He really seems like the forgotten man on the Bobcats. Lets say hes completely healthy going into the season. What are your expectations from #50 this year?
I think his numbers will look like this
16.5ppg, 10.8rpg, 2.0bpg (Crash getting 2 blocks a game, should shame Emeka into getting at least that) and 73 games played. At some point, I\'m guessing that he\'ll miss a week or 2 after rolling that ankle.

What do you think?

Well, I\'d have say that he\'ll get 15 ppg, 11 rpg, and 2 bpg

if i had to put numbers on it... id say hes gonna average around 17 a game, 10 boards and 1.5 blocks....

but really i just know hes gonna be solid. from head to slightly above his ankles he is a very very solid person and player. you can pretty much expect the same from OAK every game as long as his healthy.

If he comes back healthy I see him getting around 15-18 PPG, maybe 5 blocks and 10 boards.

Same as my expectations.

Emeka, please shoot better from the floor.

Thats the biggest thing for me. Therese no excuse at all for a power forward to shoot 40% from the floor like he did last season. He needs to shoot 49% at least, but I\'m willing to take 47%. If he can shoot 47, then he should easily have 18ppg 10 boards and 2 blocks.

Unfortunately for Emeka it may take him the good part of the summer to get his timing back. This is time that he could spend working on his offensive post game if he were completely healthy.
I see Mek having a slightly down year, partly because Sean May will start to cut into his minutes.

Okafor
13.9ppg 9.3rpg 1.5bpg 44%

If May will replace him well, those stats are also okay.

I would like to see Emeka play the 5 along side of May . I Think his numbers would be up across the board. Hes by far a better defender than Premo.
At 5, id say 16ppg 12.2rpg 2.8 bpg and 2 steals and 49 percent from the floor.
At 4. 14.2ppg 9.8 rpg and 43 percent from the floor.
Playing a 5 he could be a stoper and a beast on the glass. He could score 10ppg in just put backs.

dav7z,
I\'d love to see Emeka get 12.2 boards and shoot 49% from the field, But I think both numbers are a reach (especially the FG%). It may take him a couple of months into the season to work his way back to the level that he was playing in his rookie year.

I agree with you about the timeing. Its going to take a while to get it back.
But do you think his numbers would go up across the board playing the 5 just playing great defence and getting on the boards.

If he played the 5 with May at the 4, I could see Emeka\'s boards going down because May would steal some of the rebounds, but his offense improving because defensively other teams would have to focus on a second post scorer. With that lineup they could both grab 10 boards apiece pretty easily, which would be good news for the Bobcats.
If Emeka plays 4 with Primoz as the starting 5 then I see Emeka still struggling offensively but putting up solid rebounding numbers.

The more that I think about Emeka starting at the 5, the more I like it.

Wouldn\'t May + Okafor at 4,5 give up too much size? It\'s not like Ammo brings a badass 6\'\'11\' at 3.

But Okafor: Say he gets a healthy campaign, then I see him starting out as a mess, lots of ups and downs, but around christmas he\'ll start to kick in with 17 ppg, 11 reb, 1.2 stl, 2 blk.

Grunt,

Welcome to the board :) :) :)

May at the 4 and Emeka at the 5 would give up some height, but I think that they would make up for it in bulk. If they both started, I could see them both getting 10+ boards a game.

I agree with you that Emeka will start off slow this season and that he\'ll probably look bad the first 15 - 20 games of the season, but after that I think that he\'ll pick it up and play at least to the level that he did his rookie year.
My one single solitary request for him this season is to get his FG% up, theres no excuse for a big man to shoot 41% from the field, No excuse at all.

Welcome to the board

- Thanks

Anyone seen Okafor training this summer? Heard anything about his progress?

Will Ammo\'s offense benefit Okafor by giving him free baskets from Ammo\'s drives or more space to opperate in the post because of Ammo\'s shooting, or will Okafor just get less touches, declining production etc.?

If Okafor gets fewer touches will he get gloomy or just work harder on D?

Emeka went to Hakeem\'s big man camp a few weeks ago and was able to perform there which was a good sign, but he was not able to play in UConn\'s charity game 2 weeks back which is troubling to me. I know they\'re bringing him back slowly and being careful, but I would have thought that he could have played in that.

I think Adam is going to help Okafor\'s game. he is going to draw defenders further out on the perimeter so that\'ll mean less double teams down low.

For Emeka this year, I expect 15.5 pts, 11 boards and 1.8BPG.

Emeka\'s rookie year he was the focus of the offense and the target of double teams, last season at the beginning it looked like his mind was messed up trying to incorporate Hakeem\'s moves and footwork into his game. By the time he started to get a feel for things on the offensive end, he got hurt... then hurt again.
THIS season, with strong offensive perimeter players like Felton and Morrison, Emekas going to see lots of single coverage down low. I believe this is going to be a breakout year for him... If he can stay healthy.
