There was a good matchup of potential centers for the Charlotte Bobcats Saturday afternoon when Georgetown played UConn.
I've been leaning towards Hibbert over Thabeet lately if the big 2 of Oden and Durant are off the board, and this head to head matchup just cemented how I already felt about it.
Head to head these were the numbers:
Thabeet
minutes 28
FG 3-6
FT 0-0
reb 4
blk 2
pts 6
Hibbert
minutes 33
FG 7-13
FT 4-5
reb 12
blk 3
pts 18

definitely take hibbert too. hibbert is more polished offensively and an enforcer defensively. however thabeet is more athletic, but that athletic ability is useless if you cannot do much with it like thabeet. he has trouble scoring in the post. he's like a bigger but less glorified joakim noah (who is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overrated)

another thing, Hasheem has shown ZERO development in his game over the course of the season. Hibbert has improved from a late first round prospect to easily a top 7 or 8 pick.

Hasheem is raw with a ton of potential but Hibbert is more NBA ready.
I'm REALLY starting to warm to the idea of drafting Hibbert. I'd for sure draft him over Thabeet - I don't want Thabeet at all.
Maybe a better comparison would be Hibbert Vs Oden?

I'm hoping that we get to see those two matchup in the NCAA tournament. I'd take Oden over Hibbert 100 times out of a 100, but if we wind up with the 3rd or lower pick, I would be thrilled to get Hibbert. He has offense, he rebounds, plays defense, blocks shots and he has the Georgetown big man pedigree.

Give me a player that can be a low post force, it's all good to me.
Get Hibbert with our 1st pick.

Oh man neither please; must stay focused on Durant/Oden. With BB in full out tank mode; I'm getting more hopeful. Watching the other lowbie NBA teams slowly catching up in the win column....and happy as hell about it. I LOL at Bernies substitutions; really what else can you do; they're ludicrous.
Okay though if I must I'd take Hibbs in a sec over Thabeet; but probably not with a top 5 pick. I wouldn't touch Thabeet, but let someone else waste a pick on him.
Really I LIKE Okafor at Center (although I'd like Oden even more), so I'd look around for a PF type too; especially with Sean May so busted these days.
Anyway Primo and Jake can backup Okafor next year no problem....ok just kidding....this is the NBA not the CBA.

Oh believe me we all want Oden/Durant. We're just thinking that it's more likely for us to end up with a 5-10 pick, cuz I know we're no worse than Memphis, Boston, or Atlanta for that matter. Wins wise? I think we'll probably get a 4-7 pick. Hopefully those ping pong balls are lucky for us!

I'm watching Hibbert dismantle Aaron Gray from Pitt in tonight's Big East tournament game... Thats making me feel a lot better about possibly drafting him if Durant/Oden are gone.

Yes, I watched him against Notre Dame, and it was mentioned that he isn't very good against high paced teams as he only goes at his own pace. Hopefully we can make sure that would hurt us in any way.
One thing I certainly like about him? 2.5 blocks a game, 68% field goal percentage. 68!! We could use some more high % players on this team.

68% beats the Helll out of the 44.5% that Primoz is giving us this season.

123 joakim noah is a lot better than anyone on unc's roster maybe not as a pro prospect but as a college player he is a lot better than psyco-t (who looks really cool in his new mask) and brandan wright, just cause joakim has a ring that means he is overated? Brandan wright is overated. i hope flordia plays unc in the tourney so you can see how overated joakim noah is.

all 123 does is read nbadraft.net and post what they say on here and he thinks he is an nba expert

Brandan Wright = Marvin Williams in college.
Rudy Gay could also be compared with their college careers.

Anyone who saw the Georgetown/BC game this afternoon has to feel better about the possibility of drafting Roy Hibbert if Oden and Durant are off the board. Hibbert was dominant with 15 of his 17 points in the second half to go along with 12 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. He also showed some excellent passing ability.
On my board, because of our team needs I'd take him as high as #3... Yep, over Brandon Wright.
I watched the game and I liked what I saw from him, but I don't know if he is a top 3 pick.
I do agree with you though Zig, I'd take him over Wright. I just hope we'd be able to draft someone at #3 and then trade that player down to get Hibbert and some filler.
Know what I mean?
I liked Hibbert's 2nd effort a lot today. He never gave up on plays and that hook he's got is pretty sweet. Good foot movement for a dude that big too.
