So this is interesting.....
From the Bobcats' Facebook page:
Don't miss out on our Pay-The-Pick season ticket offer! Your price per game = our draft pick number. So if we get the #1 draft pick in the lottery, you'll be paying $1 per game! Offer expires May 30th:
Asked a ticket rep which sections the tickets are for and was told 204-205 and 229-230
Even if we wind up with the 4th overall pick (ughh) season tickets would be a maximum $172 per seat, or $129 with the 3rd, $86 with the 2nd and $43 for 1st overall.
Really nice deal if you're not a season ticket holder yet, and I thought my $215/yr for my seats in 205 were already pretty good!

Very interesting and creative concept. Your going to ve sitting in the extreme nosebleeds, I'm sure but, for $1 it's hard to complain.
The team hasn't announced anything yet but, I read in the CBJ that the team will redesign some of the lower bowl, to add more seats. We currently have the smallest lower bowl seating in the entire league. (7600 seats I think). The DNC will tear out some sections to make the TV viewing better. Usually the DNC would rebuild the stadium just as it was before but, I think the Bobcats are going to make changes to the Royal Boxes and ledge seating to make better use of the real estate and get more fans in the bottom.
I think the design of the arena was pretty good overall but, I think it was really dumb not to have 9-10k seats in the lower bowl.

Plan would be for sections 204-205 and 229-230. Upper Level Corners.
Plan would NOT qualify for the season ticket holder trade-in program.

Its freaking brilliant I think. I think it should be reversed though. makes more sense to charge 172 bucks to see Anthony Davis than it does to pay 172 to see MKG. But the numbers arent as cool that way.

Yup...plus the odds are more likely that they'll get any pick 2, 3 or 4 more than it's likely they'll get pick #1. They're definitely selling all of these seats well below cost so they have to place the largest hit financially on the smallest possible risk.
Not sure what their retention rate is either, but I'd also venture to guess that by offering bargain basement prices, the hope is they can get folks in the door, have the product improve and/or folks enjoy what they're paying for (as little as it may be) and up-sell to a better package down the road.

I know the chances of getting the #1 pick are slim but I went ahead and took a chance on getting two seats. Worst case scenario is that I'm spending $350 (plus parking for each game). My schedule probably won't allow me to go to half of them but I will end up selling some of the big games. Its just so much harder to sell one ticket than it is two...

This is incredible. Makes getting the #1 pick and AD even sweeter...because I will buy season tix if we get #1. No doubt about that! 43 freakin bucks!

The offer expires before the draft lottery so the idea is that you are taking a risk. You can't wait until the pick is revealed and then decide if you want to make the purchase or not.

Just officially made my deposit on 2 tix! Cost like 91 total for the 2 tix deposit. Believe he said my seats we row M in Sec. 205.
If I lived in Charlotte I would do this. Well worth it, especially if we got the 1st pick.

Good grief, as a current season ticket holder who renewed and didn't win crap in the 54 days of giveaways, I'm not happy....but I guess they're going with the idea that something is better than nothing, geez....

I felt the same way but the plan doesn't include the ticket trade-in program which I use for probably about 75% of the games I wind up going to. Plus there is likely not a price lock on these -- I've been grandfathered into my season ticket rate for over 5 seasons now.
Still a nice way to put more butts in the seats and continue to build/strengthen a fan base.

Not bad at all! I believe the section goes up to Row T or U, so you are only about 2/3 up in the 200s. I really enjoy the corner seats, and there really isn't a bad seat in the house -- especially at that price!

even if you don't. buy the tix and sell the whole package to a scalper for $8 per ticket. they win on the heat, thunder, clips etc but you win an overall nice score. hell if they are a buck a piece the two heat games will pay for the whole thing twice over.

Yeah I don't really mind sitting up there. I've sat everywhere in the arena...from the first row behind the bench to the top row against the wall. I just enjoy being in the arena! Especially if it's for 43 dollars for the YEAR and I get to see AD every night(HOPEFULLYYYYYYYY)

Still a nice way to put more butts in the seats and continue to build/strengthen a fan base. Yeah, this is sorta how I feel about it. I re-upped for my 6th year overall, and 5th in 215 (upper corner) and in 3 of those 6 years, my price has dropped....not to a buck a seat but still. I'm getting a good deal, I too utilize the ticket trade (especially since now I only get one ticket) which is a fantastic feature that has saved me hundreds over the last 3 years.
Good move by PR/ST sales deptartments!

Dam I'm think about doing this. I have two small one's though, so it's hard for me to get out. For 41 games, that's a great price. Me and my wife still have a pretty good time out there even though the cats don't win.

Does anyone know if the deposit is non refundable? I would love to get two seats at 43 dollars without having to gamble.

Scalpers!!!!
most likely... they could make their money back on just the Lakers game alone and the rest of the season is nothing but profit. I hope some real fans were able to get into those seats vs. scalpers.

What a huge double kick in the nuts if we end up with the fourth pick.

Looks like you will have one more chance to get tickets at $1 per game (or up to $4 per game depending on where we draft), this is from an email I received earlier today. It's a 2 hour window that will butt up against the Draft Lottery and has to be done in person at TWCable Arena. Obviously you have to sign on the dotted line prior to knowing which pick the Cats will get, savvy marketing on their part.

Oh man, I wish I saw this thread a few weeks ago! I'll be moving to Charlotte later this year, so I just bought a couple season tickets in the cheap seats (but not that cheap). The perks for season tickets holders sound like a good value though, and I gather these seats don't include those benefits. Only gripe is that these appear to be in the corners, and I paid significantly more for lesser seats on the baseline.
In any event, looking forward to attending the majority of the Bobcats games in the coming season, regardless of where I sit.

That's very interesting. I just bought season tickets and the account exec didn't mention anything about a price lock. I just assumed that when the team improves in subsequent seasons I'll end up paying more to renew. Maybe you're grandfathered into the grandfathering?

Thanks! Good to be on board. Can't wait to get down there. Now that the important stuff like season tickets is out of the way, I can focus on minor stuff like finding a place to live.
