According to multiple sources, the Bobcats are trying to convince teams interested in the second pick to also take back disappointing power forward Tyrus Thomas, who has more than $26 million remaining on his contract. Thomas is coming off the worst season since his rookie year as he averaged just 5.6 points and 3.7 rebounds. When asked if teams would be willing to touch Thomas, one Western Conference executive said, “I don’t think so.”
They are trying to trade the pick but I think the are asking too much and may bid themselves out of any trade. But nice try though.

the last line is typical. it is written in such a way that reads as a negative. what is the worst that can happen? we don't get a trade and we use the 2nd overall pick in a solid draft on the player of our choosing. we are negotiating these talks from a position of strength, no need to compromise.

True, I was a little blinded by the fact that maybe if it was for multiple picks, that would be the goal in this draft. The bonus would be rid of TT's contract. perfect trade partners being Cle, Por or Hou.

If Cho could figure out a way to get rid of Tyrus and still get Robinson.....(and he do so making the other teams think they were getting the better end of the deal).

They gotta try, so I'm glad they are at least doing so. Gotta figure there is someone out there with a not-quite-as-awful contract as TT that we could take. Kinda the reverse of the Mags/Gordon trade.

This is what you do. You ask for the universe , and settle for the world, and hope someone is desperate enough to give you everything you want. Do I think someone takes on Thomas and his contract , nope, but at the same time you never know unless you try.

yeah, if we can get rid of TT, it makes BG contract look more appealing. Better return on investment

Definitely agree with making inquiries about anyone taking the plague of Tyrus off our hands but I would worry that the asking price of taking Tyrus for any team would be the worth the second pick alone. I know we'd have to take back salary (right?) to make it work, but as great as it would be to have Tyrus off the books and off the roster, I don't think it's worth giving away the second pick for.
Basically, the second pick alone yields great return; the second with Tyrus yields much less return.
