We have done business with the Spurs before and it seems as if they are just looking to clear a roster spot. Maybe we give them a second rd pick like we did with Theo Ratliff? http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/sports/pitt-big-east/former-pitt-star-dejuan-blair-growing-up-as-an-nba-player-647932/

I'd definitely go for it, but I have to imagine they'd want more than a second

Do we have a trade exception? Maybe a 2nd will suffice for a straight salary dump

The article said he's lost 16 lbs and is trying to play SF.
The only exceptions are room & bi-annual, neither of which can be used in a trade.
I might part with Reggie (what do the Spurs want anyway?), but not much else. Blair still has no cartilage in his knees right?

I'd certainly like to pick him up. He'd offer a more physical type of play that currently not offered by Byron or Tyrus. I don't know what the Spurs want, though. Like Spectre, I'd most likely part with Reggie, but if they want cap room, we can't help them. Unless somehow that Livingston trade exception gained some extra time due to the lockout, which I don't think it did.

I did not realize he lost enough weight to play SF. I'll pass unless he can play PF.

Who in the blue hell told him he could play small forward? This is like Tyrus last season all over again, and Blair doesn't even have a semblance of a mid-range game. Nah, I'll pass.

He just guarded those players no way he moves to sf. Blair is only owed 1mill and we have about 1.3mil left in cap space. It can be done

I always thought of DeJuan Blair as a more athletic, more physical player than Glen Davis with the same body type that they have...am i wrong? I wouldn't mind DeJuan Blair. As long as we wouldn't have to give up that much...because I don't know if he is the future of this team

Scottley we had to renounce all the TEs to use our capspace.
I think we could absorb his salary, but SAS is gonna want something. Probably toss a 2nd but I'd think they'd want more than that.

He isn't on the same level as glen Davis, that's for sure. He hasn't got the height glen David has got or the skill. Blair has to accept what he is, a banger who has a great motor and rebounds the ball. He doesn't have the handle or skill set to play the 3 so that's just stupid. He has always been a big guy and I think that has helped his playing style, but then again it would be interesting to see what he could do all slimmed down.

Ah, OK. I was pretty sure the TEs were gone, but wasn't sure how. And with Blair working off a 2nd rounders contract, we might be able to sneak his salary under the thin line we have under the cap. He'd be anice guy to have...the more rebounding, the better, I say.

I don't think it means he's moving to small forward. Those things were in separate parts of the article and i honestly don't think they necessarily go together.I'm sure he's keeping his weight down to go easy on his knees since he's coming up on the last year of his deal.It also said that he was being used by the u.s. team at small forward to guard melo.I saw them play lebron at center the other night! lol. The u.s. team has all it the scoring it needs, so players are logically gonna get moved around for favorable match ups on defense. And it's also international competition, so i would take it with a huge grain of salt.I doubt duan blair would even be considered to play small forward in the nba for an 82 game schedule.
If we could get him for a 2nd(which we won't) i wouldn't mind him here. But with his knees, he may very well be out of the league by the time we are in the playoffs on a consistent basis.I would much rather see us find a young guy who has the proper size and can play on both sides of the ball long term.If he was willing to take a reasonable contract for a reserve role after his contract is up this year i would love to have him as a future back up though.

I think he's just less skilled than Davis and a worse player overall
still better than Tyrus obviously

Articals ive read on realgm say S A wants a first for him , Whitch i think is to much to give.
When we could pick up Blatche for one year and either hit a home run or rent a pile of crap . Either way its just one season tied up . With no draft pick investment. Ill take my chances on Blatche .

Agreeded but its no way i want to give up a freaking first . Blatche and TT at the very least would make it a interesting year. Both have way more talent than brains.............

He only has like one year left on his deal anyway right? Why give a first when you can just wait...

Talent wise I love Blatche but his stupidity reaches levels even Tyrus hasn't seen and I think a cancer such as him could be really be damaging to our young guys.
