with 35 games to play, we're just 4 games out of the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference. And despite what you may read in the eternally pessimistic Charlotte Observer, It is a realistic possibility that the Bobcats could make up those 4 games with 35 games left to play. What do you guys think our realistic chances of getting it done are?
Eastern Conference

1. * Detroit --
2. * Washington 0.5
3. Chicago 0.5

8. Miami 6.0

i think if we keep playing competivie basketball and we can pull out most of our close games we can make it, that would be so awesome if the bobcats made the playoffs.

It would prove a ton of people wrong, and it might get some of these bitter former-Hornet fans in town to jump on the bandwagon.

I can see us easly get the 8th seed with Jameison out. And the knicks just up. The Heat game coming up will be big but the way they playing now i think we can get them. As bad as the east is with 35 to play and us just 10 out of first . Hell we might take the east na . But a good chance to be a 8th seed .

Looking at the teams remaining, Miami in my opinion is the only team we have to worry about. We have the Knicks figured out, and the Nets continue to be their own worst enemy, plus they have injury issues. You figure Miami with Shaq back is going to get in, so looking at the teams that are in now, the best bet to fall would be Indiana, because I think that trade they made with Golden State hurt them more than helped them, so realistically I could see Miami at #7 and us sliding into the 8th spot. Thanks for this thread, it makes it easy to see for everyone how close we really are only in the 3rd year.

Something else fun to think about. If we do manage to get that #8 seed, we've matched up very nicely against the Detroit Pistons the likey #1 seed.

its very possible that the cats could make the playoffs if
- gerald wallace keeps playing at his current level
- okafor keeps up his pace
- felton improves his shooting % and takes better shots
- morrison is a more consistent scoring threat
- walter herrmann becomes the teams leading scorer ( hehe )
if these happen and we don't blow leads in the 4th quarter, they very well could make the playoffs. GO BOBCATS!

True i would love to see us and the pistons. I was looking at the games remaining 8th seed is realistic . Im thinking between 32 and 35 wins . I think 35 wins will be enough to to take the 8th seed.

Matt Carroll has to be more consistent as well.

yeah ziggy thats the first thing i thought of.
i was like if things stay the same and we get the 8th seed.... i think we could beat detroit in a 5 game series. they obviously have the experience and the talent, but we match up well and have given these guys pure hell everytime we play em.
i personally feel that the bobcats are where they need to be wether we make the playoffs or not. a 33-35 win season would usually get you nothing... in the eastern conference it could get you in the playoffs. but a 33-35 win season for a 3rd year franchise that has showed nothing but growth and potential... its really all you can ask for. playoffs would just be the cherry on top.

If we didn't get Detroit, we'd probably get Cleveland or Washington, all that we have played very well against.
We just need to play better against the mid-level teams and continue to play our "A' Game against the teams we play against.
Ok. So i checked on ESPN and it states we have 34 games left. Only 12 are against >.500 teams, and we play 15 games against teams in our division. We also play 17 apiece home/away.
So, we have 22 sub .500 teams we play against. We are better than most of them, so I think we could absolutely pull this off.

If we are going to make the playoffs we can't drop games to teams like Philly.

Games like the Philly game and the Portland game are games we need to win. We all so need to win a few games against teams with plus .500 records in case we come out like crap one night.
Thease next two games are the most important we have played all year.
It would be a big moral boast to go in to ALL STAR break with 20 wins

absolutely, going into the brea with 20 wins knowing you're in a playoff hunt would be awesome.
I see us being a 2nd half team. I'm sticking to my previous assumptiong of 38 wins. yes. THIRTY-EIGHT!

I WILL GIVE YOU A BIG THUMBS UP FOR STICKING WITH 38 WINS.
But its going to be hard to win 20 of the next 34. My self im just hoping for 500 .
ball 17 of the next 34 to give us 35 wins
