I wouldn't do it. If the Thunder can't afford him.. Wait until next season and make an offer when he is a RFA.
No reason to throw away the #2 pick when we can make him an offer next off season. If they are trading him for salary cap reasons, I can't see them matching an aggressive offer.
( I prefer the separate threads vs. reading pages of different trades in the same thread.)

That's what I was thinking too. If they know they can't re-sign him now, won't be able to next year.

why you stirring up junk, lol
I would love Harden and every other team too. If we can get him, good. Just imagine what he can do as the alpha dog instead of the 3rd option
i like separate threads too

The chances of him resigning here when his contract is up are about the same as the Bobcats winning the title this season.

Id do it. Harden is better than anybody we can get at #2 and gives us a legit star to build around.

#2 for Harden and their 1st round pick only if Harden extends. If he does then...

Salary cap decisions could force their hand to be proactive about it.

No way OKC would take this right now. I think they find a way to make James Harden fit into the salary...Everyone has a big 3 with 3 max contracts, OKC could do the same if they wheel and deal right...No way we could get him for just the #2 pick. Remember the guy is a PROVEN #3 overall pick...reigning 6th man of the year...Big gamble to essentially move up one spot for a risk

As a Thunder fan, I definitely don't see them letting The Beard go. He's plays a huge role in why they are where they are now. They'll definitely try to pull some strings to keep him there.

I think the possibility has better odds then it appears. OKC (small market) is going to face cap issues pretty darn soon and their contracts go up every year when most likely the cap will be decreasing. Durant/Westbrook will be making 30 million +, add in Harden for 14 million and Ibaka for 10 they're at 54 million for 4 freaking players. They also have Perkins big ass contract going 3 more years at between 8-9 million...and I don't know how tradable he would be for expirings.
They're not going to get as good a deal if they end up letting Harden go as a FA...nowhere close.
If we're looking at Shaw Harden can be his stud SG (has the triangle ever been successful without one?). He's young and won't even be 30 by the time a max contract would end.
I'm leaning towards doing it if it was offered.

If he'd sign an extension do it but I can't see him doing it nor the Thunder.
