I\'m a Best Buy Mobile Install Supervisor (wow long title). I\'m also a student and have my own side business building pc\'s.

I\'m a sophmore(woulda been a junior if I hadn\'t transferred) at Devry.

Just curious, do you build any linux PCs?

And if that question didn\'t give you a clue to my job, I\'m an Information Technology developer/geek.

I have from time to time, but it\'s not my specialty. The most extensive work on Linux that I\'ve done has been on Knoppix. I\'ve used it mostly for data recoveries. I like that it bypasses Microsoft\'s \"security\" and can copy over everything from the PE shell via network. (former geek Squad agent.....was also a senior there too)

I\'ve also worked a bit with mandrake.

Congrats on the IT developing and geekiness. I am a geek and am studying Network and communications management. I am an 8 pc geek :P

Networking is a good field and unlike many other IT jobs its immune to offshoring. They have to keep the network guys onshore.
I haven\'t tried Knoppix, I\'ve worked some with Mandrake and Suse. I\'m thinking about getting a nice desktop in a few months but I don\'t necessarily want windows on it.

Try Lindows or dual boot it.

With Vista coming out, al the security risks will be on vista rather than XP, so it\'ll be less vulnerable.

Or you could just use 2000 Pro and not have any issues ever :P

I can agree, I like Linux, but mostly as a concept but it\'s hard to get software or have everyday use out of it...big reason I\'m still a windows whore :P
