Lets say the draft goes like this:
The Raptors draft Bargnani at #1 like all of the rumors are saying, Then at #2 the Bulls select Tyrus Thomas instead of Lamarcus Aldridge. Supposedly Paxson is a big Thomas fan, so its possible that it could happen.
At Center that would give us LMA / Brezec / Voskul with Okafor/Ely being able to fill in for a few minutes here and there. IMO Brezec would be expendable, do you think there is a team out there dumb/desperate enough to throw a first rounder our way for Primoz?

I get where you are coming from Clark: If we are lucky enough to draft LMA, there wil be an odd man out within our big man rotation.

I\'m just not so sure that big man would be Primoz. He\'s a genuine 7 footer who can spread the floor with his ability to hit the 18ft J, he\'s young and he\'s cheap. Sure he has some short comings (nastiness, shot blocking, boxing out) but if we had EO50 and LMA, that would be their job.

I can\'t see LMA challenging Primoz for the starting 5 spot until after christmas any way.

But let\'s say we do look to trade Primoz. I would think that a team like the Suns would be a perfect location. Primoz can run the court, the Suns need some more bigs and as I said, he can drain that J out to 18ft which the Suns really like.

Would they give up their #21 pick for him? Maybe. Then I would hope that Sene was available and we could draft him for the 2nd unit.

If that was the case though, I think it would be SUPER important to turn Ely, Knight or both into a SG - prospect or otherwise.

Ely for JR would be ideal.

Felton - Knight - FA 3rd string pg
JR Smith - Carroll - Anderson
Crash - Jones - BRJ
EO50 - McMay - FA Big
LMA - Sene - Jake

Nicccccccccccceeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

If the Suns went for that deal, I\'d be willing to chip in a few dollars for his Greyhound ticket out of town.
With their pick at 27, I would hope that Maurice Ager slipped down to that spot. Hes been ripping up the other shooting guards in pre draft workouts.

I can\'t see anybody out there giving us a 1st round pick for Primoz. Hes a 7 foot jumpshooter that is statistically one of the worst defenders, rebounders and shot blockers currently starting at center in the league. Why would another team sacrifice a first rounder to get him???

Team Primoz with a defensive minded C so he can play PF and you\'d have a nice tandem who could spread the floor.

Eg:
Primoz and Chandler
Primoz and Amare
Primoz and Dalembert
Primoz and Diop

Primoz isn\'t a defensive specilast - he does his job on the offensive end so of course he\'s not going to rate as a shot blcker. It\'s like saying Knight is shit because he doesn\'t drain the 3 ball - but that\'s not his job so you don\'t expect him to do it.

Don\'t forget that Primoz was without his defensive buddy here for most of the season. With EO50 back in the line next season it will allow Primoz to do what he does best - knock down J\'s and fill the lane.

Also don\'t forget the two most important things:

1. Young
2. Cheap

In a time where quality C\'s a rare as hens teeth, these two factors would rate him highly on a lost of GM\'s lists.

Thats a sad but true statement on the status of the center position in today\'s NBA, Hopefully the class of 2007, with Greg Oden and several other 7 footers can bring some prestige back to the position, I miss the days of Olajuwon / Ewing / Robinson, back when you had centers that you actually had to gameplan for.

But back on topic, I think that you probably could get a first rounder for him, probably somewhere in the 22 to 30 range. Another GM would be willing to take that kind of risk for him, because in those positions most of the draftees wind up on the bench for the first few seasons anyway.

If we were able to get a giant sized bag of corn chips for Primoz, we should consider ourselves real lucky.

Bucket, I think you\'d be surprised at what GMs would give up for a 7 footer that can walk and chew gum at the same time.... I only wish that the Bobcats had made some deals with Isiah Thomas and the Knicks before the Chicago Bulls took them to the cleaners.
