I\'m not a fan of how he ran the team when he was with the Wizards (Kwame Brown, trading away Rip Hamilton) but he will give the Bobcats some badly needed media attention. Right now the Bobcats are the NBA\'s red headed stepchild when it comes to media attention.

ESPN reports that his official title is Managing Member of Basketball Operations and that he has the 2nd largest financial share of the team

He blew it with Kwame, theres no doubt about that, but therewere also some quality moves like picking up Gilbert Arenas in the 2nd round of the draft.

In the first 2 years of the Bobcats organization, Bernie Bickerstaff hasn\'t had to answer to anybody but Bob John$on, I wonder how hes going to react to answering to MJ?

djack, welcome to the board!
To answer your question, if Bernie gets his panties in a bunch over having to report to MJ, then hes just going to have to suck it up and deal with it.
Below is a snippet from this Charlotte Observer article
Q: How is the decision-making from a player personnel standpoint to be divided between the General Manager and owner/supervisor of player personnel?
A: It\'s real simple. Michael is an owner. Bernie is the General Manager and Head Coach. General Managers and coaches report to owners. Michael has the decision-making authority.

Now that its been reported that Jordan will have final say on ALL basketball player, coach and GM decisions, What players that are currently on the roster do you think stand to benefit or lose out because of MJs presence? (Felton and May are the obvious choices) Also, which player in this year\'s draft most seems like the type of guy that MJ would want to add to the Bobcats roster?
Crash will benefit the most. He has always looked up to MJ and has quoted him often. If Crash can learn some offense from Jordan..........watch out world!!
I think Jordan will love Roy.
Roy is a competitor, smart and does a bit of everything.
I could see Gay or Roy benefitting the most out of some MJ one-on-one.
But it all depends on how \"hands on\" MJ is. By the sounds of things, he will be heard but not seen.

It sounds weird, but I could see Jordan being impressed by Morrison, with his high intensity.
I also think that Sean May should benefit from Jordan\'s presence. With Mr. TarHeel around, I doubt if May will be allowed to balloon up to 785 pounds again.
The person who is truly S.O.L. is Brevin Knight, With Jordan calling the shots this is Raymond felton\'s team now. No more of that Felton/BK backcourt nonsense.

B.K. is history now, even though he is one of Bernie\'s favorites. MJ won\'t want him around cutting into fellow Tarheel Raymond Felton\'s minutes.

I think Jordan is going to want us to lean towards getting Morrison even though I want Rudy Gay.
Next years FA Market is loaded. The biggest names are the rookies from 2003. Most of them will probably just sign an extension with their team but I\'d say that one of them will probably switch up teams. Besides them there are still some really solid big name players that we could bring in.

There seem to be a few names missing like Jamison and Carter both of whom are FA\'s. Also some of the guys who are unrestricted on that list have a player option this year and might exercise it instead of waiting.
With Jordan I think its a possibility of us getting Lebron, Wade or Melo I would be happy with any of those players.

I think we can make an attempt to land LeBron next year, too.
Imagine that, Real Jordan and Successor of Jordan at the same franchise. David Stern would love it.

I think Felton is going to see a lot of minutes next year I\'m not that high on May he needs to lose a lot of weight.

Sean May hasn\'t really EARNED it up to this point, but I think that MJ is going to be faithful to his Tarheel boys and May is going to get more than his fair share of opportunities.

The more I think about Jordan running the basketball operations, the more uncomfortable I get: Heres a history of his basketball decisions with the Wizards:
Jan. 19, 2000: Becomes president of basketball operations.
June 14, 2000: Names Miami (Fla.) basketball coach Leonard Hamilton, with no pro coaching experience, as Wizards coach.
June 28, 2000: Takes Mike Smith 35th overall in draft.
Aug. 22, 2000: Trades Isaac Austin to Vancouver for Dennis Scott, Obinna Ekezie, Felipe Lopez, Cherokee Parks.
Sept. 25, 2000: Trades Tracy Murray to Denver for Popeye Jones and 2002 second-round pick.
Feb. 22, 2001: Trades Juwan Howard, Calvin Booth to Dallas for Loy Vaught, Christian Laettner, Hubert Davis, Etan Thomas, Courtney Alexander.
March 1, 2001: Releases Rod Strickland.
April 19, 2001: Fires Hamilton, after 19-63 season.
April 20, 2001: Names Doug Collins as coach.
June 27, 2001: Takes high school senior Kwame Brown with No. 1 overall draft pick; after two seasons, Brown averaging 6.2 points, 4.6 rebounds.
June 30, 2001: Exercises buyout option on Mitch Richmond.
July 18, 2001: Signs free agent Tyronn Lue.
Aug. 1, 2001: Trades Laron Profit and conditional first-round draft pick for Brendan Haywood.
Sept. 25, 2001: Signs two-year playing contract with Wizards.
June 26, 2002: Takes Indiana sophomore Jared Jeffries with 11th pick, Maryland senior guard Juan Dixon with 17th pick of first round.
July 18, 2002: Signs free agent Larry Hughes.
Sept. 10, 2002: Signs free agent Bryon Russell.
Sept. 11, 2002: Trades Davis, Richard Hamilton, Bobby Simmons to Detroit for Jerry Stackhouse, Brian Cardinal, Ratko Varda.
Oct. 12, 2002: Signs free agent Charles Oakley.

I get the feeling that Lebron is going to wind up staying in Cleveland, but the player that I think we have a really good shot at is Carmelo Anthony. With the Nuggets, he has an overbearing coach in George Karl who tends to wear out player\'s nerves pretty quickly. Hes on a team without a lot of cap flexibility because its saddled with a huge contract for a 250 pound, injury prone sack of monkey shit ( Kenyon Martin ) and then he also has a teamate with a weird testicle fondling fetish ( Reggie Evans ).
If I was \'Melo, I\'d get away from he Nuggets as quickly as I could.

Melo would also fit in Bobcats, i agree. He is a profilic scorer and he can shoot buzzer beaters. These both are the features we are lacking.

Not to mention the publicity with Melo on the east going up against Lebron again.

The MJ effect actually brought a minute or two of nice media attention to the Bobcats during the 2nd quarter of tonight\'s NBA Finals. Hubie Brown talked a little bit about Michael Jordan becoming part owner of the Bobcats franchise. He also talked about how he felt that Bickerstaff had done a good job building the franchise.

MJ says that hes not going to be a part of a dog and pony show, and that he plans to get Bob Johnson to spend more money.
