It has us going 2nd and taking Kevin Durant. While I think he is a great player, I think we would honestly go after Hasheem Thabeet, or the best center/SG available.

THis is all on the basis we do NOT get Oden.

Let's get some posts goin!!

Has anyone here seen Thabeet play this season? How does he look?

Ziggy, do you think we need a tower who cannot score consistently? I do not. I believe we should look for a consistent scorer if we cannot catch Oden. As I see, it's Kevin Durant. If we take 2nd overall, we'll draft him, I think. But if we go down, we'd think about Thabeet. If go around 10, we should take a risk and draft Yi Jianlian.

Thabeet has 5.2 bpg :o :o

My choices are:
1- Oden
2- Durant

If we drop below those 2, then I take the best center available. Thabeet, Joakim Noah or even Roy Hibbert.

Thabeet is going to be the next Okafor. Very excellent defensively but will be better offensively. He's also better built as a C more than Okafor. Okafor is better at the PF spot.

One game I caught the highlights on a game he had like 12 blocks...crazy.

If Oden, Durant and Thabeet are gone, I'd look at Marcus Williams from Arizona.

I think Noah will not be successful in the NBA.

Its depressing that 20 games into the season we are already thinking about next year's draft.

Don't worry Ziggy. If we take AI and give away our 1st pick, we won't have this kind of headache anymore. We'll let Iverson shoot 30 times a night, and expect him to score 35. After 3 years, AI will go away(either retirement or as free-agent) and we'll have nothing in return. No playoff berth, no young prospect, no Greg Oden. We'll be in Philly's last 3 years' situation.

I've seen him about 3 times ziggy. He's long, real long. Like arms dragging on the ground long but he is super raw. He looks lost on the court more often than not sometimes standing on the spot and turning around in circles trying to follow his man or the ball movement - like he gets confused as to which is more important or which he should be doing.

He also has poor roation and doesn't recognize double teams or when he switch

BUT

The kid blocks shots he has no right blocking!! Seriously, you think the play is done and dusted and someone is about to score and he comes from freaking no where and blocks the shot. He also has super reaction time and a quickness to get off the floor to block. Because he is so long he pretty much just has to stand there with his hands up and not leave the ground to effect shots which is great because it means he doesn't bite on fakes.

Thats about all I have for now. Hopefully I get to see him more over the season/tourney and I can tell you more.

We have been playing great ball as of late so Thabeet seems to be more in our range come draft time......unless we can sneak into the playoffs!!! Go Bobcats Baby!!!

I just want us to pick up Thadeous Young somehow.....raw but with superstar potential and most project him in the middle of round 1.

If we get Toronto's pick....then I would take Thabeet with our pick to be our true center and then take Young with the Toronto pick.

That gives us a future starter at center, and an interesting sf/sg prospect. But then again Corey Brewer's defense has me drooling......it's going to be an interesting draft this year.

Looking on NBAdraft.net they have us moved down to picking 4th and taking Noah.

But now we're the fifth worst team, and should be taking Al Horford, due to updated NBAdraft.net.

But IMO we should select Hasheem Thabeet if we drop around 5-7.

Absolutely. Give me a legit big man or give me a shooting guard.

Thabeet will be playing on ESPN tonight at 7pm Eastern if anyone wants to check him out.

I stopped watching the game because of the Cats/Raps and Prison Break but the little that I saw was just ok. He went up for a dunk but he couldn't hold on to the ball turned me off of him a little.

thabeet's game is really REALLY underdeveloped...he's at the right school to become a great player but what are the odds he stays after this year? he needs to stay in school, because if he goes pro after his freshman season....well, the D league is always looking for new players. he reminds me of pretty much every center drafted by seattle the last 3 years, real big but not very talented.

I personally would prefer to see Thabeet develop, but did Dirk nowitzki get to develop in college? Nope. I'd still take Thabeet based on upside alone.
