Apparantly Jordan wants a young, more straight up and no baggage type of coach.
Thoughts?

I'm very pleased to hear that. Larry Brown would be a devastating coach for our young core.

Thank goodness. I want no part of Larry Brown's insanity on the Bobcats.

i was pretty glad to see that larry brown won't be our coach next year. i just can't see him fitting in very well here in charlotte.
I can only hope this is factual. Like pretty much everyone else, I would hate to see Brown here.

UPPED for the lulz! haha! =P
I remember there was another thread like this at about this time last year and I was one of the few who were actually in favor of LB while everyone else was bashing even the possibility of him being part of our organization.
Ahh how times have changed.

I guess it makes sense now... I read somewhere that Larry and his family were like, "no, not now" when approached, which may be why they went on the cheap and got Sam Vincent. If he does well, they look like geniuses, and then if he does badly like he did this year, then they are pretty sure of landing LB later on.

True all so true . I have not heard even one Larry Brown hater after he was hired this year . What a differance a year makes with a Ham Biscuit coach.

If Sam Vincent is an ol' Ham Biscuit, then Larry Brown is a steak. He may not even be a great steak. Perhaps he's too well done or perhaps he's too rare.
Doesn't matter. He's a steak. And after a year of eating moldy Ham Biscuit, you grab a knife and some A1 sauce and dig in.

I was against Larry Brown last year because of the main reason that we were very young. However, since then, we traded for JRich and had a big lesson in life playing for Vincent. Now, I think our team is both more mature and will be receptive to a hard nosed coach like Brown.
Last year we were thinking of a team like Felton, Morrison, Wallace, Wright (or other rookie big), and Okafor.
That's a lot different with the additions of Richardson and Nazr.
The other thing is that this team clearly needs a quality coach and can't simply go out, play, and win. So, now I'm more ready for a guy like Brown to come in, have the ear of the players, and build them into a winning program.

I think that I may have even called Larry Brown insane at this point last season.
But a season with Hammy has made LB a 1000 times more palatable.
I still have my concerns, but I'm warming up to him. Hopefully his UNC connection, love for MJ, his desire to right the wrong that was done in NYC and want to go out on top plus the couple of years he had away from head coaching will mean that we get 4 of the best years he's ever coached.
That's what I'm hanging onto anyway!!

This was a great find, and predates my membership. I don't even remeber LB being an option last year (though we've found out different since the press conference the other day), but apparently he was at least in the discussion in the national media and the Planet! If I could go back in time to a year ago, I'd have to say I would've preferred LB over any of the candidates that we did hire, but then I'm admittedly biased. Not necessarily because of a Tarheel connection (but that doesn't hurt either, especially because of his reverence for the Maestro, Coach Smith) but he was my mom's all-time favorite, dare I say she was an LB groupie? When he assisted Coach Smith with the Olympic team in '76, I am told they played an exhibition game in Winston, which my mom and dad went to, and before the game mom's about to fall over the rails beside the tunnel waving and yelling "Hey, Larry!!" as he passed. He was nice enough to smile and wave back, and after the game, both he and Coach Smith, because they had to take a flight somewhere that night, didn't have time to sign autos, but asked that my mom give assistant Dick Harp, I think it was, her name and address and they'd send something to her. A couple weeks passed, and she got a personalized autographed photo from each. Say what you will about either one, but they're pure class in my book, as this little anecdote attests.
I too was not terribly opposed to Vincent's hiring. I thought with the diverse coaching background, he'd know what to do, and how to communicate with players, but that just wasn't the case.

my bet was paul silas for coach last year if i wasn't mistaken. i was afraid of LB before because i was a free darko supporter in my own right, but i guess i don't have to be afraid now since this team is really hungry for guidance and i think LB is the man for it. hope this pans out as good as i pray it would be
I never understood why people took Darko's side in that whole thing. I mean he's not even that good, just look at what he's done since he left Detroit....nothing.

i agree... if you look at a lot of things that people moan about with LB. he was making the right decision.
Darko - blows. LB knew it...didnt play him.
Knicks - team blew, LB raised hell about it. the whole situation blew up. but they were actually just a bad team of guys and wont ever win anything with any coach like that.

I was one of those who really didn't want Larry Brown last year, but couldn't be happier he's there now. Well that's not true, if we'd waited another 2 days we could have at least interviewed Avery Johnson. I'd have rather had him, but this is already so much of an upgrade that I'll never complain about it.......

I am one who felt Larry Brow was the perfect coach for this team, if we were going to stay with the format that Bernie was trying to create, which is a team of hard working players from winning programs. with that being said. I have never been more excited for Bobcats Basketball.:)
Thank you, to who ever it was that helped me get back on line.

vincent also almost screwed with our rooks, but getting a #2 in the draft and not playing him also tells something about the coach. don't get me wrong though, i'm now in the LB bandwagon! haha!

well i was never for Larry Brown because of what was going on at the time. but now it just makes too much sense.
Larry Brown is the only coach ever to win an NCAA title and NBA title. Thats perfect for a state that holds its college basketball so dearly, and needs help jumping off the NBA program. He likes working with college players and thats primarily what we consist of. good championship caliber college basketball players from good programs with good heads on their shoulders. To me, now, it sounds perfect on paper. but i guess we will have to wait and see.
