I know that all may not agree with this. But seeing how we decided to draft for mainly defensive purposes in the Draft with MKG and Taylor, and also seeing that Dunlap really wants to Stress the 3 Ball and fast pace this coming year. I think DJ would thrive under this new look offense and we could use his shooting touch still. Does anyone else agree with me? I hope that there is a way to resign him.

I don't know. Arguably, the point guard position has never been more important in the NBA than it is now because of the no-handcheck enforcement. Unless you assemble a roster like the Miami Heat, it's probably the most important position on the team. There's no position where you would rather have a franchise player than at the 1 because he handles the ball more than any other player. Look at the great teams other than Miami - Boston, Chicago, OKC, San Antonio all have top tier points. Look at the difference Paul made to the Clippers. It's really hard to commit to a guy at that position that seems to have a ceiling of being an average NBA PG.

The last three starting PGs to win a championship are Mario Chalmers, Jason Kidd's corpse, and Derek Fisher.

I don't think we should re-sign him. He's not a long term fix, so why pay him like one. Sign a vet to backup, and mentor Kemba, and look for a franchise point guard in the next offseason, through the draft or free agency. Unless of course Kemba makes big strides this year, then just look for a solid backup.

No thank you. I don't mind him as a 6th man bench guy, but DJ probably won't be looking for that role, nor the $$ that comes with it. I'd rather see what Kemba has for year 2 under Dunlap, and then reasess the situation after 2013.

If the Bobcats are building this around defense......there's no way you're bringing back DJ Augustin, especially when he's a defensive turnstile

unless DJA would except a key reserve/6 man role at a reasonable salary, I don't see him returning. He maybe wanting starting pay and starting position. Don't think he will get it here.

If he really wanted to be here and was reasonably priced, probably. But he doesn't seem like he wants to play here and I don't think he'll be cheap. Let him fly and get an o.k. veteran point for the next two years.

The guy was a mistake from day one.
He's currently a better point guard than Kemba, but if Walker has any ounce of a work ethic, that will soon change.
Let DJ move on and go to a team where he has some weapons to work with. He could have a nice career playing backup for a decent squad.
I'm done with the mighty mite small ball b.s. If you are going to build around Kemba, you surround him with some length and athleticism, because he is a defensive turnstile in his own right.

I definitely think Kemba has more work ethic, and a better attitude than DJ. DJ disappointed me to no end last year.

We are already massively undersized with Kemba and Gordon combining for 50+ minutes a night next year. I hope we get a big point guard for the second unit, or at least one with tremendous length.
Quit screwin' around with physically-limited players and get some potential champions in here. MKG and 'Smack could be a good start.

Exactly. Whenever somebody talks about PG and C being the most important positions, I want to shoot somebody. Check out the awesome array of PG's and C's who won titles for the Bulls.
And even when Rondo helped win it for the Celtics, their 3 studs were neither PG's nor C's.

im not sure wheather we should resign DJ or not, Shaun Livingston would be the perfect backup PG to kemba !

I didn't mean to imply that DJ had poor work ethic and attitude. For all I know he might be a great guy. He just has a very low ceiling, he was a stupid draft pick, and I wish him the best somewhere else where doesn't have to carry a big load.

I loved Livingston when he was here. I don't know what his status is or how he did in Milwaukee...

he was starting at Shooting Guard at the beggining of the season but then got limted minutes off the bench. He would be a perfect solution

I like DJ and think he's a much, much, better passer at this point than Kemba is and possibly ever will be. I like Kemba's ability to run down the court, but neither are going to be great players. If Kemba ever does more than 15 ppg and 6 apg then his career is a success in my eyes, he is just not a great PG and I think in 2-3 years we are selecting another PG in the draft yet again.
With that said as much as think DJ is better, he's just not that good either and certainly not worth what he will most likely get in a contract. Hopefully like the draft picks tonight Kemba will prove me wrong, but can't say I'm excited about our future. Henderson will be a solid player, but I don't think we have a player on this team that is an all-star. Biyombo may make a DPOY run one day, but no all-stars on this current team, therefore no one should be paid like one or close to one.

I think we should play out the bird rights and see what we can get him for. I am really interested to see what other teams are going to pay. There is always a team in free agency that misses there main guy and then shits the bed on a big contract for a second option. It all depends on the money, we don't want a contract that is hard to move later. If somebody offers DJ something stupid I would be happy for him but walk away. My best guess is he plays next year under the qualifying offer in a Raymond Felton type situation.

He was given HIS perfect coach, had every opportunity to take over leadership of this team...came in saying HE and the team were being disrespected and had something to prove and failed miserably. He even quit on the freaking team at the end of the season!
DJ doesn't try on defense. Martin mentioned that Jordan was even ragging him on his crap D.
Why in the hell would we want him back?
