View Full Version : Season Tickets for My Husband

Ya'll may know my husband who posts on here quite a bit under the name "CharlotteHornets". We have had season tickets for the Bobcats for the last 5 seasons and he has probably missed only 10 home games over those 5 seasons. That includes last years brutal season where the Bobcats were obviously the worst team ever!!!
Of course he wants to buy season tickets again this season but I am not to keen on the idea. He tells me that he doesnt want to jump of the bandwagon because the team is bad and then jump back on when they get good. Being a Kentucky grad and a huge basketball fan I know all about bandwagon fans and they are one of my big pet peeves.
With all that being said, if this team is going to be awful again this season why should I say it's ok to get season tickets?? He said I should read some stuff on here and maybe I would change my mind and say lets get tickets...but I'm just not sold on this team getting better!

Because what else are you going to do 41 nights a year? But seriously, you made it through last year, nowhere to go but up.

Well first of all, he clearly seems to be a dedicated fan. Going from only missing 10 games in 5 seasons, to not going unless you have single game tickets is a big difference for a real fan. You don't wanna take that away from him.
Plus, we have a great future ahead of us. Kemba, Bismack and Hendo are great young guys and we'll add at least 1 more great young guy to the mix a week from today in the draft. new coach Mike Dunlap, GM Rich Cho and Rod Higgins, along with MJ will get this team where it needs to be. This year is the start of a great future for the team. As you said, you don't wanna look like you gave up on them at a low point only to jump back on when they become good(or get the Hornets name back for that matter).

Thanks guys! He always trys to explain Rich Cho to me and why he could make the team better...He says I should just watch Oklahoma City and thats what we will be in 5 years...Is that realistic??

It is realistic. The guy that built that team is now building our team. So yes, definitely realistic.

Being a Kentucky grad I was really hoping we were going to get the #1 Pick so that we could draft Anthony Davis like I think everyone else was...I hope they don't pick MKG because he cant score and that was the most brutal parts of the games last year. I have never seen a pro team be so bad at shooting!

One of the best feelings is supporting a team with your entire heart when they're at their lowest, then cheer as they rise from the ashes. I supported a team like the Bobcats, hit rock bottom and finished last in their league, but now are one of the premiership contenders (like being able to compete for the trophy) and it was a long ride, but sure as hell worth it. Sounds like your man has a diehard attitude for the Bobcats and loves his bball.

If only I had the resources to buy season tickets I would. If hes been that dedicated even after last year I see no reason why to stop now. Especially now when tickets are cheap.

No two ways about it...we're going to stink next year, but NOTHING like last year. I agree with everyone else that we have bottomed out and with the new coach I think we'll see a much improved product on the court. We're still going to lose but I think we'll be much more entertaining.
If you and he's willing don't let him quit now.

Sam Presti is still in Oklahoma. Cho was his understudy

I am from England, I would pay the price of a season ticket just to see them once! Everyone in Charlotte is so lucky and people should not take it for granted that they can go to a game. Also just to go to one man united game over here is £50 or more. The Bobcats season tickets seem cheap!

It sounds like CharlotteHornets and LadyHornet have been very committed fans in the past. They've already attended more NBA games than I will be able to afford in my lifetime.
I say while the team is still bad, compromise and get a 10-20 game package.
Do that for a few seasons until the Bobcats are good again.

Maybe instead explore some other things that the city has to offer?? Just for a few years??

So we were able to work out our ticket situation! We are going to renew our season tickets and we have some friends that were thinking about season tickets so we are just going to split the games and split the price of the tickets...So I will still get to go to half of the games which is nice. Now the fun part will be dividing up the games and debating who will get to see the Lakers, Thunder, Clippers, and other best games...
@adam187...I'm sorry but LadyHornet only has 3 older brothers

It wouldn't suprise me if they looked good to you on a Friday night after a few too many drinks (i.e. 40 beers)...lol...and I'm not sure anyone in her family can cook...when we go see her family for Thanksgiving and Christmas they order out...

Dulls the senses and gives you excuse to make frequent trips to the bathroom...and maybe get sidetricked and find an empty room with a tv in it along the way.
Glad y'all came to a compromise and, like me, will be starting up your sixth year as STH come fall.

Ya'll are a trip!! I was laughing so hard reading this...and trust me none of ya'll would ever ever ever want to see my brothers in wigs and pumps...i shudder when that mental image enters my mind...lol
@TheBeagle - my grandparents are Southern Baptist and the reunion will be on their farm in Kentucky with zero alcohol...and they don't have cable TV...if he is good betweeen now and then I may be able to bribe him by saying he can bring a flask....so many good bribes are coming out of letting him get season tickets...lol

I read the entire thread and all I want to say is if these were my grandparents, I wouldn't care if they were kin I would never, ever visit them. I don't even visit one set of grandparents and they only qualify for half of that one.
