So who is still out there on the market worth taking a look at:
Kris Humphries
Carl Landry
Anthony Randolph
Kenyon Martin
(bring back DJ white)
Who else is worth mentioning???
Go Bobcats, lets go 5-0 this summer! ;)

No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! A hundred fucking thousand times NO! We have a good locker loom that cares about each other and is buying into coach d's system right now. We've gone as far as we can this off season. No reason to overpay landry or bring in spoiled primadonna's like blatche or randolph.Let mullens, tyrus, and a re-signed dj white compete and see what we have and we'll make more calculated, reasonable moves next off season. We've done well the last month.Let's call it a day and let our young guys go play. And fuck it,bring back ups and that'll give us 15 players. We can have cory higgins play in the d-league or get the front office coffee this year! lol.

The only thing that would be appealing about Blatche is how cheap he would be. I don't think he's worth the small gamble it would take.

He's a restricted free agent with the Hawks, but I remember him being annoying as hell last year, and that's Ivan Johnson. Rugged 6'8/6'9 player who fights you for every rebound and plays with great effort. Kind of the anti-Tyrus, lol. I wouldn't mind seeing him here for the right amount of money.

I would go with Randolph, I know its a gamble but we could get him on a short (2 year contract) for say 3 mill a year. Perhaps being with the Charlotte Bobcats would be a good fit for him, out of the spotlight, a coach who will aim to develop him
tamburello
07-17-2012, 05:20 AM
Kenyon Martin would be another option. I believe he can still contribute more than TT. But we can't sign him for vet min, even sth like $3 million might not be enough because he's earned enough and he wants championship now.
One guy that can sign for vet. min is Yi Jianlian, but he's an underachiever and certainly not a starting caliber player. I wouldn't mind DJ White back, for the right price.
Today is the last day to amnesty a player this season, so expect a move from our front office if they really want a player like Carl Landry.
Plowright
07-17-2012, 05:26 AM
I really dont want DJ White back here, not because he is particuarly bad... but just because I want a new fresh roster, clear out all the scrubs from that awful team we had last year. I also dont want us to go anywhere near Blatch, even if he does come cheap. You can't polish a turd.
Randolph is my option
superb1
07-17-2012, 05:45 AM
At this I'll go with bringing back DJW. Let's give TT a fighting chance to see what he is capable of and let me earn his contract. We probably still need another year to suck and probably will. We will win about 20+ games, so we will improve. We don't need to tie up too much more money in guys the are not part of our future. we have picked up guys this summer already who will help us but not part of our core. After next season, we rid ourselves of Diop and Carroll (if not gone already by trade deadline) and if Tyrus has not worked out, we can amnesty him and use that cap space next summer. As far as Blathe, we have one head case project for Dunlap, we don't need another. But if we had to bring someone in Carl Landry and maybe Yi (for the same reason Tamb stated) would be my picks.
Plowright
07-17-2012, 05:53 AM
Add Jordan Hill to that list... I think what were going after is a vet presence, maybe thats why were not looking into DJW, Randolph? Maybe Cho has said, okay thats enough we dont want any more young guys on the roster
I have the answer to all our questions, lets bring back Domin.. wait who the fuck was that guy? Oh Yeah Dominic Mcguire!!!!

I don't think we need to add a power forward anymore. We already got Tyrus. And with Haywood on the team I won't be surprised if Bismack is going to play some minutes at the 4 position. So unless we amnesty Thomas, or make a (stupid) trade, I don't see any problem in giving White a one year contract to fill the garbage minutes.
westbrook08
07-17-2012, 09:22 AM
I would take white back or sign jordan hill. But if we sign any of the 4's left @ this point it needs to be on a one year deal so that we can keep all of our flexibility for next year.

