I'll post this here in this section for a while because it will get many more eyeballs than it would over in the fantasy section.

This season I will be starting a seriously kick-ass fantasy basketball league. What makes this one different? It will be populated by the most diehard Bobcats fans from around the web.

We are filling it with people that won't abandon teams 10 games in.

In this league trash talking is mandatory. When your team beats the west hell out of somebody else's sorry squad it is your duty to let them know about it. When someone trades Russell Westbrook for Cory Higgins it is your responsibility to laugh at that dumbassed move.

If you think that this sounds like the league for you, then tell us why you will be able to kick everyone else's butt in the league and let us know what your team name would be.

Note: I'm a sucker for a hilarious team name

My team name has been Pippen Ain't Easy for every year I've played, but I may switch it up for something as potentially epic as this.

I'd like to nominate myself. I played in the BCP League last year and dominated it in rebounds and technical fouls. I run a fantasy football league for my friends, so I know about the dedication a good league and team require. I love talking trash on the ESPN smack board even though no one ever checks it and I always vote my team to win. Truthfully, I'm a mediocre fantasy player because I play with my heart and not my head, but I swear that's all gonna change soon. I write down rules before the draft (no white dudes) and immediately end up breaking them (Kevin Love with my first pick). I talk about my team like it's the real thing, wondering if I need to rest my starters, if our home court advantage will be enough to pull us through, and whose Ipod we're gonna be listening to in the weight room (last year it was usually Rondo's). Anyways, this league sounds awesome and I can definitely go all in for it, so it'd be great to be a part of it.

Also, I work in a library, so I typically aim for a literary theme with my team name: Kobe Dick, Slaughterhouse 5, or 50 Shades of Rudy Gay.

PS - technical fouls should be a positive category, not a negative one.

If given the opportunity, I'd love to play. Diehard Bobcat fandom can't be questioned...I still own my Mek, Felton and Crash jersey (yes, it says Crash on the back). In no way is that depressing nor does it concern me about my own spending habits after a few beers.

As a Bobcat fan, I know a lot about not abandoning a team after 10 games or 20 games or the first pre-season game. I'm in it to the end, even if it means I have to watch Corey Higgins get PT or the Hornets get the first draft pick.

Personal humor level boarders more on sarcasm (a la South Park) than in your face trash talking, which could be used as a welcome change of pace.

I haven't played fantasy hoops in a few yrs mainly due to the lack of a solid league. I've been in the same fantasy football league for 15yrs so my allegiance to a solid league is demonstrated.

it is the basketball version of the popular book. the central character Jirchard Refferson (not based on any real person) has hot steamy love affairs in the locker rooms of the nba.

I am extraordinary. Asides from slaying beasts of the wild and moderating the dangerous planet of Bobcats, I also somehow have time to eat biscuits and read the newspaper and be back in time for supper.

Also, last season I was one of like 3-4 Bobcats fans that actually still hung out in BCP game chat and watched. Oh, and have I mentioned constantly waking up at 6-7 am in the morning to watch Bobcats games for 2+ years now?

In fact, I would go as far as guaranteeing that I'm the tallest person on this whole entire message board. That's right, I'm taller than all nineteen of you girly men. As a tall person with limited athletic ability, I have to deal with daily barrages of questions about my height, and if I play basketball. When I was in high school, it was fine, because I did. When you're 6'8'', playing in bumfuck Tennessee, you can be a solid player based on size alone. Of course in college, my lack of skill caught up to me, and I called it a career. Now I'm 27, and while I'm no longer the superstar I was in my heyday, and the questions persist. "How tall are you? Damn, do you play ball? If I was you're height I would have been a pro!"

Likewise. Actually I'm just too competitive and also a sore loser...a terrible combination, so I now know better than to join any fantasy leagues. As am example, I won the inaugural (I believe) BCP Fantasy championship, but the following year, I had scrubs and original rookie year Blake Griffin who never played a game, so I was quits a week into the season.

Wherever you move this page, mods/ziggy, make sure those of us not taking part can read the shit-slinging and other sordid goings-on that is promised to take place.

What is everyone's opinion? A slow draft going over the next 3 weeks via this forum and/or email, or an autodraft?

i'm not a big fan of so many negative categories, many times they just seem so random (also how do they deal with retroactive decisions - flagrants being upgraded or downgraded, what about if someone doesn't get ejected but they do get suspended after the game?). i hate the star treatment of the way those categories get handed out, too. it just seems like if you have the first 2 picks (lebron, kd), it's such an advantage when you include flagrant fouls and technicals and such, which they never get whistled for. seems like flagrants and ejections will lead to a lot of ties regardless, or 1 point random losses (in head to head, if we are doing that other style, rotisserie, it might be different).

wish they had a flops category.

are we using ESPN?

slow draft seems fun (the possibilities for making fun of stupid decisions is ripe), but it might be weirdly complicated. i'm free basically any evening, sunday - thursday to draft, just give me a heads up and i will be there.

my 2 cents, but you won't hear me complaining if we go ahead with those categories.

Give each person a set time to pick a player, something like 8 hours during peak time, and if they don't pick, skip them and let the next guy(s) go--allowing the skipped person to pick whenever they're ready.

I would prefer a live draft as wel, but I think if done by slow draft, we should have a thread on BCP (and possibly RGM for those members) where a comprehensive list of players taken can be found. Opinions?

my two cents...

1) would prefer live draft. as someone who has conducted many slow drafts on RGM, they can easily drag on for 3+ weeks, even when you have active participants. 15 rounds x 12 members is 180 picks to be made. to finish in 3 weeks we would have to average 8 picks a day. all it takes is one or two people who are busy during they day, cant access during work, on vacation for a weekend, in australia and sleeping during our day etc... and you have 8 hours between picks. the first few rounds generally go quickly, then things start to crawl. however, i'm game regardless.

2) no need to make a thread at rgm. sachmo has an account here and so do i.

3) would prefer the standard roto categories: points, assists, rebounds, steals, blocks, turnovers, 3s made, ft% and fg%. would also prefer prefer more starting spots, less bench spots, something like: pg, sg, g, sf, pf, f, c, c util util or even the standard yahoo format: pg pg sg sg g sf sf pf pf f c c util util.

i hope this feedback helps. i cant wait for the season to start. this should be fun.

yep, we'll have an up to date list.

Live drafts are fun, but getting people together in different time zones is tough.

If you guys think a live draft is workable, I'm willing to go with that if people are available. What is everyone's availability for a draft?

For me evenings and weekends are best if we do draft live.

Generally this works for me too. Lead time is helpful. I think a live draft makes more sense than the winding. I fear that people might be traveling or caught up with something and end up skipped.

Its a yahoo league using the categories in the link below. It seems like a lot of categories, but I used this format in a league that I was in last year and it was really fun.
