This may be a dumb question, but how did Jeff McInnis wind up with the nickname Touche' ? Is there a story behind that?

I know Jeff McInnis is infamous for having sex with Phil Ford's wife while at Carolina (why he went pro after his junior season) so maybe that has something to do with it...


Phil Ford: "Jeff, you let your guy beat you off the dribble all night!!"


Jeff McInnis: "I was tired from putting it to your wife all morning.."

Ive always been told its a nickname given to him as a child because he resembled "Touche" the turtle.

I thought that was common knowledge. It was a big reason he left UNC early. I heard Pretty Rick Fox banged her too.

Here is Jeff denying it, but its pretty much a known fact that it happened.

In his book A March to Madness, sportswriter John Feinstein delicately alludes to Duke fans razzing McInnis about "personal animosity between him and assistant coach Phil Ford." As that year's NBA draft neared, McInnis broke the official silence when he told the Charlotte Observer that Orlando Magic staffers had quizzed him about the allegations that he was leaving school early due to the fallout from an affair with Ford's wife. His answer: "Nothing ever happened. She is often hugging players. The Duke people blew the whole thing up."

I have a good friend who graduated from UNC Chapel Hill, and apparantly it's common knowledge up there that Jeff McInnis did indeed "do the deed" with Ms. Phil Ford.

Now, the Rick Fox thing, thats news to me hahaha!

After a period that he terms "curious discovery" while at UNC, McInnis developed the nickname "Butt Toucher", also shortened to "Toucher"....in an effort to seem more "cultured" he changed it to "Touche"
