My Offseason Trades and Free Agency Moves for the Bobcats:
1) Trade the #2 Pick to the Portland Trail Blazers for the #6 and #11 Picks. With the #6 Pick Draft - Andre Drummond [6'11 - C].
2) Trade the #11 Pick to the Boston Celtics for the #21 and #22 Picks. With the #21 Pick Draft - Quincy Miller [6'9 - SF] and with the #22 Pick Draft - Doron Lamb [6'4 - PG].
3) With the #31 Pick draft Darius Miller [6'7 - SF].
4) Trade Corey Maggette (and his expiring contract) to the L.A. Clippers for Caron Butler and Trey Thompkins [6'10 - PF - #37 Pick in 2011 Draft] and Travis Leslie [6'4 - SG - #45 Pick in 2011 Draft]. Once the Bobcats reach 1 Calendar Year since their buyout of Boris Diaw, BUY OUT Caron Butler's contract.
- For those of you who don't know much about Trey Thompkins he has a great offensive feel for the game from posting up, to mid-range, and even the 3-point line.
- Then you have Travis Leslie who at 6'4 has a 6'11 Wingspan and 8'7 Standing Reach to go along with a 41" vertical. He is the definition of an elite athlete that has the potential to be a great perimeter defender. Most probably remember him from his dunk over DeMarcus Cousins.
5) Let D.J. Augustin, Derrick Brown, and D.J. White WALK in Free Agency.
6) SIGN Antawn Jamison to a 2-Year $7 million dollar deal to finish off his career as a Charlotte Bobcat.
7) AMNESTY Tyrus Thomas.
That would leave the Charlotte Bobcats with a 2012/2013 Roster:
PG: Kemba Walker (5'11 - 22 Years Old) - Doron Lamb (6'4 - 20 Years Old)
SG: Gerald Henderson (6'5 - 24 Years Old) - Reggie Williams (6'6 - 25 Years Old) - Travis Leslie (6'4 - 22 Years Old)
SF: Quincy Miller (6'9 - 19 Years Old) - Caron Butler (6'7 - 32 years Old) - Darius Miller (6'7 - 22 Years Old)
PF: Antawn Jamison (6'9 - 36 Years Old) - B.J. Mullens (7'0 - 23 Years Old) - Trey Thompkins (6'10 - 22 Years Old)
C: Bismack Biyombo (6'9 - 20 Years Old) - Andre Drummond (6'11 - 19 Years Old)
That is a lot of young, talented, and athletic players alongside a couple veteran leaders in Jamison and Butler. They will STILL STRUGGLE mightily and be one of the worst teams in the NBA next season but also a team with incredible potential and youth. They would still have excellent financial flexibility heading into 2013 Free Agency and they would still be bad enough to get a Top 5 pick in the 2013 Draft. Add the right Free Agent in 2013 and make the Right Draft Pick in 2013 then this team would have the potential to really make some huge jumps like the Thunder did from the 23 wins in 2008-2009 Season to the 50 win team in 2009-2010 season. I believe these moves would get them on that track! What do you think?

A LOT of youth with question marks on that squad, though I guess the the said no matter who we draft.
I'd be much more interested in this if somehow Robinson dropped to the 6th pick, which seems unlikely at the moment.

It's true, but I think we need to balance the margin of potential with some clear cut players, guys that can definitely make serious contributions, even if not on the level of a franchise player. I don't know enough about those guys to say how they'd make those contributions.
It would be very easy to water down our potential to too many question marks and none of them pan out. If Drummond was replaced with a more solid player (I don't have much of a suggestion other than Robinson), I'd feel a lot better about all of the other young guys.
I think I'd almost rather save the 11 and go after a guy like Kendall Marshall, who seems to at worst give you a reliable floor general.

Drummond will almost assuredly be gone by the 6th pick.
Lamb is a SG.
I dont see much point in drafting D. Miller if we drafted Q. Miller. Would much rather have Tyshawn Taylor or Tony Wroten.
But the trades are pretty realistic... Id be for it.
But I would actually hope to keep #2 and get NO's 10th and somehow use it to get Houstons 14th and 16th.

I think Drummond is worst case a DeAndre Jordan and that's not bad plus I think Doron Lamb is pretty safe reliable backup PG. Quincy Miller is the biggest wildcard of those 1st Rounders in my mind.

I just have a feeling Drummond will be there...I could be wrong though and if I am I would take Harrison Barnes or MKG at #6 and then Fab Melo or Festus Ezeli at #21 and then you could take a Wroten or Teague as a true PG with the #22 pick. Those 3 1st Round Picks would just give the Bobcats so many options!
Also, Lamb is being scouted as a PG in the NBA and he has the ball handling skills to play the position. I take Darius Miller as a backup to Q. Miller who I think has HUGE boom/bust potential.
I love your trade scenario but I think if the Rockets were willing to trade 14 & 16 for #10 New Orleans would make that trade....

From what it sounds like NO wants to get rid of Ariza and his contract.

I'm not quite sure how the Bobcats would even up the salaries b/c Maggette and Ariza don't match up - there would likely have to be a 3rd team in that deal.

I know how explosive Q Miller is and his potential but if you say he has bust potential why draft him and then draft Darius also. Either draft Q cuz you believe in him or not.

