The Charlotte Bobcats are looking into picking up rookie Raymond Felton\'s third-year option, a move that would cost them about $3.3 million in the 2007-08 season.

Coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff told the Observer the team couldn\'t exercise that option before the end of this season. The team made a similar move for Emeka Okafor last spring, following a rookie-of-the-year season.

Though Felton probably can\'t beat out Chris Paul for rookie of the year, he won Eastern Conference rookie of the month for February and March.

NBA teams don\'t always pick up these options at their first chance. The Cleveland Cavaliers did with LeBron James, but the Orlando Magic waited until last month to do so with former top pick Dwight Howard.

\"No question, this makes me feel good,\" Felton told the Observer.

\"I feel I\'ve worked for it. You don\'t always get the hype right away but that\'s not always a bad thing: It makes you stronger, makes you better.\"

Felton said he feels a strong loyalty to the Bobcats: \"This is a trusting organization. We have to look at getting some things worked out, but we\'re all close here.\"

Thats an excellent move to go ahead and lock him up for one more year. It shows that the organization was impressed with his work ethic and the way he handled himself on and off the court... You\'ll notice that theres no talk of picking up Sean May\'s early.

So does this mean he will be signed threw 08? I hope he gets a bigger contract than that he deserves it. And Sean May has to have a great season next year because I like his style he just has to stay on the court.
