This is only a thought and don't take this too seriously but I have a slight fear that either lady luck has finally smiled on us and we get AD and he has a spectacular career or we get shitted on again. What would be worse than getting the fourth pick would be getting the 1st and AD becomes a bust. This is what brings up the Sam Bowie factor. He was heavily recruited out of the high school, went to Kentucky (of all school) and projected to be the no 1 pick. He had a decent career but not spectacular as expected. I'm wondering if Jordan sees one of the top five picks as himself and AD as a possible Sam Bowie. just a thought for discussion.

No worries here, we're not the Blazers. Besides, things can't get any worse... or am I inviting great misfortune by saying that?

This is worth discussion, however.....

I have zero worries about Anthony Davis. The only thing that would make him a bust would be injuries. Bowie had a very gruesome leg injury himself with the Blazers, which might have hampered his career. It's painful to watch if you can find the video of it.

Bowie and Ewing played in an era when there were not always shot clocks, so their statistics might be deflated in some way compared to Davis's. HOWEVER, they also played in an era when the 3-pointer was new/experimental and sometimes not even a part of a game. Basically, 3-point spacing as we know it was nonexistent back then. Big men could truly dominate the paint. The 1984 final four included Olajuwon, Ewing, Bowie, Mel Turpin, and Olden Polynice. As the 3-point shot became solidified in the game, you rarely saw a superb, nba-bound 7-footer in the final four. Shaq, Tim Duncan, Alonzo Mourning(played like 7'), and Dikembe Mutombo never made it to the end of the big dance, and they played into their junior and senior years.

All that to say....the fact that, in this era of spacing and jacking up 3-pointers, Davis averaged about TWICE as many blocked shots per game as Bowie, and more per game than the great intimidator Patrick Ewing, is pretty darn impressive.

Toss in that Davis is a good rebounder and extremely efficient as a scorer...I'm completely sold on him.

I did forget to write that Bowie suffer from injuries. But good points

I think if anything he'll turn out like Pervis Ellison if he goes down the route of oft injured big man. I think we'll see a glimpse of his talent for atleast one season and he'll probably put up gaudy numbers and show that he is amazing before returning to his injury riddled career

Anybody can get injured. While Michael Jordan's will and natural body allowed him to be amazing, he could have easily blown out a knee and somebody else would be the face of Nike.

You can't think about injuries unless the guy has a serious issue or pattern of injuries.
