How about these wacky facts?:

Brad Beal, Kendall Marshall, and Harrison Barnes steal the ball more often than MKG.

"Jump shooter" Harrison Barnes earns free throws more frequently every wing prospect projected to be in the first round. And that is pace adjusted.

I thought MKG was the greatest defensive prospect in 10 years at SF? Even though he doesn't do any particular aspect of defense extremely well. "yeah but he's a lock down defender" Matt Carroll would be a lock down defender on that Kentucky team.


Stats aren't always perfect, but they sure as hell beat hype any day.

from watching live games i think MKG is a better defender than Barnes and he has a better motor

In fairness, MKG still rates as a good shotblocker compared to the other wings, and a great rebounder.

I just think if he's gonna be called the next Gerald Wallace, he ought to produce way more steals and a few more blocks.

Very true. If a team is often playing a zone or facing a zone, it would alter things.

But for what it's worth, the stats are pace adjusted.

I wouldn't say steals are the best way in determining if you are good on defense. Off ball steals are probably based more on the defender on the ball and instincts as an off ball defender. But I wouldn't look at steals and use that as a determining factor or even the primary factory to determine if you are good on D.
