With a playoff run for the Bobcats looking doubtful at best, take a look at these highlights from Greg Oden's first college game... And while looking at this, think about the fact that his dominant hand is still in a cast and he hasn't even had a chance to have a full practice with the Buckeyes.... And he is still absurdly dominant... Can you just imagine him AND Emeka in the paint :o

I'll trade Gerald Wallace and our #1 just for the rights to the #1 pick. Right now.

Me, too. He has the ideal shape of a Center. Although we actually need an offensive booster, Greg Oden is the Center of future. I'm one year senior of him, but he's 7'1!!!! and I'm 5'11 :'( :'( That's not fair.

But I'm still hopeful for higher place in Eastern Conference. Since East is far beyond of horrible, after winning a few matches in a row, we still might be in playoff race. I think it's too early to dream about getting Oden.

I'd do that in a heartbeat... I'd throw in Sean May too. Greg Oden is going to be THAT good.

I would trade ANYBODY including Okafor for Oden.

you guys are crazy. wantin to mortage the whole team for one unproven rookie.

hes 7 1 going against little high schoolers. lets let him play a full year in college before we go trading a proven NBA talent like okafor for some punk ass kid who rejects guys that tower at 5 10.

I hear you, Normally I don't like to buy into the hype of how college players are going to do as a pro... but I'll make an exception for this kid, from the little that I've seen of him on the court, he plays like the reincarnation of Patrick Ewing. If it came down to it, I would give Okafor for Oden.

Well, I got hyped up when he put up 14 points, 10 boards, and 5 blocks after being out for months, in his first game back, with ONE HAND!!

That's a player I get hyped for. Okafor will be great, but Oden will be FANTASTIC.

At the rate this years going, we may not need to give up ANYTHING for Oden. Not to trade in the season; but there is a silver lining. ;D

For some of the Greg Oden doubters out there, take a look at these numbers from Greg Oden 3 games into his season

14.7 ppg
8.3 rpg
5.0 bgp
89.5 FG% :o :o :o :o :o

In my opinion, he could walk into the NBA today with no practice or preparation and be one of the top 3 centers in the league.

Thats insane :hypo: . Oden's FG% is going to drop though, he shot a mere 8-15 from the field last night.

Sorry Ziggy but I don't agree and I think you are wrong. While I agree that with his hand and conditioning he's only at about 80% but he still has a long way to go with his development before I'll agree he's the next coming.

I know that Okafor is 4 years "older" (24 is not old) at this stage I would take him over Oden. Oden is a very poor rebounder for his size and for what he should be doing. His positioning is aweful and he gets out muscled way too easily (see the Buckeyes Vs the Gators last week).

I've seen Oden play about 4 times this year and yes, there is a lot to get excited about but there is just as much he needs to work on (like his passing out of a double team).

Don't get me wrong, I like him, but don't get sucked into the hype just because of the stats. Like Mustachio said: against high schoolers he was dominate. Now he's playing against stronger, more physical guys like Horford he's getting beaten up on and when he gets to the NBA he's going to be coming up against bigger, stronger men.

If he plays against Big Baby and LSU in the tourney it'll be interesting to see how he handles things then.

In the Florida game, Horford played him tight, but I didn't see him get outmuscled. No way in the world the Joakim Noah outmuscled him. I'm guessing that hes about 255 pounds now. In 2 or 3 years when hes added another 20 pounds or so, he'll be able to hold his own physically with anyone in the NBA not named Shaq.

I will give it to you that he should be pulling down more than 8.7 boards a game. I'm going to attribute that to the bad wrist and the conditioning, but I could be wrong.

But most importantly, the reason that you HAVE to take him at #1 or make sacrifices to move up to get him is that he is a legitimate, bonifide, pure, natural, dominant low post center. Not a PF pretending to be a center, or a center that takes 20 foot jumpers. Hes a center in the Shaq / Yao Ming mold. Pair him with Emeka and we win 50+ games a year for the next 10 years.

And the gods descend upon the bobcats, the holy music starts playing, and all is well in the world. MUAHAHA!

It's not the wrist that makes him a poor rebounder - it's his positioning. It's really, really bad. If I had a dollar for every time the ball goes back over his head off the rim or the glass I wouldn't have to work.

It's because he camps out right under the ring rather than outside where the resticted area would be and once he gets caught under the ring he can't battle his way out.

Like I said, maybe that can be changed with training and practice, but at the moment it's painfully bad.

Please don't ge me wrong, I sure wont be sad at all if we drafted Oden, I'll be thrilled. But I would just prefer to have Durant.

EO50 and Oden wouldn't compliment each other as well as EO50 and Durant IMO. Oden isn't offensive enough and they would get in each others way (unless you want EO50 to continue to try and work on that 15-18ft jump shot rather than working in the post???)

Last night Greg put up 17 points, 19 boards and 4 blocked shots.
He MUST wind up in a Bobcats uniform.

My worst nightmare is for Orlando to barely miss the playoffs, go into the lottery with just a few ping-pong balls then win it... And wind up with Oden at center and Dwight Howard at power forward... Mentally that would send me over the edge.

If that happens, I'll quit watching basketball. That, and I'll shoot David Stern.

If the Magic pulled that off, that might be enough to turn me into a hockey fan... Maybe I'd turn this place into carolinahurricanesplanet.com

here's a question for thought. IF we nab #2 pick, would you trade down, and if so, what would it take?

It would take an All-Star caliber, young impact player. Someone at least like Carmelo. And thats only if Oden went #1 and Durant was there at #2. If Durant went #1 and Oden was available at #2, theres no way that I move down from that pick.

I'd start with Memphis and Gasol and Gay plus some "stuff" and take it from there

If somehow Oden was available at 2, no way in hell do i move down, unless they give me Deron Williams, Carlos Boozer and another stud.

Did anybody see the Ohio State / Tenessee game last night? Although Oden was in foul trouble all night and his numbers weren't impressive, he still saved the game for the Buckeyes with that last second block of the layup at the end of the game.
Its an example of how his impact on the game doesn't always show up in the stats.

Seeing that game kept confirming for me tho how Oden lacks any fire in his gut. The guy plays on size and awesome skill but little emotion....I don't know....he just doesn't seem to like what he's doing.

The fourth foul he got was rediculous, all he did was pivot under the rim and some TN guy runs flat out into him and flops. Foul Oden my butt.

And Thad Motta substituting him in the final minutes .. out for defense .. and in for offense .. dude the guys a defensive beast! WTF you doing!? Thank goodness he was in at the end...

I think on this one since he had 4 fouls they would be aiming straight for him every possession.

idk where and what
but i watched one game in the tourney and oden went nuts
i mean it was frickin scary his eyes were bulging and everything and he was yelling so loud
god imagine how loud that man ape can yell
i think that he loves basketball alot.
maybe an off day or something
but with that game when he was going crazy over a rebound
i think he can get pretty pumped
and you cant do that if you really dont like basketball
