Bernie Bickerstaff originally said that he was going to coach the Bobcats for 2 to 3 years, then move up to the front office to be a full time GM. With that being said, I\'d be interested in hearing your opinions on potential coaching candidates.
The name at the top of the list thats been getting the most hype is Tubby Smith from the University of Kentucky. In my opinion we don\'t need a college coach running this team. The list of college coaches ( Pitini, Tarkanian, Calipari ) that tried coaching in the NBA and failed is a mile long.
You have Paul Silas, In my opinion that wouldn\'t be such a bad move. He works well with big men, and this team could definitely use that skill, What makes this move unlikely is that Bob Johnson & co. have been avoiding the stench of the Hornets like the plague.
And then you have a real wildcard, a move of pure nepotism that would ruin the franchise for the next 10 years. Thats right, Junior Bickerstaff. If that move were to happen I think that the majority of Bobcats fans would bail on the team. But depending on how much pull that Bernie has, I wouldn\'t put it past him.
I\'d be interested to hear your opinions and other options.

Good Lord!!! J.B. Bickerstaff as the head coach? That would be a screw up of absolutely legendary proportions

I\'d like to see Larry Brown in the Queen City. He\'s got a crap team with the knicks, if he had the talent of the cats it would be amazing.

I\'ve got two words for you, Detroit Pistons. Look at the team he built there, and tell me this guy can\'t coach. Did you see what he inherited in NYC, it\'s a mess.

I\'ll admit he CAN coach. He has the hardware at the NCAA and NBA level to prove it. But, at this stage of his career, hes too old, too senile, too set in his ways, and just too all around flaky for a young team like this. By the time the team got to be playoff competitive, it\'d be time for him to retire.

Paul Silas is getting some interest from the Golden St. Warriors in the article here . So he may be out of the mix as far as a Bickerstaff replacement.

Clark, I guess we\'ll see tonight what kind of job your beloved Larry Brown does matched up against gthe Bobcats. My guess is he and his high priced roster leaves the game with a loss

Larry Brown still has the game my friend, he still has the game. The problem with the leauge is there isn\'t enough coaches like Brown, and Riley to go out of their way to be hardcore fundemental type coaches. Most coaches now look like they are personal assitaints for the players, like their own little *****, you get the idea.

Larry Brown has more talent than the Bobcats, yet their record is just as bad as ours. Larry Brown\'s best coaching days are behind him.

Let me throw one more curveball in the mix. What about former Laker player and former Denver Nugger short time coach Michael Cooper? I always thought that he got a raw deal out there in Denver. I would anticipate that he would implement a defensive minded system that would really benefit the Bobcats talent ( when healthy ). Opinions?

How about Tubby Smith from UK? A lot of the UK fans want him gone, he seems to be a good coach?

I\'ll throw one more coach on the list. How about the Phoenix Suns assistant Marc Iavaroni. Felton, Wallace and B.Rob could benefit greatly with a coach thats familiar with an uptempo offense like Phoenix\'. The faster the game is moving, the better they seem to perform.

Rick Bonnell ( The head of the Bernie bickerstaff fan club ) says that Bernie should coach one more season.

I disagree because with a decent coach and another top draft pick, I honestly believe that we could fight for the 8th playoff spot next season, but it appears that bobcats management doesn\'t think so.

I\'ve been hyping him for a while, but is there any love out there for Mark Iavaroni as next coach of the Charlotte Bobcats? Having a coach that could install a Phoenix Suns style offense would be a perfect fit for our personnel.
I like Paul Silas, myself. I think he\'d have a great working relationship with the Bobcats management, which would translate into success on the court.
The Hornets management sucks, and I don\'t know what went wrong in Cleveland, but I think the city of Charlotte still views Silas favorably, and I think he\'s a pretty good coach.

When Paul Silas was in Charlotte he did quality work with the Hornets big men, some of the gripes that people had against him though is that supposedly hes not a stron Xs and Os coach, and that he would randomly put players in the dog house and hold crazy long grudges.
One thing is sure though, wherever he coached the team won and the players played hard. I wouldn\'t have a problem with him being the coach of the Bobcats.

How about Rick Adelman? hes a quality coach who just got the axe in Sac-Town.
There is a reason he just got axed.
I wouldn\'t go near him. His defence sucks.

Noooooooooooooooooooo!!! Adelman is way too soft on the defensive end. Bickerstaff would never make that hire. Lets do the Bobcats a favor and keep Rick Adleman unemployed.:P

Looks like we\'ll have one more year of Bernie on the sidelines. Hopefully he\'ll handle this year\'s rookie better than he handled Felton, who he had shackled to the bbench for the first third of the season.
