Najera. That will free up $8 million in salary cap space. Then, I amnesty Corey Maggette which will clear an additional $11 million in salary cap space.

The only one of those players I may keep is Derrick Brown but I have a feeling that Tyrus Thomas get's his act together under the right coach next season. I would resign D.J. White to another 1 year contract worth around $2 million.

Then, in the NBA draft if we have the #1 Overall Pick we definitely draft Anthony Davis who will come in and start immediately at Power Forward for the Bobcats and be the 1st Franchise player the Bobcats have ever had.

In the 2nd Round, the Bobcats need to draft Darius Miller who I think at the moment is one of the most underrated players in the draft. At 6'7 235 he is a grown man at small forward with outstanding touch from the three point line. I belleive that he will develop into a solid rotation player very quickly

After watching O.J. Mayo this season I have come to the conclusion that he is a MUST GET for Michael Jordan and the Bobcats in free agency. He is an excellent combo guard and has developed into a very good 3-point shooter. He can play the James Harden role being the 6th man and get a minimum of 30 minutes per game coming off the bench. I would offer him a 5-year 40 million dollar deal in a heartbeat.

Next, I sign Antawn Jamison to a 3-year 15 million dollar deal so that he can finish out his career as a Charlotte Bobcat. I believe he will only play two more season's but he has made it known publicly that he would like to retire as a Bobcat and he definitely still has game. I also believe he will be crafty veteran that can teach Anthony Davis a lot on the offensive end of the floor.

Lastly, find an unrestricted point guard to bring in like a Sundiata Gaines or John Lucas that is a capable floor general but likely won't see a ton of minutes unless of an injury to Kemba Walker.

Finally, and most the most important piece to this puzzle is a Head Coach. Michael Jordan needs a coach that is not afraid to stand his ground and will tell him no. When I am looking around this league there are 2 coaches that I think would be perfect for this team. #1 is Mike Budenholzer from the San Antonio Spurs. He has been with Greg Popovich since his career began 16 years ago with the Spurs. His name is not mentioned much but he is a no non-sense guy and would be perfect for a player like Tyrus Thomas. 2nd if the Bobcats want a big name and the Magic make the decision to fire Stan Van Gundy I would bring him in here if Budenholzer didn't want to come. He would certainly bring some national attention and credibility to the Bobcats.

Most importantly you have a team on the floor that looks like:

PG: Kemba Walker/O.J. Mayo/Sundiata Gaines
SG: Gerald Henderson/O.J. Mayo/Reggie Williams
SF: Tyrus Thomas/Darius Miller/Reggie Williams
PF: Anthony Davis/Antawn Jamison/D.J. White
C: Bismack Biyombo/Byron Mullens/Diop [Emergency Backup]

I believe that with this team the Bobcats could go from the worst team in NBA history to almost 25-30 wins next season because I believe that Walker, Henderson, Thomas, Mullens, and Biyombo will all improve in the offseason and the addition of Anthony Davis along with two veterans in Mayo and Jamison who will combine to score 30+ points per game would make the Bobcats very respectable.

Then, after next season the Bobcats will have around $14 million more in salary cap space after the Diop, Carroll, and Williams deals expire. If Mullens improves you lock him up to a 3-year contract and you make a commitment to Gerald Henderson if he improves as much as he could. If Henderson does not improve then you have to let him walk...Don't make a big financial commitment to an average player. Then, the Bobcats should make a definite move after Steph Curry (especially if Gerald Henderson does not greatly improve). Curry could take over the 6th man role and Mayo could move into the starting lineup.

Then with their first round pick in the range of 7-10 in the draft I would take the best big physical rebounder available - perhaps Patric Young from Florida. With the Trail Blazers pick between 12-18 in the draft I would take one a Reggie Bullock or P.J. Hairston if they both prove to be knockdown shooters this season. They both have NBA shooting guard bodies and the Bobcats need 3-point shooting. Then in 2013 the Bobcats have:

PG: Kemba Walker/Steph Curry
SG: O.J. Mayo/Steph Curry/P.J. Hairston
SF: Tyrus Thomas/Darius Miller
PF: Anthony Davis/Antawn Jamison/Tyrus Thomas
C: Bismack Biyombo/Byron Mullens/Patric Young

By that time this would be a solid playoff team in my opinion. I know a lot of things would have to fall into place but I believe this should resemble Michael Jordan's two year plan!

What do you think??

Firstly I must say thanks for the effort in your post and that your plan for the most part does make sense aside from cutting Derrick Brown who is a keeper for us as positive guy in the lockeroom who always plays hard and would be fine coming off the bench.

I don't think we would go after Mayo although 5/40 is reasonable I suppose considering thats what a guy like Afflalo is on.

Tyrus Thomas is Horrible at the three and no way we amnesty Maggette to watch him play for a contender and us still pay him ten million when he would just expire anyway.

In response to your effort in your post here is my two year Michael Jordan Draft/Offseason plan-

YEAR ONE: Assuming we have our luck and end up with the number three draft pick-

Amnesty Tyrus Thomas or trade him for a (useful player) bad contract. Cut Diop :-( and let Najera walk.

DRAFT NIGHT:

Sign and Trade DJ. Augustin (5/30m) to New Orleans for Jarret Jack plus NO second round pick number three(?)

Trade first round pick number three to Portland for picks seven plus eleven and take Harrison Barnes at seven and take Jared Sullinger at eleven, Try to package the secound rounders numbers one and three for a late first and take Tony Wroten jr. We may have to use our seconds to move up a spot or two to get Barnes.

FREE AGENCY:

Sign Kwame Brown for two years six million and Antawn Jamison for two years ten million.

Kemba/Jack/Wroten
Henderson/Jack/Williams/Wroten
Maggette/Barnes/D.Brown
Sullinger/Jamison/Biyombo
K.Brown/Biyombo/Sullinger

GOING INTO YEAR TWO-

This line up leaves us with a core of steady vets and prospects along with the allure of a ton cap space next year.

Resign Gerald Henderson for 5/30-5/35m

Play this line up and get another top pick, hopefully Shabazz Muhammed tears up the NCAA next season and we get him top three.

Assuming they have all developed going into year three I like this-

Kemba/Muhammed/Barnes/Sullinger/Biyombo-This core is balanced and has great potential along with twenty to thirty million in cap space.

In your Year 1 lineup i'd definitely have Antawn Jamison starting at the 3 and have Tyrus Thomas coming off the bench at 4.

O.J. Mayo playing backup to Hendo is a little iffy but understandable to me.

In your Year 2 lineup i'd have Steph Curry starting over Kemba.