WOW to Humphries' new contract. As for what's left on the scrap heap, I'm all for bringing in Jordan Hill, DJ White or someone on the cheap that we don't have to make a serious commitment to. If we would've gotten Jamison, Humphries, Scola, etc. it would've added too much commitment to a player that was older and would've probably added a few more W's that could've affected draft position. Plus, like many others, I would rather save the amnesty clause for Tyrus next summer. Diop is a bum, so let his rich, bum-ass ride the pine all year on a bad team, than sign as a random chip on a contender like Diaw and Morrison did.

Golden State is pretty high on Kenyon Martin right now, that might leave the door wide open for us to go in and grab Carl Landry.

As nice as Landry would be, for the price tag and having to use the amnesty clause on Diop makes me not want him. We aren't trying to tank this coming season, but I don't think we should be tying money up in a player that isn't our long-term goal at the 4 and pushing us out of the top-5 in the draft. Landry is oft-injured, undersized and outside of one huge season, he averages about 11ppg over his career. If there's a way that we don't have to amnesty Diop or Caroll, and the price tag/length of contract is reasonable, I'd take him. Unfortunately, he is the last "decent" FA out there at the 4 and I don't think we will get him on a cheap enough deal to make it worth it.

How do you figure he's a waste of a roster spot? He came in and rebounded and scored well in the low block in limited minutes. He even got a few starts last year and did pretty good. We're not trying to sign him as a long term starter, but as a 2nd or 3rd power forward i think he's great.Plus he's a young kid whom we've already invested time in who still seems to be working hard and improving. Why not keep him? What? No! He did none of that. He's a turnstile on defense, he needs a week to jump high so most rebounds evade him, he runs like he is smuggling a ship in a bottle in his bum, and all he does is look to shoot his little push shot jumper.

Honestly @ this point i'm not disappointed.I want them to sign cheap 4 on a one year deal so we can see what we have.Mullens looks like he's getting ready to break out and thomas has supposedly already put on 20 pounds of muscle this off season and is still working as we speak. If those 2 can actually step up we may be a vastly improved team this year. And i honestly think we need to give those guys some playing time and see if they really want it.If not,we always have the option of using the amnesty clause on tyrus(which i think becomes more likely next off season if he doesn't produce) and pursuing ibaka or another young 4 down the road.No one on the market that's left right now is worth us displacing our young talent.

I agree. The way we're currently constructed, we either get a pleasant surprise with Mullens and Thomas stepping up, and we're better than we expected, or, we struggle at power forward, get a better pick, and still have the amnesty for Thomas, and a lot of cap space with Diop, Carroll, and Thomas off the books.
Us being active in free agency is enough for me even though we struck out a lot.

I like the tone of this and it's a good way to think.
IMO Mully is going to improve a lot under Dunlap; he's already doing better at boarding and at overall D. He's hustling getting in the passing lanes and he's doing more "big guy" things inside.
Tyrus had the team's best PER year before last and as stated above there definitely seemed to be something wrong with him this past season. I don't think he's ever going to get strong BBIQ but he can be a very serviceable player.
Take a chance on an unproven backup 4. Might gain a free asset out of it.

Another guy who has intrigued me for a while, played for Dallas last season. A legit 7'0" who early on in the NBA was too light for PF or C, so played mostly SF. Often it's a question of how much TIME is a coach going to spend one on one with a young NOT YET developed player. On a team with a lot of established vets, he is more likely to spend most of his time with them, working to better the team's core to get deeper into the playoffs. On a team such as ours, a coach is looking to develop anyone and everyone willing to put in the extra work, and Dunlap is already showing signs of doing that.

I know dunlap is just a normal human being like the rest of us, but sometimes al it takes to make from a good player a great player is a small change. after what Jeremy Lin did last year or even someone Byron Mullens. They couldn't have done all that with just any coach. Lin benifitted from the up tempo offence d'antoni played, and the same thing goed for Mullens and the 'shoot every time you touch the ball' offence which Silas used. Dunlap is no superman, he's a Batman at most, but for some that's all what it takes to jump-start their carreer.
