View Full Version : Diop has 0 value outside of his expiring contract

Stop saying he is an asset. Every time I lurk this site, people are actually thinking that a team would trade for Diop to play him. He's possibly worth a vets minimum, but no team is going to take him for a contributing role at his current price. The only team in the NBA stupid enough to trade for the contract which the Mark Cuban Scholarship For Under-Skilled Big Men gave him was the Bobcats.
Bet: If Diop gets traded to a team that gives us any sort of return value so that they can play him 10-15 minutes per night/not for cap room, I will "thank" every single person who believed Diop has value for more than his expiring and put "Cho is my Co-Pilot" in my signature for the remainder of the season.
(It's not gonna happen. Get your heads out of the clouds and stop making threads about of it.)

We've had like 3 separate "Diop to the _______, they need a second center" threads plus a handful of proposals in the past couple of weeks. I dont want to have the same discussion about how misguided they are in all those threads. Let them come to me.

The only thing we could get in return for Diop would be a contract somebody wanted to dump but that we didn't think was too bad. This would require us to take on extra years of salary to get rid of Diop, which seems unlikely at this point. I suppose it was possible we could have used him to get someone decent, or perhaps a pick, to help facilitate a trade like what just happened with Howard but, now that that is over, there isn't anything on the horizon that will result in us ever getting anything of value for him.
I am also baffled by people who think a team would trade for a 7 million a year back up C when they can sign someone for the veteran minimum for the same production.

I'd say let the mods close/merge them with other threads, but that's just me.

They can do what they want. I don't post much on here anymore but this was something I wanted to be made known for all the friendly Internet GMs with ESPN Trade Machine and NBA.com Team Rosters opened in the other tabs.

Totally agreed. Just ride him on the bench til season end. If a deal comes up then fine. But to shop Diop actively is crazy.
sent from the pseudo GM offices of the Charlotte Bobcats.

If we see a diop deal it will be something along the lines of Richard Jefferson + pick for Diop and Carrol. probably be better to just pass though.

And since you're super important, a thread was necessary. Maybe this needs to be stickied, because it's such a valuable contribution.

Did I personally offend you and insult your honor? Pistols at dawn?
What is your problem dude? I dont know if you are trying to play "Cool Guy On A Bobcats Fan Forum" or if you want to pretend to be a mod with no authority, but you can take that somewhere else.

I agree. But G-State (or any team) would just be doing it to dump a bad salary or get cap space. Not to turn Diop into a rotation player.

We can send Diop plus cash to Phoenix for a 2020 2nd rounder.
