Who? and explain.
Also tell me who you absolutely DO NOT want, and why.

In my mind its a done deal that Bernie is off of the bench after this season. I can't imagine under any circumstances MJ keeping Bernie on the bench one more season. Doing that would doom us to a 4th season of ping pong balls. So in about 20 more games Bernie's coaching will just be a bad memory.

So lets hear who you want on the bench the most and who you absolutely, positively do not want. I have a few in mind, but I'll wait a little bit before I chime in with my suggestions.

who I want: see this thread http://www.bobcatsplanet.com/joomla/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,70/topic,4180.0

who I do NOT want?: Patrick Ewing

Rick Adelman: I would like him because he develops players and high octane offenses(hence sacramento)

MJ: Maybe? I mean he's a great player and the best of his time, but as a gm etc etc who knows? The jury is still out on him.

The work that Iavaroni has put in helping to create that Phoenix Suns system has been impressive. I'm surprised that nobody has snagged him already.

rick adelman because he is playoff tested and has had success at the highest level. he was robbed of a chance in the finals due to robert horry. but if he still has the desire, he could be a good fit getting the cats to the next level

by the way i was joking about michael jordan, i seriously doubt he would be a good nba coach

Adelman - the guy did a knockout job in Sacramento with a hodge-podge team of less than all-star tallent. he got them to the playoffs (and competed well) every single year he was there, with a roster that changed dramaticaly from season to season.

Hands down, he's the best coach out there, and I think he could do amazing things with our talent. Playoffs for sure ... and i'd bet he'd get us in with home court advantage and probably a first round win.

Draft pick + 1/2 good free agent(s) + Adelman = second round of playoffs. mark my words.

i Heard that it might be Charles Barkley. If not that then one of the Van Gundy's.

Charles Barkley and Sean May in the same organization ??? The immense mass of those 2 in the same proximity would wreak havoc on the gravitational pull in this hemisphere.

I wouldn't have a big problem with either Van Gundys, Jeff's always miserable mood might weigh on the players after a while though.

I WOULD LOVE FOR SIR CHARLES TO BE OUR COACH.

SIr Charles as coach? Hmm, I don't know how that would pan out. Other than a player, does he have ANY experience that would be useful to being a coach? Just curious.

Barkley could show the troops how to put on weight! And how to order take-out in under 30 seconds.

How about my boy J. B. "D.W.I." Bickerstaff, Bernie could be the GM and J.B. the head coach. That is defenitly a recipe for an NBA championship.

Heres my wishlist:
1. Marc Iavaroni, with the system that he helped to implement in Phoenix, he is the next young start coach in the NBA. The team that gets him is going to be extremely happy.
2. Paul Silas, He does great work with the big men. Imagine how he could help May, Emeka and the development of Ryan Hollins. Who better to teach Oden if we're lucky enough to win the lottery. He has some detractors, but he wins everywhere that he goes.
3. Stan Van Gundy, He got a raw deal in Miami. And if it weren't for a strained rib muscle by Dwyane Wade 2 years ago, He'd probably have a championship ring.

Now for who I don't want:
1. Larry Brown, The man is genius but he is also insane. He tried to make deals behind the GMs back, He called out his player in the media and tried to trade everyone on the roster that was under 37 years old. Hes a nut, pure and simple.
2. Tubby Smith, I do not want a college coach. Give me someone with NBA experience.
3. Billy Donovan, see #2 above. Hes run a nice program in Florida, but I don't want him learning the NBA on the job with the Bobcats. Let him do that with some other squad.

Got to say something about Iavaroni.

I'm not against him coming here at all - I'd like it, but peeps seem to think that he'd be able to do here what the Suns have done there.

That ain't happening!!

The reason the Suns can play the way they do is because they have Nash running the show, the best PG in the game - by far, and the athletes and shooters to back it all up.

Our roster is so far away from the Suns in terms of ability it's just not funny.

That's why Donovan would be good IMO. He plays a much more balanced game at BOTH ends and while I agree with Zig in that you don't want someone learning on the job, it sure worked out well with Avery and the Mavs.

Slam,
Steve nash wasn't the best point guard in the game until he was plugged into that system in Phoenix. When he got into that system he went from a good point guard to a legendary point guard.

im with you ziggy... i think steve nash is grossly overrated.

he plays with a freakishly atheletic team, and freakishly gifted big man in amare stoudamire.

if you watched that game last night against dallas... he struggled in a lot of stretches and amare bailed him out. I mean any body can run into the lane, slide basically travel, and fall then right before its an obvious travel dish it to amare who can jump with anyone.

granted he does make some big shots, and that comes with the confidence he carries. but to me, hes an above average point guard on an outstanding team.

and in the playoffs they will get beat by the Mavs AGAIN.

Nash started to get good in Dallas and then got put in the perfect situation. and on that note... im not even sure its all coaching thats so great.... I just think its a perfect storm of talent and coaching that makes that team good. Not one individual

Agree Zig that the Suns Nash is outstanding, but the Mavs Nash was no slouch either. They took a bloody big hit when he skipped town.

Put him in any situation (with smart basketball players) and he will make them better.

Sure the system works well for him, but you STILL have to ball. It's like peeps when they said JJ would eat shit when he left the Suns because Nash got him his looks and he was the 4th option behind Nash, Amare and the Matrix.

Either you can or you can't. It's that simple.

Our team (in it's current form) can't do what the Suns do. We don't have the shooters or the "get up".

I'll throw another name into the coaching ring just for discussion because I don't think that Jordan would ever hire the guy.
How about the dirtiest player in the history of the game Bill Lambier? I bet our big guys would start knocking some people on their ass if he was running the show.

Coach: Larry Brown

PG: Raymond Felton
SG: JR Smith
SF: Adam Morrison
PF: Emeka Okafor
C: Greg Oden

Next Season: Playoffs

Bobcats with Kevin Durant instead of Oden, and still with Gerald Wallace and Adam Morrison and no "real" shooting guards, and they will be the same losing team that they are this season because the parts don't mix well. The team I just presented is balanced and "coachable." The draft choice, they have no control over.

This tidbit was in today's Charlotte Observer

Paul Silas had a prime seat to see the team he most recently coached -- the Cavs -- play the team he'd love to coach next season -- the Bobcats. Silas hopes for an interview to succeed Bickerstaff. But he doesn't expect any contact with the Bobcats before the end of the season, if at all. Observations | Rick Bonnell

Its being reported that Tubby is leaving his gig at the University of Kentucky to take the job at the University of Minnesota.

He was pretty low on my list anyway.

I think Silas would do wonders for the Bobcats the only thing is that didn't Jordan say he wanted someone younger when Browns name was brought into the mix?

On PTI today, they said that the Bobcats were one of several NBA teams that are on the list to speak with John Thompson III following the final four.

What do you guys think about JT III ?

We probably CAN get Silas, but he doesn't fit the type of guy that MJ has been talking about. A young, motivating Avery Johnson type.
