The Observer had an article about it. I would like a day to spent in there in the room to see it work.
http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2012/06/23/3337874/bobcats-hope-massive-revamp-of.html
I also would like to see how current players on the roster rate under his system
The rankings: Franchise, Core, Top starter, Starter, Key reserve, Reserve, Roster, Minor-league, No-Bobcat.
obviously Corey Higgins had to rate other than No-Bobcat. lol

You've got to cover the monkey paw in sage residue first.

The farther they keep Higgins away from it the better.

For what it's worth, Bonnell said that Cho's presence has been somewhat overrated and that Higgins is still a respectable GM.
Take that endorsement for what you will.

For someone who has been working in I.T. and in databases for 20+ years AND is a ridiculous basketball junkie, It would be orgasmic to work on a project like that.

I'm curious to know who in the NBA Cho considers to be a 'Core' level talent in his nine-level system. I'm guessing 'Franchise' guys would be Durant & LBJ, and 'Core' would be Westbrook & Wade? I like that it seems pretty stringent, with less than 10 players in the league being considered 'Franchise'.
How would you guys break down our current roster at this point and time? Here's how I see it.
Franchise - None
Core - None
Top Starter - None
Starter - Corey Maggette, Gerald Henderson
Key Reserve - Kemba Walker, D.J. Augustin, Bismack Biyombo
Reserve - Byron Mullens, Tyrus Thomas, Derrick Brown, D.J. White, Reggie Williams
Roster - Eduardo Najera, Matt Carroll
Minor-League - Jamario Moon, Corey Higgins
No-Bobcat - DeSagana Diop

Looks pretty safe.
10 Franchise guys:
Lebron, Kobe, Durant, Rose, Nowitzki, Paul, Deron, Love, Howard, Duncan?
Duncan may be too past his prime to be top 10, but not sure about another clear candidate.

I don't think you could build a franchise around Nowitzki and Duncan anymore.

with this system where would our draft prospects rate
Starter: Beal?
Key Reserve: Robinson? (starter for Cats),Barnes,MKG

I would think they dropped to core or starter at this point in their careers

You're probably right, but I was trying to figure out who he'd have in mind. Also, does that define their role right now or a projection over the next few years.
If you picked teams for one year, I think both guys might still make it, but wouldn't choose them if I was building a franchise.
Who would you choose other than those two?

I'd put all of those guys in starters. Remember, there are 30 teams in the league.

John Wall and Rondo may have been on that list. John Wall has the potential and Rondo makes such a huge impact on the game.

Agree that Rondo could be on the list. Also Blake Griffin is in the conversation too.

I agree with this that Blake Griffin is a possibility.
I wonder if the players have 2 sets of ratings...1 for their current ratings and 1 for their projected ratings?

Or like an "OG" marking, meaning Original Gangsta, or just Old Guy. Or Overripe Gentleman.
Bonnell said that Cho's presence has been somewhat overrated and that Higgins is still a respectable GM.
Because without Higgins, Ricky B would know absolutely nothing about the inner workings of the team. Bonnell is so far up Higgins ass he completely trashed LB when LB commented about "spies" in the FO.
As for Cho's board, it said there were "fewer than 10" franchise players so I'd say that means 8 or 9: LBJ, Durant, Kobe, Rose, Dwight, Wade, CP3, Westbrook, and mayyyybe Rondo or Melo, although I would rank both of them as "core" rather than "franchise." Cho probably also has some metric of if you have 2 core players, you're a playoff team, if you've got three (Indy) you're a contender, but you have to have both a franchise player AND 2 core players to win a ring...or something similar, you get the picture. And I'd imagine the ratings are for what you'd expect them to be for the forseeable future if you acquired them. I.E. if you ranked Anthony Davis as "franchise" that'd be what you'd expect his best to be with you, not his immediate role. And vice versa for someone like Dirk being "core."
As for our team, here's what I'd say for who we had last year based on if they were acquired today (i.e. not necessarily now, but over their time with the team if they were just brought in).
Franchise - none
Core - none
Top Starter - Bismack
Starter - Kemba, Hendo
Key Reserve - DJ, Maggette, Mully
Reserve - Reggie, Diaw, Tyrus
Roster - UPS, DJ2
Minor League - Higgins, Moon, Najera
No Bobcat - Carroll, Diop
But based on last year, Hendo was the only one who qualified for anything over key reserve, and only DJ was in the key reserve category.

Maybe, but I think Higgins is probably smarter than most of us give him credit, it's just that the Bobcats were trying to do too much with too little for the longest time. Consider that the rebuilding plan began months before the Cho hire, and that the FO HIRED Cho to help them execute the plan. It wasn't like they were stumbling around in the dark.

totally agree. Some people need a simple answer. The Bobcats weren't good, soooo Higgins must be an idiot. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. A lot of plans don't work out, but that doesn't mean they were the wrong plans. People seem to forget that you don't have the pleasure of knowing something won't work out beforehand. People also seem to forget that this is an expansion franchise that is squarely in the margin of error of respectable beginnings. A few moves different here and there and sure we would have more wins in the W column, but as an expansion franchise, you really don't stand a chance the first 8-10 to do anything of worth. Regardless, the correct decision was made to blow it up and start fresh, start right. Higgins deserves some credit.

I never thought he was an idiot. My gut feeling is that he just wasn't one to really challenge Jordan in his beliefs.

Yea I agree with that also. I didn't want to come across that Higgins has been perfect, he hasn't been at all. I just think he deserves SOME of the credit that Cho gets. Either way I'm not gettin paid no matter who gets the credit so deep down I don't care. Just didn't feel right to cast him as the village idiot.

So now Cho is going to own stock in EA sports when they try to blend his database into their player rankings.
The Bobcats war room will have Cam Newton's Gaming Room and 2 gamers battling away one-on-one at NBA-LIVE 2013-Cho'sanity to break any ties Cho might encounter when it's our turn to pick (at 31)

well the dust chip trade was probably the worst trade i can remember and somebody should be held accountable for that fiasco. i mean, the team has ended up paying more to diop and matty ice than it would have if they had just kept chandler and taken the cap hit for that one year and then let him walk.

I think getting Diop from Dallas for Carroll & Hollins was the worst trade. Diop has done nothing for us and his contract increased $500k-750K/year, Hollin's was an expiring contract and Carroll's has been declining.
The Dust chip ....I suppose you could argue that allowed us to sign Tyrus (careful what we wish for)