Dont think you need 21 to get Lamb, He might even be there at 31 at least i Hope he is. Also I think Lamb will be more of a 2 who can play some point in the league rather than the other way round

Only problem is that puts us right back to square one. That team has no stars and will not be able to win any championships. The only two guys in this draft that have potential to be stars in the NBA are Davis (superstar potential) and Robinson (star potential). MKG, Beal, Drummond, and others have potential to be very good but not good enough to carry a team. Heck, IMO, I don't think Beal will be much more than a solid 6th man at best and Drummond is a huge question mark. Everyone after that is either a role player or a Gerald Henderson type at best.

Well no as we have lots of young pieces that develop in time, plus we would still be bad enough to get a good pick next year. ummmm no? Drummond has more potential than Dawis to be a star. He is 6 ft 11 with a 38 inch vert!

He is large and athletic. Yes. However, that doesn't mean that he will be a star. Heck, he looked lost in college where he was bigger and more athletic than all of the people he faced.

not to be a party pooper but (of course, in my opinion) you have made a common fan-site error with your scenario. the first trade is completely implausible because you did not figure it from portland's perspective.
first look at portland's roster:
pg: ?
sg: wes matthews
sf: will resign batum to probably near max deal
pf: all star LMA
c: ?
the two biggest needs are pg and center. there are no pg's slated for the top 5 and the best pg in the draft will almost assuredly be there at #6. the best center prospect will be a top 5 pick, so the motivation for them to trade #6 and #11 for #2 will be to grab drummond with the 2nd pick. this means that he will certainly not be there for us at #6. robinson won't fall to #6 (sac will definitely take him at #5 if he is there, wash may take him at #3, cle would consider him but would almost assuredly drop down if he were there and they didn't want him). beal won't fall and neither will mkg. that leaves lillard or barnes at #6.
if management determines that lillard is at the top of our board than this is a good trade. if not, it has zero chance of happening. if it doesn't happen we don't have #11 which kills the rest of the scenario.

I never said he would be a star!!!! You were talking about star potential!!! I said he has the most potential top be a star after Davis. Those are totally different things, he has the tools to be a star. More so than Robinson

i would rather have drummond or robinson ten times over before barnes. i would not trade down and pass on those guys for robinson. i would take lillard before barnes and try to get j.lamb at 11. but i am not in favor of doing that.
either way, it all depends on how the front office rates the players.

If we like Robinson, we've gotta take him at 2. I've read that Washington would be interested in him at 3, so even if we did the much-loved trade with Cleveland to 4, I don't think Robinson is still there. Plus once we move out of 2, somebody could WOW Washington with a trade up into the 3 spot to grab Robinson before us at 4. IMO, if there are no hitches with Robinson's workout/interview process with us, we stay at 2, and select him. Trade with NO to get Ariza and the #10, and select Harkless. At 31, take the best shooter/combo guard/player that slipped to be a 6th man and go home from draft night happy. We are not fixing this team in one night, and we are not getting a Superstar franchise changing player at all either. We are getting very solid pieces to an incomplete puzzle.

I would definitely stay put @ 2 and take robinson.I would take one of new orleans bad 2 year contracts is i had to if there gonna give up the 10 pick with it as they have said. Then i would pray that lillard is there @ 10,if not i would select marshall. Then i would select miller if he really is falling out of the 1st round, which is being speculated right now.If not,i would trade 31 and next years portland pick to move up and get him.Having blown my knee out twice,i can tell you that no matter how fast they fix it,the strength doesn't fully come back until year 2.I think he's gonna be really good.In free agency i would go after jamison and batum(who not going to get near a max deal, and who's contract we could front load the shit out of)to improve our depth @ the forward spots and i would sign deshawn stevenson to back up hendo. He's always been underrated and would provide great perimiter d and 3 point shooting.Of course we would have to amnesty tyrus to make this stuff work totally(if we got the pick from n.o. and went after batum)but if not,we could always go after a cheaper solution like wilson chandler.I think these otions would give us a good blend of youth and leadership and still helps us keep some flexibility a few years down the road.

Lillard would be nice, but we would need to get rid of DJ. I would like Ross at 10 as well due to his all around game and elite athleticism on the 6'6 frame.
We need to upgrade our SF position badly, the FO needs to find someway to get back into the first for Miller or HArkless.
Then we could come away with the draft with
Thomas Robinson
Damian Lillard / Terrence Ross
Quincy Miller / Moe Harkless
But fug it I also want Fab Melo! I really want Houston's and Boston's picks to make for a truly spectacular draft.

Atleast coming away with 3 really good players.
Robinson
Miller or Harkless

Firstly I must say that this thread is tremendous and there are a lot of possibilities out there and the Portland trade makes the most sense but trading the eleven for both of Boston's picks is genius.
Things to consider: I really think Washington and Sacramento are throwing smokescreens out there in terms of Robinson, Washington in my opinion is sold on Beal/MKG and Sacramento I believe want Drummond/Barnes/MKG, Cleveland's priority is Barnes/Gilchrist/MKG. We are the only team in the top five who would take Robinson at number two, as much as I like him that makes me wonder how the scouts view Robinson's ceiling.
Robinson would definitely be available if we didn't pick him at two and he has a great chance to be a steal at six.
Boston would trade both their picks for eleven to draft Austin Rivers imo.
As difficult as it is to attach S&T to draft picks we could seriously look at trading DJA 5yrs/30m for Okafor+Jack+#10
I would seriously be happy with Robinson/MKG/Drummond/Barnes at two or six.

It's pert near impossible Sik...we can't even talke to DJ about a S&T until July 1st which is after the draft. I can't imagine any team agreeing to trade assets without knowing what he'd do one way or another.
