Oh my God, I heard MJ's presser and he was talking about the rebuilding stage for the Bobcats.

He said "5, 6 maybe 7 years". Sorry, but if your rebuilding for another 5-7 years There won't be any Bobcat fans Michael! If teams are rebuilding for more then 3 years something's wrong! MJ expects the Bobcats to make the playoffs in 2012? 2013? 2014?

This worries me.

Thoughts?

Don't get "rebuilding" and "building from nothing" mixed up.

It's not like we had a strong base that we took down and are rebuilding. We all want results but considering where we started from (less cap than everyone, less talent than everyone) we are still building.

Can't expect more than 3 or 4 of the current guys to be on the roster in another 4 years.

He's not saying 5 to 7 years to rebuild...he's saying 5 to 7 years before becoming a constant contender. He thinks we're borderline playoff team as it is now (and he's right). Notice the header (from the official site):

(On how long it will take to build a championship team) Its stages of success. We went through this stage in Chicago. It took us six years before we got to that point. When you look back in terms of how that was charted, each year was more successful. We went to the playoffs, then we went further in the playoffs, then further. We can continue to move in the right direction. Right now, I think our motivation is to get to the playoffs, get the taste of what it feels like, and get our young guys the experience in terms of dealing with those types of pressures. Then we can go into the following season, go deeper, and see how much that experience pays off for us. Before we can go through all that, we have to have a nucleus to get us to step one. Were close to getting to a playoff-type of team. If we can get the components, from a coaching standpoint to a player here and there, we can get to the playoffs and then get deeper in the playoffs. Whats the timeframe for that? I would be guessing to say five, six, or seven years. We would hope sooner, but you never know. It depends on who that key component is, who that leader may be. If it was Michael Jordan, thats an easy answer, but its hard to find those types of players. Tracy McGrady and Kobe Bryant are two. In some respects, you have to develop that player. Once hes developed, its easier to look down the road to see how quickly it will take us to get to that point. I think we have to learn how to walk before we run, and if we do that we will stay afloat a lot longer than if we get up and run now. There are a lot of potholes you can run into.

Sorry, but the Bobcats arn't a boarder line playoff team as of right now. We have a LONG way to go. And that starts with getting some veterans who are actually solid players, and getting guys like Morrison to learn how to play defense.

if oakafor wouldn't have gotten hurt we would have been kinda close to a border line playoff team we were playing very well...without him we are the worst team in the league

Exactly...if Mek doesn't go down, we go .500 (beat SAC, Utah, Portland/ LA) on the road trip we'd have a record identical to New York, who (I think) is currently 8th seed in the East.

Besides, if you're within 5 games give or take that's "borderline". Jordan said repeatedly in his interview that we have a "core" and we need to add "one or two guys". That ain't a rebuilding.

I agree a bounce hear or thair and we in the playoffs. With no added players we could have made the play offs if OKAFOR and MAY had not got hurt . A good draft next year puts us in the play offs next year for sure. Add in two free agents as bad as the east is we could win the east.
I look for ALL STAR years from OKAFOR and WALLACE next year. With B. K gone FELTON finaly gets to play the point. That means feild goal percentage goes up as well as ass. Morrison has a year under his belt and with the way he works . Hes going to be a solid player. If May can just give us 20 mins a game off the beanch. Thats another solid contribution. Carroll is getting better ever year and is gaining confidence each year two. Give us two good draft picks and a free agent . and we play off bound next year.

Sorry, but May is NOTHING special. I think he was a wasted draft pick.

May shoots the ball and prodely has a better offence game than all most any one on the team , His problem is his health and weight if he can over come that he will get rid of his nickname rerun. But if he can give you 20 mins a night hes going to score you dubble figures . looking back Green would have been a better pick But May by far is no bust if he can stay healthy.

Gerald Green isn't much more than a name at this point.

9 points a game with zero defensive impact and no rebounding.

He may become an elite player but he'll be a restricted free agent before that time comes. Which means someone is going to have to pay to find out.

I like our plan to go with veteran college players, I just wish we'd taken Granger instead of May. We could really use his shooting and he's a good defensive player.

Just think, if Jordan says 5-7 years and it only takes 3, he's a genius. If it actually takes 5-7 years he told them so. If it takes longer, he'll be outta there by then.

He's just being careful with words and setting himself up for success.

He may not stay healthy a lot but hes got a good off game.
As far as im concerned he wasted your words about him last night.

So he makes a shot? All of a sudden he's a HoF player? Give me a break, May is a waste.

May would be a good player if he could stay on the floor .
The thing that hurts him is he stays hurt. He has a few good games so we decided to stop the fat jokes for a week. I hope he stays healthy the rest of this year so he has some trade value.

Yes, if his trade value becomes anything, it'll be great.

Being clutch and pulling something outta his ass (that three) deserves a little respect.

Hell, when Othella had the game winner I gave him a short time of respect.
