I just pulled up Hoopshype and was taking a look, and here are some players we'll probably take a serious look at if they hit the market:

Andres Nocioni - SF, member of Argentinan team with Hermann?
Anderson Varajao -
Jerry Stackhouse - North Carolina Alum
Julius Hodge - loaded with potential
Flip Murray - Almost signed with us this year, and will want more money and playing time
Bonzi Wells - Might opt out of his contract and we might pursue his scoring
Chris Mihm - injury season will dampen his low value, and is worth more than Brezec
Luke Walton - Great shot and versatile.
Smush Parker - Raymond needs a backup
Eddie Jones - Can still play and is a veteran presence
Chucky Atkins - Once again, Raymond needs a backup.
James Posey - Hard nosed defender and good team player
Ruben Patterson - High % shot and offensive rebounder, and we need both.
Charlie Bell - Good scorer and can make the 3; versatile.
Steve Blake - Excellent backup, pass first Point man. Good defense.
Eddie House - Liked him when he was here, knows the team, good shooter.
Vince Carter - If he opts out, he may be considered *cough* cancer *cough*
Desmond Mason - If Wallace is traded, he's very similar and would fill his role easily.
Marc Jackson - Can never have too many big men
Linton Johnson - Good athlete, decent upside
Grant Hill - NC native, nice to finish in home state. One of the "nice" guys.
Travis Diener - can hit anything anywhere
Morris Peterson - Considerable if all else fails

Kareem Rush - :hysterical:

ANother big man and a backup PG, with a scorer would be our top needs could use some studs.

Outside of the obvious choice of Vinsanity, I think that James Posey or Luke Walton would fit into this roster nicely.

Out of that list the only player that really jumps out to me is Posey.
Having Posey here coming off the bench for Wallace would be awesome.
I wouldn't mind given Hodge a try either.

Andres Nocioni - SF, Not required so long as we have Crash
Anderson Varajao - Agreed, might be a solid addition
Jerry Stackhouse - Tood old, stick a fork in him
Julius Hodge - Agreed
Flip Murray - He blows
Bonzi Wells - Fat, lazy and a cancer
Chris Mihm - Rather have Jake
Luke Walton - Not needed with Ammo
Smush Parker - Not a bad option
Eddie Jones - Too old and can't stay healthy
Chucky Atkins - Rather have BK
James Posey - Not a bad option for the right price (he's currently over paid)
Ruben Patterson - HELL NO!! Cancer
Charlie Bell - Agreed
Steve Blake - Rather have BK
Eddie House - Rather have the Hammer
Vince Carter - I don't feel good at all about dropping $12 mil a year on him for the next 4
Desmond Mason - "If" Wallace is traded, agree
Marc Jackson - Depends on what happens with Ely and who we draft
Linton Johnson - Pass
Grant Hill - LOVE to have him here in a Steve Smith role (for the right price)
Travis Diener - Rather have the Hammer
Morris Peterson - Again, agree - for the right price

Steve Smith was the first thought that came to my head as well.

Mickael Pietrus
P J Brown
and
Travis Outlaw

would also be solid options. Again, it depends who is on still the roster next summer. Outlaw would be a fantastic addition if Crash leaves (a better option that Mason - younger and a better shooter), PJ is a great locker room guy who I would rather than Harrington and Pietrus is showing some form under Nellie and with J-Rich injured.

Ive been telling all you guys for a while Jameison is going to be a Bobcat next year and its not going to cost us a arm and leg. He just wants to finish his carer near home. I EVEN THINK HE WILL BE WILLING TO BE A 6th MAN.
TALK ABOUT A HELL OF A PUNCH COMEING OFF THE BEANCH.

The only way I would want Jamison here would be if he was willing to play for the MLE and come off the bench.

Ammo and Jamison would be the two worst defenders in the entire NBA.

Them together on the court at the same time makes me shudder.

It would be kinda scary both of them at the same time. But Jameison can put up numbers in a flash. and the bulk of his time will be off the beanch so i dont see to much of a problem thair. Its not like you defending all stars coming off the beanch. He would be a great role modal for the rest of the team .
I all so think we will be going after Childers from Atlanta. Dont know if his contract is up or not. But i think it is . He may be a good pick up.

Childress is signed through 08, with a qualifying offer for 09. I kinda would like him here, but I think he is kind of soft.

Jamison does have a player option this coming year, and is making 15 million this year. I think Washington will try to keep him in D.C. to keep their trio together. If he would take slightly less money and be a 6th man, count me in on that bandwagon.

He would have to waaay less money. I don't think Frugal-Bob would even pay Kobe 15 million a year if he were a free agent.

Why would you think that?

What do you base that statement on?

I hold the position that I don't believe that Bob will spend big money on anybody until I see it with my own two eyes.
He has to do something to disprove his reputation of being extraordinarily cheap before I can believe otherwise.

What in the hell has he done to make you think he has a reputation of being extraordinarily cheap??

Who has he not resigned and let walk in the 3 years he has owned the Bobcats?

Off the top of my head:

Hiring a Coach / GM - so that he only has to pay 1 salary instead of 2

Not signing one single relevant free agent in the 3 year history of this franchise.

2006 draft - didn't buy those 1st round picks that Phoenix and (can't remember the other team) put on the open market on draf day. That one really bugs me.

Time to make a thread for how Bob Johnson is cheap!

Ersan İlyasova of the Milwaukee Bucks. After BRJ's going, we have only 2 real SF's(Adam and Gerald). Ersan would be a very good back-up to them. He rarely found chance to play in the crucial minutes and when he found he wasted that chances.

But however, he's still being considered as the best player of Turkish basketball history in the future, better than Hedo Trkoğlu, better than Mehmet Okur. He has an enormous potential, and if he comes to our club, I believe he'll have a better chance to shine. Also his market price will be quite low, which Bob Johnson loves :D.

Of course he can't be our first destination to go. IMHO, we have to land either Vince Carter or Antawn Jamison if we want to have a chance for 2008 playoffs. And I agree, we shouldn't give Antawn soo much money. But if I were him I wouldn't leave Washington for at least one more year.

Is Jamison really that bad on D? I'd love to have him and I would pay him. Maybe not 15 mil a season but I'd pay more for him than I would Vince. I bet we don't even get anybody in FA. Going to keep building through the draft. Did anybody read the article on PSN about us having 2 first round pics next year if the Raptors make the playoffs, think it's top 15 protected we got it when we selected someone in the expansion draft. So go Raptors. with 2 first round pics and as deep as this years draft is, we could save our money to resign the players we have and keep building through the draft.

We got that pick after trading Pavlovic to Cavs and Cavs had taken it for Lamond Murray trade years ago. It's lottery protected for this year, and has no protection for 2008.

It's too early to talk about that pick, because Toronto is in Atlantic Div. But if we take it, we shouldn't miss Tiago Splitter. He's as athletic as Joakim Noah, and effective at both ends.
