Apparently, Black and I just posted this at the same time so please merge mods!
I also want to add, if this means we rescind the QO from DJ as some have suggested and don't get anything back from Indy, I will shit a brick.

Seems we all (me, you, Proudiddy) saw this at the same time, I posted in the free agent/offseason thread, and you two had threads...overall good addition, gives us a bit more size at PG, I do wonder if its simply a one year deal, or if its longer. Can't imagine Sessions expected to come to us as a backup when he opted out of Lakers deal...can't see him getting 4.6M a year either...
Hope we can still do a S&T with Indy

Sign and trade. What are we sending back to the Lakers? That is what I want to know. 2013 2nd is gone already. So hope it is a player we dont want. Perhaps DJ? Even better, maybe Carroll!

Do we know for sure its a sign-and-trade? I saw a few twitter accounts mention that but I wouldn't really call them the most reliable sources. Has Woj or Spears mentioned this?

I saw the sign and trade tweet too.
We have cap space and don't need sign and trade unless we are dropping a turd on them.
I bet it's an outright signing.

I don't know, I could be fine with Kemba as a 6th man, brings tons of energy.

Yeah Ramon Sessions lit it up and did so well as a starter for the Lakers that the Lakers grab an old outdated Steve Nash to replace him without knowing if his production will take a huge fall. Sessions is really a big step up from DJ. ::) Please. If he could not cut it with all the great talent around him how the hell is he supposed to be a big step up from DJ? I hope it works out but I don't see the big improvement over DJ that you all seem believe is the case. Time will tell.
Before someone reacts like an ass let me just say it only shows your less than average IQ and makes you look bad. If those of you who want act childish on the post need to do so fine but I have better class than to get into a childish fight with anyone who may wish to do so. Not that anyone will do so but just letting those who wish to behave in such a way know ahead of time that I won't take the bait.

I think Dunlap is tailoring our offense for Kemba.. Remember Sessions is from the Carolinas so the prospect of coming home could play a factor.. I honestly just think we are looking for some instant offense off the bench with the likes of Gordon and Sessions. We got two playmakers who can put the ball in the basket. Plus Sessions is perfect to come in and keep running.. We want to run run run. Plus he's a big guard, something we didn't have with the Kemba, DJ combo. We'll see but I think it's def Kemba's job to lose.

After Dunlap's comments about Kemba and what we have invested in his draft slot, I think Sessions is the backup. When I envision Sessions' career, it is that of a back-up with an outside shot as a starter. I don't doubt that if Sessions outplays Kemba and earns the spot that he would be the starter, but I don't see that happening, IMO. From what Bonnell was saying on The Fan yesterday, Kemba looks way ahead of last year in the limited practices that he has seen thus far.

For a guy that has been in the league for years and has a career average of barely double digits and 5 assists he should be lucky and happy just to be a backup.
Not sure where people are getting that he is starting material...

He's a good signing for 2nd PG but reports were that he definitely wanted to sign with a team where he would start. Maybe those situations dried up and we told him that he could at least compete for the position?
Sessions is a journeyman PG. I'd hate to think we'd push one of our few valued assets to the side in order to let him start.
Also...I want o see the contract. 4 per or less/3 years or less I'm good. If this got into MLE territory then not so much.

I don't think dunlap is the kind of guy who would have promised anybody a starting job yet.I believe every player on this team is starting from scratch this year. And i love the sessions signing. Now just bring in jamison and haywood and that will make us a legit 2 deep @ every position without breaking the bank and give us a chance to start building a foundation.

Decent signing, I kind of look at Sessions as a kind of George Hill player, underated but with the ability to start. It's gonna be a tricky time share at the point as FO want to develop Kemba but Sessions is gonna want his minutes. Not to disimilar from the situation in Cleveland pre Kyrie eruption (though different talent levels). Also did anyone see how he completely dissapeared in the playoff's. Ty Lawson carved him apart in the first round and then he got mutilated by Westbrook in the matches I caught. Awell atleast he can run the P an R better than any PG still on the market.

This gives us a "big" PG, which helps the D vs the bigger PGs. LIKE this move!
Sessions actuall CHOSE to opt out of the last year of his Lakers contract; Lakers DID NOT dump him. Nash was signed after this happened.
At this point, from what I've sen of their NBA play, I'd say Sessions has more going for him than DJ. JMO...

