But what would we get back? Definitely not the New York pick, which I figure will be around the 5-10 spot range.

Maybe their 1st rounder if we package a player in the deal? I could also see us recieving P.J. Brown, who would be a big guy that's a vet and would be sure to get minutes.

To be optimistic, I would love to get Thabo Sefalosha. He can straight up ball, is good size, versatile, AND can play excellent D. I'd like to see if we could grab nearly any of their guards, or Tyrus Thomas if he didn't cost us too much (although I figure he would).

I'd say we'd have these people that are available for the right price:
Ben Gordon
Thabo Sefalosha
Chris Duhon
Andres Nocioni
Tyrus Thomas
P.J. Brown

Who might we have the most interest in?

Honestly, I'd think we'd have the most interest in a guard, or picks.

Sefalosha for Ely would be sweeeet. But I also read today that Duhon was serving a one game team imposed suspension for oversleeping and missing practice. So maybe hes on the outs with the Bulls. I'd take him for Ely in a heartbeat too. He can back up either guard spot.

Agreed with Duhon. He would be a good backup option that'd allow us to trade Brevin, along with the doubt of us resigning Jeff Mcinnis.

Mcinnis is 6'4 and Duhon is versatile, so it'd be possible for us to keep both as backups to the guard spots.

i would kill for a thabo-ely trade, but i don't see it happening. ely hasn't played at allt his year, his stock is not-that-great and while thabo hasn't played a lot in chicago, he's made a nice enough impression that i don't think they would deal him for a 10th-11th man like ely.

umm...there is no way we're getting duhon for ely. duhon is a starter for the bulls.

getting either of these players for ely would be an asbolute steal. alas, i don't think the paxson is that dumb. they would most likely offer some second round picks.

You're right. We'd probably have to do a package deal. The only player I'd see us getting in return as a straight up deal would be P.J. Brown.

I don't think Chicago would trade PJ Brown for Ely, because his expiring contract is a good chip for a potential Garnett trade. Chicago will give neither Sefolosha nor Duhon IMO, the best we can get is someone like Viktor Khryapa, although either Thabo or Duhon would be great additions.

do you seriously think we can get duhon for ely?
