Set your Tivo, DVR or VCR for those of you still in the stone age :P Slovenia will be playing the USA tuesday August 22nd at 6:30 AM Eastern on ESPN2.
I read somewhere, ( I\'m too lazy to look for the link now ) that Primoz hasn\'t looked in the best condition in the World Championships. Has anyone one else heard the same?

I have. I read in one article that he\'s just tired. He said that he needs a break.

Hopefully he just needs some rest, If thats the case, then its not such a bad thing. But if hes out of shape, then thats not a good sign of what we can expect from him this season.

In 2nd day of Champs, Slovenia lost Italy 80-76, Primoz started and scored 8 points(4-5 fg) in 9 minutes. But I didn\'t understand why he didn\'t play more. He could be injured but I haven\'t read anything about it.

Argentina have beaten Lebanon very easily, Walter Herrmann was the topscorer for the team. In the first day, he didn\'t score a single point against France, but in this match he scored 23 points in just 17 minutes with 6-8 3pt shooting.

I haven\'t heard anything about an injury for Primoz. If he is just tired then it would be in his best interest to rest up following the world games, because this is his contract year coming up.

Sounds like Walter Herrmann had a good game I look forward to see more of this guy he seems like the type of player that could give the bobcats positive play even if he is not starting. Also I hope Primoz just needs a break or something and its not to serious because we cannot afford a injury to another big if EO50 is not 100%.

Walter Herrmann continues shining in World Championships although Venezuela was just a piece of cake for Argentina. They won 96-54 and Herrmann played 27 minutes, scored 25 points(7-10 2pt, 3-7 3pt, 2-2 ft) grabbed 9 ribaunts, both wew team highs.

I\'m watching the match now on Turkish Tv. Herrmann looks very athletic. He looks as a reliable low-post scorer.

Primoz Brezec and Slovenia will be playing against USA tomorrow.

Those are good looking numbers that Herman is putting up in the World Championsips. I realize that its not NBA caliber competition, but its impressive regardless of that.
It looks like he may fit in well in the role of being a high energy guy off the bench for 10 to 15 minutes a game at the forward spots.

Tamburello, How has his defense looked?

Tamburello, How has his defense looked?

The numbers are good looking but Herrmann tried a little much to make this numbers. For example he had 0 assists. During 2nd half, neither Ginobili nor Nocioni(he had a minor ankle injury) played more than 5 minutes. Also the other stars, Luis Scola and Fabricio Oberto didn\'t play much and Herrmann played all but 3 minutes in 2nd half.

Due to Turkish TV commentators, Bobcats scouts were watching the game and Herrmann put an extra effort to show himself off. Since Venezuela is a weak opponent, the all Argentine players but Herrmann didn\'t tire themselves.

And his defense, I wish you hadn\'t asked his defence. :) He wasn\'t looked as a heck of defensive player, his defence wasn\'t his distinctive feature. He helped rebounding a lot, but didn\'t block a shot and made 4 fouls. All in all, he is not a G-Force caliber defender, maybe even Morrison would be a better defender.

But I can\'t put definite judgments. The match was flat. After seeing Serbia&Montenegro-Argentina match on Thursday, I will have more clear ideas.

:pinch: Hopefully he can turn up his defensive intensity once he reaches the NBA.
He sounds like a good find on offense and in the rebounding department however.

USA have beaten Slovenia 114-95. Primoz Brezec played 20 minutes, scored 15 points and took 12 rebounds(6-10 2pt, 3-4 ft)

Also I found an Emanuel Ginovbili interview, and he says something about Walter Herrmann.

FIBA: Walter Herrmann has been on fire in the last two games, coming off the bench to lead the team in scoring on both occasions. Has he surprised you with those performances?

Emanuel Ginobili: It doesn\'t surprise me because I\'ve seen Walter do it before. He has been great for us. He gives us a scoring punch when he comes in the game and I hope he can keep it up.

Primoz played well against the US, he even shocked me by getting a clean block on Dwight Howard:blink: .

I also like the numbers that I\'ve been seeing from Walter Hermann, unfortunately I havent been able to see Argentina play yet though.

Argentina have beaten Nigeria easily(98-64), Walter Herrmann played 22 minutes and scored 12.

Slovenia have beaten Puerto Rico(90-82). Brezec also played 22 minutes, scored 14 and grabbed 7 rebounds.

Walter Hermann is looking more and more like a real find, Maybe hes finally able to deal with all of the tragedies that he went through a few years back.

Sports Illustrated had a good article on him yesterday.

Both Argentina and Slovenia have advanced to second round.

Slovenia matched with my Turkey, unfortunately they will lose B) B) . And the winner(Turkey, hopefully) will face either Argentina or New Zealand, perhaps it\'ll be Argentina in the quarter-final.

Turkish forwards and centers are tough players. I had watched the Turkey-Slovenia exhibition game last month in Ankara. They had forced both Nesterovic and Brezec out of painted zone. If we can slow down Lakovic and Udrih, I\'m sure we will beat Slovenia easily.

Speaking of physical players, Is Tiago Splitter playing in the World Championships?

Yes he played, and played very well in my opinion. I watched him in a few matches, as I observed he was a great rebounder, especially offensive rebounder. He formed a good frontcourt with Anderson Varejao. In five matches, he had the averages of 16.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, which are the best you can get at World Champs.

Argentina has beaten my Turkey easily
 and Herrmann played well again, scored just 8 but showed why he deserves to go to NBA.

Sth out of topic, if you are watching games, you should have heard sth about Ersan İlyasova. Keep this name in your minds, he will play for Milwaukee Bucks this year. Maybe he won\'t get a huge media attention, but he will make some impact next season. And then he will show everybody why he is called the next Andrei Kirilenko(although he reminds me Nowitzki much) He is a candidate for being \"the best Turkish basketball player ever\". Because neither Turkoglu, nor Mehmet Okur were as talented as him.

At least he has the physical features of AK-47. 6-10, just 19 years old, a great wingspan. He already shoots better than Kirilenko. That\'s why I think he resemles Nowitzki much.

Argentina lost a thriller to Spain, 75-74. Walter Herrmann played just 7 minutes, scored 6 points(two three pointers). He sat on the bench during entire second half.

So the U.S. will en up playing Argentina for the bronze medal. Most experts thought that matchup would be for the gold.
Why did Hermann get so few minutes?

tamburello

Andres Nocioni was playing very well, however Argentina were down for the most of second half and they needed more offensive power. Hernandez should let Herrmann play more, but he just didn\'t prefer to change his line-up.

Let\'s see USA-Argentina match-up. You\'ll remember, Herrmann loves USA matches since Athens 2004 :) :)
