View Full Version : The Farewell to DJ Augustin Thread (and possibly ballwhore?)

We've all pretty much knew it was coming, but with Charlotte rescinding his qualifying offer DJ Augustin is 99% gone (I leave the 1% because crazier things have happened). With that said, its only proper we send him off right, because while he wasn't a star, and we should have taken Brook Lopez over him, Augustin provided moments of greatness for us. At times, particularly last year, he was the best player on the floor for us, and through his time here in Charlotte he never complained, even when Larry Brown decided he hated Augustin moments after drafting him.

With DJ's departure, I wonder now what becomes of ballwhore. I for one will be sad if he leaves, so ballwhore, know that you are always welcome here, and that we may page you occasionally should some rumor regarding DJ or the Pacers surface.

Best of luck to Augustin in the future, and I hope his career goes in a better direction than the last starting point guard to leave us.

Best of luck to DJ. Hope he does well in Indiana and has a long productive career. Ballwhore, thank you for your insight over the past year. Anytime you hear anything blowing in the breeze about our Bobcats, stop by and fill us in on it. And please give our best to DJ and tell him we hope his upcoming wedding results in a long and happy marriage!

I'm happy for DJ he's going to a great situation, this works great for both sides... we didn't want really want him here and he gets to go to a place where he'll compete for the starting job right off the bat for a team that almost beat the NBA Champions in the playoffs. I would have liked a sign-and-trade but best of luck DJ!

Was that the fasted receding of an offer to joining a new team in NBA history?

Might be. Literally happened 10 minutes later.

I wish only the best for DJA - I'll root for him to kick ass anywhere he goes (Pacers I guess) w/ the exception of when he plays us. I think he always showed he had a hell of a lot of heart and for a while there, he was a Crash Jr. in how little he seemed to regard his own well-being for the hopes of a score. I think he played hurt more than his off-the-court time detailed last year and I think that's to his credit. Best of luck wherever he goes. And I'll miss ballwhore's insights for sure.

Much more disappointed in losing BW than DJ. All the best to both.

I liked DJ, he was my fav player on the Team and most talented imo, (just like felton was) i thought he was worth more then a 1 year deal to the pacers, hopefully he gets a starting oppurtunity there or somewhere else

Hope dj steals the starting spot then signs a big longterm contract somewhere. I will miss his always pissed off look on the court and making fun of his chin strap. Always respected the way he went up against dudes twice his size.

I'm going to miss D.J. for a different reason. I became an official member the summer right before we drafted D.J. and it kinda feels weird seeing him go. I wanted D.J. to be the starter, franchise type player. He was never really terrible, just not good enough all the time. I do hope he has a better time in Indy, but since we play them, sorry D.J. but you are now another target

Best of Luck to DJ in Indy. We'll still see him twice a year in Charlotte.

I wish him all of the best in Indy and parlay the 1-year deal into a solid 4-5 year deal somewhere as a starter. I hate placing blame, but I believe deep down, if LB wasn't the coach, DJ would be a solid starting PG for us. If "if's" and "buts" right? Anyway, DJ was a class act and enjoyed him while he was here with the 'Cats.

He is on the way to the airport to Indy as we speak.....type rather................. Stay in touch, bw! No offense to your bro-in-law, but you'll be missed more here than DJ.

I think it was obvious that both sides had had enough of each other and I'm glad it was an amicable split. DJ was always a hell of a shooter (this nightmare year besides) and appeared to give max effort and he had some enjoyable moments here, and for that I'll miss him.

Yeah DJ was not the guy everyone wanted, he didnt play the way LB wanted, but he was a model pro the entire time he was here. I am happy he is going to somewhere where he will win a lot and I think at 3.5 million a year the Pacers have got themselves one very good point guard. I am slightly surprised he did not get a multi year deal, but I am sure DJ will have more success in his NBA career than he did with us and I hope him all the best with it.

Ballwhore, you are always welcome here and if you ever have any news about DJ or Pacer trades or rumors we would love to hear it :)

DJ played hard most nights and I feel that he just never fit into the situation he was in with our Bobcats, Larry Brown and all. I saw signs of a player who could be better than what we saw with him altogether.

I hope he has an above average career but sucks when we play against whatever team he is on at any given time. I hope our two current pg's kick ass above all else. None the less DJ was a class act and I for one will miss his presence on our team.
