He seemed to have a few issues back in the day whenever he'd come home during the offseason...hopefully he'll have matured some. According to hoopshype we also worked out Dante Green last week, kind of insinuating we wouldn't be averse to adding another SF.
Don't know how I feel about that one as I really want our 2 rooks to get most of the burn there. I guess we could be planning on giving MKG time at PF like we did with Crash (where some of his best numbers came from). Both would be considered part of the strategy of finding assets out of nothing which we should be all about right now.

Talent is talent. He's not that good anymore but he's better than some other options out there.
Id rather have three NBA caliber SFs than a PG like Higgins or Jardine who doesn't belong

I'm guessing this means we might be doing the miami heat thing and playing 3 wing players with a big and a point guard. Why not play howard @ the 4? He's 32 and not that great. I don't mind risking him getting hurt. Let me just say that i absolutely in no way want mkg getting any minutes @ the 4. You don't fuck with the future of the franchise. Considering we already have 6 wing players i hope this means we are moving carroll or williams in a small deal to a team that needs a shooter or just buying carroll out. But i'm not holding my breath on that one!

Or maybe they aren't comfortable running into the season with two rookies manning the SF position, one of which being the youngest player in the league, and think adding a veteran presence is a good idea.
We have 5 guards who will be getting minutes at the 1/2--Kemba, Hendo, Sessions, Gordon, Reggie
5 bigs who will be getting minutes at the 4/5--Bismack, Mullens, Haywood, Tyrus, Diop
Adding another wing makes sense to me

I don't look at pointguards. I'm looking at wings (2's and 3's) and we have 6 in hendo, gordon, carroll, williams, mkg, and taylor. 4 of them can play minutes at the 3. I would also bet that either mkg or tayor can play every bit as good this year as howard. The whole point is to get our young guys experience. If signing howard in any way cuts into minutes for mkg or taylor i don't want him. If we are going with a small lineup and howard is gonna play some 4 because we think he's better than any of the other options then so be it.

I think Josh Howard grew up in NC. It's interesting we're going after free agents with N.C. ties.

I can see this, especially if Dunlap wants to up the tempo. He'll need bodies to do that and it wouldn't hurt to have a solid vet in with the young SF group. It could also open up trade opportunities in the SG/SF area as the season goes on.

Howard played well for Utah last season until he got injured. Tried to come back for the playoffs, but was not ready, and it showed.
I expect to see more of Taylor at SG, so Howard could spell MKG a bit.
How Dunlap uses Ben Gordon will be interesting; SG or PG...

That might not be our choice haha. They may be the only free agents who will even consider us

We already have 4 shooting guards in carroll, henderson, gordon, and williams. I certainly think taylor can play the 2 but i think he only gets minutes there this year if the coach wants to play he and mkg at the same time. Which i'm not opposed to. Williams is probably gonna have have to get his minutes as our 3rd sf to even get on the court. And hendo might even see time @ sf so gordon doesn't crush his minutes. I simply don't think we have the minutes too add another wing. Like i said, if we're doing the miami heat thing and playing one of them and the 4 and having a 3 wing lineup i can see it. Otherwise, we're just hurting the development of the team. And howard is too old to be a long term piece. So why mess with the future? If jordan wants to bite the bullet and buy out carroll or can trade williams to a team that needs a shooter for a reserve 4 then i'm all for howard. Otherwise no!

Yeah we shouldn't bring in old guys who have no future with the team and/or who could hurt their development
Oh wait, Brendan Haywood, Ramon Sessions, and Ben Gordon......
A veteran presence is necessary. You're living in a dream world if you think trotting out two rookies with no experience is a recipe for success. Young guys need a vet to go to when things get rough. Go look at the Thunder roster over the past 5 years.
Rookie Durant and Green had Wally, Wilkins, and Thomas
Rookie Westbrook had Watson and Atkins
Etc.
Having a vet doesn't hurt development. If anything it helps

I dont want success, I want next years number 1 pick :D haha. (Not being serious)

I mean success in terms of positive development and growth. A former all star is a pretty good person to talk to when you're struggling with certain scenarios or situations instead of being forced to do it on your own.
Kemba had nobody to turn to and struggled mightily. Don't you think a guy whos been around the block a few times could've helped give him little tips and had him play a little better or learn a little quicker?

I understand what you mean but I don't know if I want some guy who smokes weed all the time and tells everyone live on radio that loads of basketball players do. That kind of character is what were getting away from right now with Kemba, Biz, MKG, Jeff. Like a thousand people have said before, including Kemba... We are trying tog et high character guys here who are driven. Not sure if Howard quite fits that bill, I just dont want him inviting MKG for a spliff inbetween games. Even though I support MKG for standing his ground and saying no

Sure, i'm not saying OMGZ let's get Josh Howard!
I'm just saying I understand why they're targeting a vet wing presenceand that its a bit silly to condemn or dismiss the notion altogether

Diop said he would love to play with Howard. We all know that won't happen, but that doesn't mean Howard isn't going to play here.

I really belive we going to play a lot with three wings . Reading MKG is strong enough to stop most fours . I could see us playing a lot with Hendo , MKG , and JT , Those three could switch all most 2 through 4 without much problem . Sure hurts the screan and roll. A lot all so depends on TT s play.

I think we are just working out the last few free agents with even a smidge of talent... We have probably worked out others, it's just the news got hold of Josh Howard. If he agrees to a work out, why not?

We had to have sessions and haywood because we had no depth at point guard or center. We don't need a has been pothead with a shitty attitude around our locker room when we already have 6 wing players. I would take mkg or taylor with no experience over howard in his current form in a second. But i'll trust cho, so whatever. We potentially have 2 roster spots if we buy out caroll or trade williams and since gordon can play the 1 and 2 maybe we can get howard and still bring in a 4. That might be what they're thinking. Plus you know that caroll and diop will probably dress almost never this year.

We have two roster spot without making any moves. Still I pray we move Carroll and Diop for a Yoohoo, a honeybun and a bag of Skittles. Howard probably will sign for a dime bag.

i wouldn't be dissapointed if we signed him becasue we have inexperience at SF but MKG is the real deal and must be given alot of minutes to show his talent !

If he looks good in the workout, and Cho thinks it helps us, I'm for it. Whether I understand it right now or not, I'm sure it fits into Cho's master plan for the season.

Your right. I didn't even realize we had 2 spots open. I still think if we can get anything useful for our expiring guys then we should if the deal is in our favor. If we can still add a 4 then why not sign howard? Gordon can play some point guard so we basically have 3 there. And any 4 and howard will probably both be at the minimum. I say go for it.

I think Carroll rides the pine the full year letting his contract expire. Williams can be traded for a decent 4 http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8rhj4jr. Signing Howard would I think be a plus as he can tutor MKG and Taylor, more as Taylor because he has played the 2 and 3 but be there as a backup 3.

What has reggie Williams shown us this last yea that suggests he could be traded for a decent 4? His trade value is rock bottom right now apart from his contract being expiring

I think we will just sign some free agents for now. I think Diop and Carroll will be gone at trade deadline, Williams, traded too after he gets some burn to showcase himself.
