View Full Version : Derrick Brown is an Underrated player

I was very impressed with D-Brown last season, averaging 8.1 PPG, 3.6 Rebs, 1 Ast. His FG % was 52% which is very good and he was very effective coming off the bench. I think he has a future with the Bobcats as a backup SF to Corey Maggette and he stepped up last season when we had injuries.

11th or 12th man.

I think he's a pretty decent player. He could really be a role player if he played better D.

I'd offer him another one year deal, maybe 2 year if second year is an option and not guaranteed...I like Brown, but I don't he score 4 ppg on any team other than our Bobcats, love his energy, just don't think he's more than a 10th or 11th man

yes, he gives 110% when he's on the court which is more than can be said about some other of our players.

He's definitely getting better, I could see him being the 8th or 9th man on a decent team, he really should shoot more, he has a nice jumper, but he's not going to create off the dribble or lockdown anyone on a consistent basis.

THIS...I really like the guy but i think he is nothing more than a garbage minute player.
to answer the title of the thread. derrick brown is properly rated, he is a scrub. practice fodder at best.

i think he his an ok backup SF and if Maggette stays healthy he won't be needed as much next season.

He played excellent defense against Carmelo all season. He still has the same problem he came in the league with, he's a dreaded tweener. If he worked on his handles and shot he'd be a really good backup SF.

he improved his J last season and if he could find consistency he would be a good backup SF like you say

I'm in the same camp.I think he could be better with improved shooting and he's ok as a back up on a shitty team. But he gets most of his points on put backs and he's basically just an energy guy.As our roster improves the next few years, i doubt he'll be here unless he improves quite a bit.If we get will barton in the second round, he may very well be gone by the start of the season.

You can when you desperately need someone @ the 3 to come off the bench and score some points and all you have is a guy who gets garbage put backs and doesn't do much else well.I liked cunningham 100 times better than brown. For what he was being offered,we should have matched.

i liked Cunningham alot becasue he is an all round solid basketball player who scored, rebounded and blocked shots.

I like backups at SF that can stretch the floor and shoot the 3 - If we go with a big man in the draft I'd like a player like James Jones. Simply put, the Cats need people who can SHOOT the ball!

I think we should sign steve novak to come of the bench @ the 3.The knicks probably won't have the money to re-sign him.And as bad as we shot the ball, i'm not sure if there's any money that could possibly be spent better to start fixing that.

Shooters come and go with systems. We can find some specialists after we've established a strong core. We'd be wasting money for now.
Three point specialists and hustle bigs are classic mid level exception types.

i agree we need a 3 point specilist but not right now, we need to build a team around Kemba. Biyombo and hendo

A 3-point specialist is part of that building process. Those guys like to penetrate and shoot mid-range jumpers. You need 3-point specialists so the entire defense does not collapse around those three players you mentioned.