Very glad to hear this. As a player, he's elicits a sort of 'whatever' when his name comes up (20 something assists he got in a game, if I recall though is impressive) but he fills a needed vacancy, chose to come here of his own volition, is mentally stronger than DJ and is adequate at the 1. But the 2 years assures me he is just filler, a place holder, so I'm very much in favor of the signing without even needing to see the salary.

I wanted a PG who was a bit of a better defender, even though Sessions is bigger his defense is actually pretty average/sub par. However, with the no hand check rule and the general speed of point guards in todays league it is so hard to be a good defender at the PG position. I think Sessions will fit the system quite well as he looks to attack the rim in transition. Sessions-Kemba are more similar to each other than DJ-Kemba so that will make the offence more suited to both of them. I think this is a pretty good pick up. I mean this guy started for the lakers in the post season, now he is our backup. I know he didn't light it up in the play offs but just to have someone who has been in that situation is useful (why don't we get Morrison back, he has the experience of 2 rings!)

A PG on the Lakers (or Heat) is different than a PG on most other teams. Tho I read that Sessions played well for them (sans playoffs) I wouldn't let his time with them influence my opinion that much. He's a decent journeyman PG and that's what we needed and his skillset shoud fit in prety nicely beside Gordon.
Sessions' D is worse than DJ's D? If Sessions even tries on D I find that hard to believe. Either way I imagine Dunlap will get the most possible out of him.

Sorry, but i must respectfully disagree. DJ is a very small PG who has had alot of issues staying on the taller PG's in the NBA. DJ is very quick, and can stay in front, but he is NOT even an average perimeter defender. I like DJ's game and really liked him as a player, but his small stature leaves alot to be desired... Now if he could score 20ppg, then I don't think you would of seen a change here. Sessions is by far a better perimeter defender, his issue will be staying in front.
I think we signed a really good player who will help us.

Sessions biggest problem is that at times he just vanish..literally. When they played the Thunder he did it a lot and throughout the season, faithfully. Just plays so uninspired.. i hope this coach can help him with his inconsistent ways, because he does have talent. Smart to sign him to a 2yr deal, not much commitment and he still has enough value to trade if his first year dont pan out. Bravo, front office.

I'm sorry but whatever the fuck that is, looks like the lamest thing I have ever seen. Its an animated show about a team full of skinny, baby faced white boys with Beiber haircuts ranging in color from magenta to powder blue. 4 looks like he is wearing 80's stepdad glasses. They are all floating in a baby blue gradient limbo. 11 looks like he is getting rear-pounded by Magenta hair, 7 looks simultaneously like he is smugly farting and falling in love with the right hand border. Also green hair has inexplicable hipster glasses on WHILE IN UNIFORM and presumably playing, and looks kind of like a art school lesbian.

Retail. I was afraid of that.
That's why we got him...we showed him the money.
After watching how defensively intense we were last night how do you guys think he'll work under Dunlap? Anyone know of his work ethic? On RGM some were trying to say his D was nearly as weak as DJs but that's hard for me to believe. Looking back I see Chef & Plow mentioned it as well.
If his D is sub par/ lacks intensity there shouldn't even be a discussion on who'll be starting just on that fact alone.

I would question whether or not he's been asked to play with intensity. I will give him the benefit of the doubt until he gives me a reason not to. I'm sure he has a good idea of what Dunlap expects him to be able to do. From reading a little on other boards, some say he can push it when asked, but was often kept from doing that during his short time in LA. The ball ran through Kobe, no questions asked.

Really? I had read 3 yrs/10 million which is a pretty good deal for the Knicks assuming Felton can drop some pounds.

He is relatively athletic and long so I don't know why he wouldn't be able to play defense. I actually think that intense defense is one of the easiest basic skills to teach a player.
I completely agree with Black that he may just not have been asked to play this way. I know that sounds simple but I have certainly seen it on a youth level. Again, with Black, I have high expectations until proven different.

I was citing Hoophype which had a tweet from Sam Amick saying it was 4 years and $18 mil, but it did say there was some issue on the terms. Have not seen it anywhere else, so if you have heard 3 years at $10 mil, I wont argue. And those numbers are a bit better for the Knicks than what Amick tweeted. Guess we will hear something more definitive soon enough.
Edit: I see the ESPN article saying 3 years and $10 mil. Guess it will get straightened up soon enough.

Not yet. I wonder if it has to do with Cho's availability with SL in Vegas and Sessions previous commitment to this camp (http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2012/07/17/3388633/a-bobcat-in-myrtle-beach-07172012.html) in South Carolina. Obviously they could've broken away from each for a day, but why break away if you can just do it later?
