with the additions of Sessions, Gordon, Haywood, MKG and Taylor we have a much better roster this season than last campaign.
Satrters:
Walker
Henderson
MKG
Mullens
Biyombo
Bench:
Sessions
Gordon
Taylor
Thomas
Haywood
This is a significant imporvment from the roster last season, plus Kemba and Biyombo will have a full pre season to work with Dunlap to improve their games.
I think we should start with the Young players becasue they are the future of this franchise and if things don't go well we have a very strong bench to turn things round !
I'm not sure how many wins we will end up with this season but it will be alot better than last !

Yes the team is better... Could it really have got worse though?

We could have kept Paul Silas and continued with the youth movement.

We still are continuing the youth movement.

we are continuing with the youth movement but weve got better players coming off the bench this season, most Bobcats fans think this is the best bench weve ever had !

We still are continuing the youth movement.
Of course. The one omitted in your quote was the possible ingredient where we could conceivably have gotten worse.
Not to bash on Paul...but he and "youth movement" don't mesh so well.

Hendo is our best shooter and he needs to take more shots this season, who else agrees ?

Ben Gordon is a better shooter than Hendo even with his eyes closed and using a flat girls ball

Yeah Hendo is definitely not our best shooter, infact thats one of his qualities which he really needs to improve

MKG on the break or in the post should be our number one option

In terms of raw FG%, Bismack is our best shooter
In terms of raw TP%, Gordon is our best shooter
In terms of raw FT%, Gordon is our best shooter
In terms of True Shooting, Gordon is our best shooter
In terms of eFG, Gordon is our best shooter
In other words, Gordon is our best shooter

I don't think we should shoot the ball that much. It's the same strategy as we had last year: 'it's better to miss ten times than to hit once'.

Henderson is our best consistent shooter at the moment and he's getting better year by year. Henderson only averaged 13 shots per game last season which was pretty poor considering he was our last player !.

I still fail to see any quantifiable metric to backup the claim that he's our best shooter

He's become a really solid shooter coming off screens but I'm with Swedd that Gordo is easily the better shooter, and I'd put JT above him as well.
I love some Hendo but he is no where near the shooter that Gordon is.

Gordon plays no where near the defence or trys to do the extra things to win . I would take Hendo 10 times out of ten over Gordon . Hendo shot a very respectable 45% being dubbled most ever game . Doubt Gordon shoots a much higher % if at all.
Last year Hendo shot 45.9% Gordon 42.2 % with Gordon shooting the 3 ball much better.

dav the question isn't who is better or does more things to win.
Simply put, Gordon is a better shooter.
That's no knock on Hendo, more of praise on Gordon who, by all accounts, has shown to be one of the best shooters in the game when he's playing well. He had a down year last year and still shot better.
FG% - 44.2 vs 45.9
3P% - 42.9 vs 23.4
FT% - 86.0 vs 76.0
TS% - 54.9 vs 51.1
eFG%- 50.1 vs 46.7
better across the board except for pure FG%, which is due in large part to the increased volume of outside shots Gordon takes

I agree with you. I would also take Hendo 10 times out of 10 over Gordon but specifically, as far as a shooter goes, I don't think it is really close.

MKG is the best player on this roster.. i think Gerald Henderson in grossly overrated on this site. But, to each their own.

Gerald Henderson shot position breakdown for 2011-2012 Season
At Rim: 68.4%
3-9 feet: 30%
10-15 feet: 44.9% (Hendo's Sweetspot)
16-23 feet: 40%
3- point: 35.1%
Ben Gordon, who I believe to be the Cats best shooter
At Rim: 50%
3-9: 39%
10-15 34.4%
16-23: 45%
3-point:42.9%
As you can see hendo is the superior finisher at the rim and from his sweet spot (although Gordon has bettered Hendo from this spot over 3 previous seasons) And Gordon is better from deep, as everyone knew and from the long 2 area. I think the main thing is Hendo is not a better shooter he is a better finisher at the rim, theres a big difference.

Well I mean that plays directly into their respective strengths.
Gordon is a shooter, he's a small guard who was never really known for his athleticism, slashing, or leaping ability. Hendo, on the other hand, is an athletic guy who thrives going to the rim and/or curling off screens from mid extended. So you're naturally going to see Hendo's percentages go up as he gets closer to the rim and Gordon's do the same going away from it.
That also says a lot about Gordon's overall efficiency.

i know this convo was specifically about shooting but this gives me a chance to talk about hendo.
shooter maybe gordon , scorer hendo. alot of good or elite scorers shoot low percentages from 3pt or mid but they have multiple ways to score. because gordon is only a shooter , thats why he'll be a rotation guy cause he doesn't offer anything else. plus we all know i think hendo is a top five shooting guard anyway so im a little bias when anything comes to hendo i mean hendo shoots off-screen jumpers thats a lost art, he has a post game, and he's a slasher add that with great d, we got an all-star this year.
remember he avg 15 points with only 13 shots a game , imagine if he jacked like kobe or westbook.

Agree mate, Hendo is a great scorer and should take more shots next season because he shoots at 45% from the field. He has the ability to be an All Star in my opinion becasue he has a great defensive game
