I\'ve been a long time follower of the North Carolina Tar Heels and after last years draft I became a Charlotte Bobcats fan. (The addition of Ray and May made it an easy decision) I\'ll admit that I quit watching NBA after MJ retired and am sort of out of the loop when it comes to NBA knowledge, but to stay on topic I became an NBA fan again last year with the Bobcats being \"my new team.\"
But the main point of this thread is to give you my feelings on Sean May. After reading through the boards it seems like everybody loves to Sean May bash.
First thing first...Sean May isn\'t fat. He\'s big-boned!!!
But seriously, he\'s not as overweight as you all make him out to be. I remember reading a post the other night about how May would suffer in a run \'n gun style of offense like Phoenix, but i\'d like to remind you that UNC ran the definition of the run \'n gun style offense may\'s junior year. He was praised by ole Roy for being able to get up and down the floor with the likes of felton, mccants, manuel, m. williams, and j. manuel. He was never loafing down the floor and more times than not he would be right in the front with those guys getting the down the court pass for a slam dunk. And once again, I know its not college ball anymore in the NBA, but to say that he can\'t run at all is a mistake. He didn\'t get Syracuse Regional Tournament MVP, Final 4 MVP, and Championship MVP for being a big tub of lard that couldn\'t walk up and down the floor without taking a nap and resting.
May was also a standout at the summer camps last year before the season started and he was getting regular playing time on a daily basis. Once again, I know it wasn\'t against NBA talent...but he still did better than Felton did.
I, for one, was glad when the Bobcats chose May last year with their second pick--mainly because it put my two favorite heels on the same team, but also I feel as if Sean May will prove to be a big asset to the team in the future. Maybe not the starting PF that puts up 20 points per night...but maybe those badly needed rebounds needed during clutch time. (ie. just like mourning did last night in game 6 of the playoffs)
One last thing I\'ll mention before I get flamed for being a sean may \"advocate\". Remember every single time he went up against \"The Landlord\" (Shelden Williams?) He dominated him. Especially the 26 pts 24 reb. night @ duke. He was amazing that game--and I feel as if that might translate to the NBA within a couple of years.
Give him time people...give him time. I\'d take my boy, Sean May over Gerald Green anyday. (And I have nothing against Gerald Green what-so-ever, either!)
You can start bashing me...............
