Recently, one of the writers that follows the Sacramento Kings called Ron Artest the most unique player in NBA history. In my opinion Artest is just an idiot, there isn\'t anything particularly unique about him from a basketball standpoint.

I think the most unique player in the history of the game was Charles Barkley. I don\'t think the NBA will ever see another player like him, 6\'4\" who can handle the ball, grab 12 boards a game and dominate offensively in the paint. Larry Johnson was close for about 2 years before his back problems, but I don\'t foresee anybody doing what Barkley did at that size again for a looooooong time.

Who do you think is the most unique player ever.

I say Dennis Rodman. He was just 6\'8 and 220 pounds, but he was so insane that he didn\'t realize that he shouldn\'t be able to pull down 16 boards a game and guard anybody on the court. He was a lunatic, thats for sure, but there was nobody else that could do what he did on the court.

Easy.

Hands down, Magic Johnson.

The 1st, and thus far only, player who could play all 5 positions and play them well and effectivley.

Magic is my favorite player of all time, and in my opinion one of the top 2 basketball players to ever lace it up.
BUT, as much as I didn\'t want to initially believe it, Theres a Magic Johnson clone playing in the NBA right now. His name is Lebron James.

Ya think that there will be another 5\'3\" player in the NBA anytime soon? I seriously doubt it.

I\'d take Magic over LBJ 10 out of 10 times.

LBJ couldn\'t play the 5 like Magic. That post game and baby hook he had was so sweet and there was nothing better than \"Showtime\" in transition back in the day.

I\'d like to throw Iverson in the mix. Hes 160 pounds soaking wet and dominates the game.

If it boiled down to it, and it was game 7 of the NBA finals and they asked him to lineup at the 5 and take on Tim Duncan, I think that he could do it. he just hasn\'t been put in that situation up to this point in his career. Can you imagine what kind of damage he could do if he had a James Worthy to run with, or even a Byron Scott or aging Kareem? In Cleveland he has Larry Hughes and a bunch of NBDL players.

Hes a Hall of Famer, But he isn\'t on Magic or Barkley\'s level.
I\'ll change my vote from Rodman and say Shaq is the most unique athlete ever. No not the old Shaq that we have now, but the 1998-2002 version that was the baddest 340 pound athlete that the planet has ever seen. They don\'t build humans like him anymore.

I love mugsy more than anyone here... but to say hes the most unique is wrong. hes short sure... but so was spud webb and webb was just as good if not better than mugs. also earl boykins is playing now and hes just as short as both those guys. so cool yes.. unique ehhhh?

id cast my vote for barkley or magic. with serious consideration on dirk. several 7 footers can shoot treys ... two australians over 7 foot could do it at my school 3 years ago... but rarely can a guy 7 foot, shoot the outside shot that well, move like a small forward, and bang with the big boys sufficiently. and if getting pumped up to david hasselhoff doesnt make you unique... i dont know what unique is

That whole Nowitzki / Hasselhoff thing during the finals was really disturbing. Dirk should just fess up to everybody and change his last name to Hasselhoff :P
