How can the Knicks make an offer to Jared Jeffries when they\'re already about 593 zillion dollars over the cap? How are they able to do that?
Funny, I was just talking about that very thing with some buddies over a beer on the weekend.
We assume that because the Knicks are the Knicks they probably have very deep pockets and wouldn\'t give a 2nd thought about exceeding the cap and attracting the luxury tax.
It sort of makes a mockery of the cap though when the rich teams can just continue to add players even though the value of their roster is greater than the nation budget of some small 3rd world countries!!

Maybe it was a midlevel exception signing. I could be wrong, but I think you get to do one of those regardless of your cap situation.

Knicks have 133 mil payout this year. Houston is makeing 20 mil .The whole BOBCATS Team Has 26 mil pay out this season so far.No way shuld you be able to sign any one when you over the cap by 50 mil or more. The only thing you shuld be able to do is give contracts to your draft picks.
